I am getting flooded with these tonight, lol.

Here is one for those who have refused to get vaccinated but want to contribute to science:

Thread on the effects this is having in children.

Read the full conversation. It is sad.

Not in my neck of the woods. I sub and nearly no one is masked up and the cleaning protocols are nearly non-existent compared to last year. They are having a great time. Hoping they have high immunity from just being kids. Yesterday I sub'd in 6th grade and throughout the day students rotate classes with different teachers. I had over 120 students throughout the day with nearly zero masks. I wonder if the schools will encourage wearing them soon, hopefully. They can do so much and have more freedom with this one thing. To keep everyone safe. Plus the disinfecting too.

ETA: I strongly believe in making exceptions for special needs kids with the masks. And allow them to go w/o them and be able to see their teachers mouths. Maybe give the teachers clear masks.

Masks are optional at our school.

I'm just saying, you had no problem calling these reporters "liars" even though what they said was technically correct...

First of all, the only technically accurate thing is that the children were found to have Covid, even though it was after the fact.  Never mind that this was not the reason for their hospital visit, never mind that they were asymptomatic.  This is, dare I say, evil reporting.  Telling a half truth to promote a big lie is evil.  This reporter didn't care what the truth was, his whole purpose was to inflate numbers and scare the crap out of parents....period!  Even you seemed to have brushed it off as not that big of a deal when you said, "what they said was technically correct."  If this is your true feeling, then I have no respect for you whatsoever.  But I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt, and hope you agree that this kind of reporting is contemptable.  I don't care who is reporting, if they are intentionally being deceptive, I feel the same way.  The saddest thing, in my mind, is that it is impossible to know the full truth of things right now.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, if one side of an argument results to name calling, demonizing, bullying, shaming, false reporting, cancelling, censoring, etc,, etc., then they are hiding something and I don't trust them.  This side may be winning in the main stream media, but overall, in the court of public opinion, they are losing.  I found it interesting that just last night, on the news, I saw a clip of Dr. Fauci admitting that many of the hospital numbers were overinflated, especially those of children.  He said many children were in the hospital for a broken arm or appendicitis and, after testing, were found to be positive for Covid.  These were all lumped into the statistics as though they were there because of Covid.  I want to know, what is the motivation for the dishonesty in this kind of reporting.

yet when BRMC goes above and beyond the level of deception seen in your reports, I thought you might like to call him out too, for the same reason.  I would expect that from you, unless you are trying to protect a specific opinion and ideology.

His post was barely an hour old and I had just seen it.  I don't visit here that much anymore.  I have not read his link, so I don't know who is right.  If I find time, I'll look into it.

Finally, I am very pro vaccine.  However, I am against mandates.  I wish everyone would get vaccinated, but I understand why some would choose not to.  Frankly, I think we would have more people vaccinated if we knocked off the bullying tactics, they don't work. Sadly, one of our own posters here, a smug, self proclaimed know-it-all, thinks these kinds of tactics are great, and has included punching people in the face as appropriate and useful in certain cases.  It is truly sad when, for whatever reason, an unvaccinated person, or unmasked person gets put to public shaming and judged harshly when those doing the judging know nothing of them.  In my State, we are still required to wear masks in all public places.  There is an exemption for certain medical conditions, of which I qualify, but I still wear a mask, because it just is not worth the grief that others throw at me if I'm not wearing one.

I want truth.  Unfortunately, when the side with all of the power only plays the shame game, it is difficult, if not impossible, to get the truth.

It is tough to get the truth when governments are manipulating the population to be fearful.  Canada and the UK have admitted to using psychological techniques to get the populations to comply with covid restrictions.  https://summit.news/2022/01/03/mass-formation-psychosis-admittedly-used-by-governments-as-tool-of-population-control/

Hopefully more and more are seeing the nonsense and will progressively grab our autonomy back.

There is nothing wrong with using justifiable and legitimate fear as a motivator (God and the prophets do it all the time), so long as you are not lying about the threat, there is nothing wrong with it.  Of, course it should be balanced with hope through following correct principles.   I am in no way justifying any measures that the UK and Canada used to accomplish this.  I haven't seen any specific examples to judge.  I am just speaking in general terms.

During a campaign speech in Swanton, Ohio, Trump claimed without evidence that the coronavirus "affects virtually nobody," downplaying the risk of the extent of the pandemic and the danger that it poses to individuals...

Quote

Most notably, Trump acknowledged to veteran journalist Bob Woodward that he knowingly downplayed the coronavirus, even though he knew it was more deadly than the seasonal flu.  "I wanted to always play it down," the president said in a March interview, the audio recording of which was made public in September.

