strappinglad Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Was the ability to go to the " last post read" removed? I liked being able to go to where I left off, particularly on big threads. Mind you, I also upgraded to Windows 10 ( boy what a mistake!) so that may have something to do with it. 1
The Nehor Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Well, now that you are back I can heal. The rehab clinic tells me I should be off the methadone within the month and I just made my AA "One Day Sober" mark. It was a rough few days. 2
Calm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 You can do last post read by hitting the dot/star at the beginning of the title still. Apparently "ignored" posters don't even show their name now (I had some on ignore that I need to take a breath before reading, but still want to read).

That was a very nice feature.

If you have too much trouble getting off methadone, I've heard heroin can help. Edited December 6, 2015 by cinepro

Calm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I am finding the "unread" indicator switching to "read" inappropriately is happening a lot more than it did with the old version. I am missing a lot of posts if I rely on the the board telling me what was the last post I read on a thread rather than going back and reviewing. I never could figure out why a thread would suddenly be marked as "read" when before I went and read another thread it was marked as "unread", but it was obvious enough when it happened that I caught most of them. Now it is happening so often it is much more confusing. Perhaps it will settle down though.

On some posts in other threads, quoted passages don't have any marking to distinguish them (except being a bit more indented). There appears to be no way to get out of WYSIWYG mode and into BBCode mode. Not an option any longer?

Calm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Spam filter is too sensitive. It deletes a post just because it has the name of an anti-depressant in it that starts with P, has a z and ends with c.
Calm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Trying out one of the problems for the old board: ****ens 1

Scott Lloyd Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Hey Calm, is your zombie emoticon still with us? Yup. There it is.
Tacenda Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) I'm with Bluebell and Jeanne, I had withdrawal issues when the site was down, lol!! ETA: Have any of you continually looked at the time on the computer and kept thinking, "Ok, I'll get off in 15 min." then think "Ok, maybe in a half hour!" And so on? Paloma Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) I'm not sure where I should be asking this, especially as I've never before asked a question regarding board function. Having written a response to a thread since the new site update, i noticed that the little ' heart icon + "like this" ' black rectangle in the bottom right corner is missing from my post. I like that little heart, and wonder if there's a reason it's not on my post, and if I need to be doing something to access it. Thanks! Edited December 4, 2015 by Paloma checking for heart icon and yup, it's missing!

I'm guessing it's because we won't be tempted to give ourselves a "like"!! 1

Not to derail, but I've been prompted to upgrade to Windows 10, sounds like I better hold off. If so I'm glad I saw this post.

And so on? More like two hours later. I have no sense of time. ---- An issue...there seems to be no way to turn off the automatic coding so that formatting can be corrected. For example, when adding a quote in an edit, I accidentally put my entire post into a quote format. No 'lightswitch' option to go to so I can edit formatting itself. Big problem imo given that formatting from other sites can really screw up posts when copy/pasting.
strappinglad Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Tacenda, your results may be different, but make sure you know all your passwords because they will all disappear and you will have to login again to most sites. Also, I completely lost Internet Explorer.I have to learn new places for ' clicking ' This, after I was promised that I would lose none of my files. Oh well, I suppose it keeps the old brain sharp relearning new processes. As for the ' last read post ' thing , the dot/star at the front of the title fades afterI view it once and doesn't return until I go out of MDD for a while.
Calm Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) That is strange. The dot reappears for me as soon as there is a new post. I am finding I have to "refresh" the page after writing or editing a post as it doesn't automatically add new posts (even though it posts my own new post) that were written during the time I was adding stuff so I've missed a number of posts unless I've gone back and reread for some reason. The old version would post the new posts along with my own new post iirc, so I could instantly see if new posts were added if I read 'up' the page from my post. Since it isn't automatic now, I need to refresh the page prior to reading up/back. Edited December 4, 2015 by Calm
MorningStar Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 GG says she can't reply in threads. When she clicks on the reply box, the cursor doesn't show up. She's still on XP and probably has a rather old version of Internet Explorer. Could that be why?
