Best Pizza Chain?

Been almost 20 years, but my memory says this has been my favorite chain so far…but I may have eaten at a better one, just not remembered what one or if it was a chain because it was only one time when visiting Colorado.

Take “chain” off the end of that and it will lead to better stuff.

Or lead to pizza wars and pizza war is the best kind of war.

I tend to like thinner crusts--fewer carbs!

Here in AZ I like Barros or Oreganos.

Pizza Hut is too sweet.  Little Caesars is better than it used to be. If I want a pizza from a restaurant I want it cooked so Papa Murphys is out.

Years ago my parents moved to Salt Lake.  My siblings stayed in Memphis.  They all liked Papa John's so much that if one came on a plane they would bring a pizza.  I laughed the last time when a week later I drove past a Papa John's in Salt Lake.

We have a local pizza chain in my hometown called Pizza on the Run and it will always be my favorite.  Whenever I am in town we have to have it, and I take pictures of the box to make all the other people I’m Facebook friends with who grew up there and moved away jealous. 😆

I find it has far more to do with local management than the name of the brand.

Papa Johns is normally my favorite, but the one in my town has a really funky tasting pepperoni. The pizza hut in my town is also better than most.

that being said, Papa Murphy’s Pizza tends to be the most consistently good. Little Caesar’s is also consistent and cheap.

My preference is lately Mod- very thin crust and large assortment of toppings.
I like it weird -

artichoke, olives, jalapeños and roasted peppers

Ever since I tried it, I can't not resist a Pineapple and Canadian Bacon Pizza (from Papa John's, of course.)

I don't eat many pickled items, I can put down an olive on a pizza, but that is because I can't even taste it.

Well, I'm proud you admitted to liking pineapple on pizza, it seems that it's a controversial thing to do, haha...put fruit on pizza. But I'm with ya, love the Hawaiian and many other varieties.

I love pineapple on pizza, the acid helps cut the overwhelming fat of the cheese since they usually don’t put enough sauce on.  And I actually prefer the taste of tomato paste to sauce, it is significantly different.  So the sweetness and tartness of pineapple makes up for the usual blahness of the sauce.

I had a fig, balsamic vinegar. and prosciutto wood-fired pizza (with a white sauce) at a dive bar in the UP of michigan a couple of years ago and I'm still sad that I will probably never get to eat another one again.  It was SO good.

Oh, that takes me back to my childhood... Not that I ever ate anything like that, but that reminds me that is the only kind of weird pizza combos ordered by the Ninja Turtles that April O'Neal ate.

That reminds me of the Super Mario Super Show episode called 9001: A Mario Odyssey, Mario had a pizza machine called the HAL 9001. Mario and Luigi test it out and keep ordering crazy pizzas like a hamburger pizza (with actual hamburgers), and a bologna pizza. That's when HAL starts malfunctioning, and starts popping out things like a dog biscuit pizza instead. After a popcorn pizza is made which sway's Mario, Luigi puts his foot down and opts to pull HAL's plug, but HAL's red eye puts them in a trance and orders Mario and Luigi to eat all of the ridiculous pizzas he made. They  get saved by the machine's inventor who comes in and unplugs HAL and apologizes for being made to eat HAL’s horrible pizzas. Mario then questions: "What horrible pizzas?", and starts eating the popcorn pizza.

https://saltandwind.com/recipes/621-fig-and-prosciutto-white-pizza-recipe Did it look like this? Sure looks yum!

My husband bought a pizza oven last year and our first time using it failed miserably. But I'm hoping we haven't been scared away for much longer and we need to give it another try and I'm definitely going to try this recipe! Thanks!

I like Hawaiian too.  What I really like is the Kona pizza from Barros: Teriyaki Sauce, Chicken, Pineapple, Mozzarella & Cheddar Cheese.

This made me laugh because we have a friend who is a huge foodie and he bought a pizza oven this year and it's been one disaster after another.

I terribly miss Shakey's thin crust pepperoni, double baked.  It's unlikely I'll have another. The chain shrunk by 90% and retreated to California, another victim of corporate merger/buyouts.

There's really good pizza and there's cheap pizza.  However, good pizza for 6 guys is over $100.  Little Caesars is the cheapest of the cheap.

edit: I occasionally do Hungry Howie's for me because they do gluten free crust and anchovies.