Quote

At a campaign rally in June, the president said he actually ordered a slowdown in testing.
"I said to my people, 'Slow the testing down please,' " the president said.

Trump said that was kind of "tongue in cheek", but then this:

Quote

...the administration is proposing zeroing out funding for coronavirus testing and contact tracing, as well as funds for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health in a coronavirus relief package, as an opening offer in negotiations over the forthcoming relief package.

Quote

Trump's testing proposition puts him at odds with Senate Republicans, who have proposed $25 billion in grants to states for testing and contact tracing, as well as about $10 billion for the CDC and $15 billion for the NIH, the sources said.

I was speaking of another report. You said that a reporter was lying for saying that hospital staff are overwhelmed with Covid patients.

Can you say with absolute certainty that hospital staff were not feeling overwhelmed with Covid patients?  You say that the reason they are overwhelmed is because they are understaffed. That may also be true, but it doesn't make the previous statement a lie, necessarily. It could still be factually true. When hospital staff are understaffed, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were overwhelmed with Covid patients. I would bet shocked if they weren't!   You then said that 3,000 hospital staff were let off and that is why they are overwhelmed.  How many of those actually work with Covid patients though?  That seems like an important figure to now about before making calling someone a "liar" and wishing them to hell.  I feel confident that critical care nurses who work directly with severe Covid patients are probably the most highly vaccinated population in the hospital...by choice.  I am willing to bet the margins of nurses who refuse vaccination who work with critical care patients are minuscule and that lay offs did not adversely effect them as much as other areas of the hospital.

I am with you though in that I agree that it is misleading when reporters don't give the full context, even if what they are saying is technically true.

Talk about shame and cancel culture, something I thought you were against.

I didn't cancel anyone.  Cancel culture is a system in which people or groups of people have their lives or careers destroyed by false and misleading declarations all for the sin of disagreeing.  I don't want this reporter to be cancelled or to go to Hell, I just want him to be honest.

Quote

Can you say with absolute certainty that hospital staff were not feeling overwhelmed with Covid patients?

The report was misleading and done so intentionally.  Being "overwhelmed" is very subjective.  If a hospital has two Covid patients but does not have the staff to care for them and all of their other patients, they could be overwhelmed, but this has nothing to do with the number of actual Covid patients, it has much more to do with the lack of staff.  The article was written in a way to imply that the hospital was bombarded with a constant flow of Covid patients, yet there was never any mention of how many their actually were, nor was there any mention of how short staffed the hospital was.  It turns out, the hospital did not have an increase in Covid patients nor did they have very many, they were just very short staffed as a direct result of the governor dismissing healthcare workers.  The only thing true in the article was that the nursing staff felt overwhelmed, but that was not the point of the article, it was written in a way to deceive and make people think that there was a massive surge in Covid hospitalizations.  I am sure , over the past two years, there have been hospitals that truly were overwhelmed with Covid patients, but in this case it was a flat out lie.  Why?  What was the motivation?

Quote

Have you talked to the critical care staff to see if he was lying?  You say that the reason they are overwhelmed is because they are understaffed.  That may also be true, but it doesn't make the previous statement a lie, necessarily.  It could still be factually true.  When hospital staff are understaffed, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were overwhelmed with Covid patients.  I would bet shocked if they weren't!

I answered all of this above.  I would have had no problem whatsoever if the reported was simply honest and said that the hospital was overwhelmed due to being short staffed, fueled by the governor's vaccine mandate.  That would have covered all of the bases and been truthful.  For whatever reason he chose not to.  His article was a lie, it was pure propaganda.  The sad thing is that he will not be held accountable by anyone and those that picked up the story and repeated it, will not apologize

Quote

You then said that 3,000 hospital staff were let off and that is why they are overwhelmed.  What you neglected to mention is how many of those actually work with Covid patients.

I have no idea how many of those worked with Covid patients and neither do you, that information was not reported.  That seems quite irrelevant anyway.  If they are short staffed, even if they have all of their critical care staff in place, who do you think gets called on to fill the gaps?

Quote

That seems like an important figure to now about before making calling someone a "liar" and wishing them to hell.

It was a lie and I did not wish anyone to Hell.  Why are you defending this kind of reporting?  Is there some reason you can't bring yourself to agree with me on something.  There are plenty of things to report on honestly that can have an honest impact on people's behavior, why does there seem to be a need to make things up?  It only makes things worse.

Quote

I feel confident that critical care nurses who work directly with severe Covid patients are probably the most highly vaccinated population in the hospital...by choice.  I am willing to bet the margins of nurses who refuse vaccination who work with critical care patients are minuscule and that lay offs did not adversely effect them as much as other areas of the hospital.

