I watched the first 20ish minutes, exciting stuff!

I was so confused about why we were talking about the renovations if they weren't going to be started until December 2029.

Pres. Nelson clarified it! I was wondering that me self. It's nuts that Pres. Hinckley started the whole thing or was advised back then to do something

I saw that.  I loved how he said "Is that the first mistake I've made today?"  (or something to that effect).  I wonder how this is going to affect temple square missions?

President Nelson covered it well: “Is that the only mistake I’ve made all day?”

Trust President Oaks with his legal mind to catch it immediately.

Sounds like a portion of Temple Square will remain open and functional, including the Notth Visitors Center, where the Christus statue is located.

So there will be no realignment of temple districts in the interim. Nearby temples, including the one in Draper, where I serve, will accommodate temple patrons while the project is underway. And the current S.L. temple presidency and temple workers will be released.

Noteworthy that endowment sessions will continue the legacy live presentations, but there will also be audiovisual presentations, allowing for sessions in many different languages.

It's going to be a little crazy.

Our temple is the Bountiful Temple and last month both the SLC and the Ogden temple was closed for a while and oh my goodness, it was a mad house.  Patron's were parking in the driving lanes in the temple parking lot and it took us 3 1/2 hours for 6 kids from our youth program to get to do 2 names each for baptisms.  We walked out the door at 9:45 PM and there were still people in the waiting room for the baptistry waiting to get in so they could wait some more in the baptistry.  The workers were running ragged but were dedicated to getting in every single person in who had come, regardless of how late they had to stay open.

🤩That was in the QA and they said it wouldn't affect anything. Correct me if I am wrong but are they putting in two new buildings for an entrance? and two smaller VCs instead of the South Visitor Centre?

Yes, that’s correct. The temple annex and the South Visitors Center are going away, to be replaced by two buildings each on the north and south. This will facilitate much better street views of the temple, in part because the wall portions on those sides of Temple Square will be removed.

I really like this.  I find I can pay attention to a person more than a movie.

That pleases me.  I would have been sad to see the historic building filled with movie screens instead.  Live actors provide something special.

Is Salt Lake the only one left using actors?

I believe Manti also does live presentations, though I’m not sure if that has changed recently.

Oh my gosh.

Would someone please put out some links so people outside of Utah or who missed the broadcast know what the heck you guys are talking about?

Even a summary might be nice...

Welcome to everywhere else in the church.

Don't forget to add in the time it even takes to get to the temple from Timbuktu

We get a three month close-down from a huge temple into a tiny one only 50 miles away.  It will be a piece of cake I am sure. (sarcasm)  My driving time for 25 miles can be two hours alone in our traffic.  :)

The walls around Temple Square are coming down—or at least a big portion of the walls along North Temple and South Temple.  It will make it possible to see the Temple from both directions.  It should help Temple Square feel much more inviting and less fortress-like.

I used to live in the Billings MT temple district (1 1/2 hours away from the temple) and it was nothing like going to the temple here.  It was rarely busy, and typically only ever so on Saturdays.  When we were in the Bismarck ND temple district you could pretty much have the run of the place whenever you wanted.  The only place I’ve ever had a similar experience with temple business like Utah was in Idaho.

It takes about 25 minutes to get to the Bountiful temple from where I live but if you go at the right time of day it’s not usually worse than that, thankfully.

But I'm very thankful to live somewhere where the temple is close. 😊

Well, this confirms one thing: the Second Coming won't occur before December 2023!

Temple Square, not the Salt Lake Temple itself.

There is a wall that historically has surrounded the temple block. Portions will be removed on the north and the south to give a better street view of the temple.
