Geez, some people.  Hope he didn't wreck too much stuff.

Police are saying he broke in at around 3:30 in the morning.  They found he had locked himself into one of the locker rooms, they have him in custody.

I cannot access Salt Lake Tribune website from where I am.  Maybe someone else can to get more details about this?

I thought the OP said it was on KUTV.

Did you try Deseret News? Or the Logan Herald-Journal?

I hope this prompts the Church leaders to take more effective security measures at our temples.

Scott do you think there was a silent alarm for the building?

Did he lock himself in intentionally or was he really stupid and accidentally locked himself inside? Hoping for the latter.

What's bonkers is that the mission home here is somehow linked to some Church security group in SLC, the sister missionaries somehow "accidentally" broke in and triggered some alarm and SLC was notified, you'd think the Temples would be better protected if the mission homes are

By 8:30 a.m., Peter Abraham Ambrose, 34, of Smithfield, was found hiding inside a locked room, he said. Police had initially cleared the scene after being unable to find Ambrose, but were called back when temple workers discovered him, the affidavit states.

Ambrose was taken to police headquarters to be interviewed where he told detectives he was upset because it was Christmas and he couldn’t see his children, and because he “can’t get any LDS girls to date him,” Hooley said he told police.

“He stated he used the ladder to climb over the fence. He used the ax to break into the temple and smashed it into a mirror and left it in the wall,” according to the affidavit.

Hell, I can't get any Latter-day Saint girls to date me, but I'm sure as heck not gonna break into a Temple and vandalize it with a fire extinguisher and an axe over it. ;) :D

Seriously, it sounds as if this guy definitely needs some help.  I hope he gets it, and I hope officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are instrumental in helping him in that regard.

No idea. I would hope so.

Some temples are never fully empty. A lot of cleaning, brass polishing etc happens overnight. Yet if you were in the right place at the right time, missing maintenance crews, it might take some time to be discovered

Probably the former unfortunately. There is a walkthrough of all rooms before the doors are locked.