You may be correct, but regardless, if the rest of the hospital is severely understaffed, it will be felt in critical care as well.  Those workers are going to have to bear a heavier load to make up the difference.

Quote

I am with you though in that I agree that it is misleading when reporters don't give the full context, even if what they are saying is technically true.

It could be forgivable if it was a minor oversight, but, as I said earlier, using a small truth to tell a big lie, is evil.

What was your assessment of Trump's handling of the pandemic?  Was he honest and non manipulative of the facts?

Is this where we are at, am I a Trump supporter?  How sad, this should have nothing to do with politics.  If you must know, I think Trump's policies were generally good for the country.  As a personality, I don't care for him much.  What do you make of Biden, recently saying in a Town Hall meeting,  "You’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations," and "If you’re vaccinated, you’re not going to be hospitalized, you’re not going to be in the ICU unit, and you’re not going to die."

THE PRESIDENT:  Well, the virus — look, here’s the — it’s real simple: We have a pandemic for those who haven’t gotten a vaccination.  It’s that basic, that simple.  Ten thousand people have recently died; 9,950 of them, thereabouts, are people who hadn’t been vaccinated.

There’s a simple, basic proposition: If you’re vaccinated, you’re not going to be hospitalized, you’re not going to be in an ICU unit, and you’re not going to die.

and

Quote

But again, one last thing.  I — we don’t talk enough to you about this, I don’t think.  One last thing that’s really important is: We’re not in a position where we think that any virus — including the Delta virus, which is much more transmissible and more deadly in terms of non — unvaccinated people — the vi- — the various shots that people are getting now cover that.  They’re — you’re okay.  You’re not going to — you’re not going to get COVID if you have these vaccinations.

It would seem that the statement by the president that you're not going to get COVID if you've been vaccinated probably should have been modified to say that it is unlikely.  This interview, it should be noted, is from 5 months ago before the Omicron variant.

"There’s a simple, basic proposition: If you’re vaccinated, you’re not going to be hospitalized, you’re not going to be in an ICU unit, and you’re not going to die."

while true in general, would not seem to cover every case, especially with the new Omicron variant.

I would back away from saying this is true in general.  I think it remains to be seen if the vaccines helped and to what degree.  The disease itself caused death in less than 1%, without the vaccines.  So relatively speaking we are talking about low numbers and we have still had many deaths post vaccination and among the vaccinated, not to mention vaccine injuries.  Also, the vaccines have proven to be ineffective as the virus mutates.  So, perhaps there is a misreading here?  Perhaps what is being considered as vaccine effectiveness is merely a result of the low percentage of people that die with or without the vaccines?  The low numbers might be hiding what the vaccines are doing and what would have happened anyway.  Also, the more variants there are the more meaningless the vaccines are at their current state.  The vaccinated and unvaccinated are getting omicron and that isn't remarkable given how the flu virus mutates, causing the flu shot to perennially have less than 50% effectiveness and sometimes as low as 20%.

We could be spending our time shaming the media for suggesting that nurses are overwhelmed with Covid patients, when in fact they are short staffed - wishing that those liars would burn in hell - but that all seems so angelic in comparison to what is happening within the ever-more-present extreme right.

SALT LAKE CITY — One-time Utah tech entrepreneur and state GOP fundraiser Dave Bateman sent an email to a long list of tech sector executives, elected officials and other state leaders Tuesday claiming "the Jews" are behind the COVID-19 vaccines and part of a "sadistic effort underway to euthanize the American people."

"I believe there is a sadistic effort underway to euthanize the American people. It's obvious now. It's undeniable, yet no one is doing anything. Everyone is discounting their own judgment and dismissing their intuition.

"I believe the Jews are behind this."

Bateman is the co-founder of Entrata, a company launched in 2003 that developed a cloud-based software suite that automates many of the tasks that come with managing multifamily developments. Last July, the company said it was processing more than $20 billion in rent payments annually through its platform and serving more than 20,000 apartment communities across the United States.

In his email, Bateman also cites further misinformation about COVID-19 including that PCR diagnostic tests are carcinogenic and urges recipients to not get vaccinated.

Bateman also expounds on his antisemitic conspiracy claims.

"For 300 years the Jews have been trying to infiltrate the Catholic Church and place a Jew covertly at the top," Bateman wrote. "It happened in 2013 with Pope Francis. I believe the pandemic and systematic extermination of billions of people will lead to an effort to consolidate all the countries in the world under a single flag with totalitarian rule.

"I know, it sounds bonkers. No one is reporting on it, but the Hasidic Jews in the US instituted a law for their people that they are not to be vaccinated for any reason."
