Jeeze every Sunday I am urged from the pulpit to put my faith in Christ and God the Father. We may not use the exact phrase "grace of Christ" as often as other faiths, but surely it's not the wording that matters.

In response to Paddys question regarding True Grace I offer this view by one non LDS Christian - http://www.hallvwort....com/grace.html . And I leave it to you to know by way of the Holy Ghost if you are a True Orthodox LDS. May True Grace be with you.

Nope, if you can't bootstrap your way to perfection by never sinning from birth then you are going straight to hell where you shall eat naughtt but burning hot coals and drink naught but burning hot coal. Fiery demons poke you in the back and your soul will be chopped into confettit and strewn on a parade of murderers and single mothers and the remains eaten by ravenous birds.

I think you made a spelling mistake . .. drink naught but burning hot COLA.. ! That's what make hell endurable.

Mormons have a slightly different view of the purpose of life. There is more to life than avoiding hell and going to heaven. For Mormons life is all about progression and becoming something better. I think much of the confusion concerning the doctrine of grace stems from this difference of perspective. Because of the grace of Christ we have the ability to progress.

Could you tell me the difference in true grace and grace? If one believes that we are saved in and through the blood of the Son of God can we believe in a false grace? How can a LDS not believe in "true" grace?

The article is rather long and ultimately, the opinions expressed are those of the author and not of God. Perhaps you could summarize what you interpret the authors opinion is and how it relates to mormon doctrine.

Do you mean a Grace that does not require "everything you can do"?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Every time I hear the phrase "a true whatever," I start thinking about the logical fallacy "No true Scotsman."

Alice: All Scotsmen enjoy haggis.

Bob: My uncle is a Scotsman, and he doesn't like haggis!

Alice: Well, all true Scotsmen like haggis.

Is "True Grace" something that is easily defined, self-defining, or very difficult to define?

Is your definition, my definition, or even John Doe's definition of "True Grace" the same or even close to the Lord's definition of "True Grace?" Has the Lord even given us his definition of "True Grace?"

Who gets to define what an Orthodox Mormon is or isn't and how they think, act, or believe? Is your definition of "orthodox" even the same as my definition? Remember that "orthodox" means "straight/right thinking" or "correct belief." "Heterodox" means "other thinking" or "contrary to or different from an acknowledged standard."

Usually when somebody starts using the word "orthodox," I immediately start thinking "Who is this person to be the final arbiter what is "right thinking" and what is "wrong thinking?"

I will willingly concede that only "The Nehor" can truly define what/who is or isn't "ultra-orthodox." You see, he lives in his own little world and.....

From my POV, the Church doesn't have a very structured theology that's can be used to set a solid definition for what is orthodox or heterodox.

I guess that the 13 Articles of Faith could be used as a standard, but that would still leave a whole lot of other stuff open for interpretation by the individual? That is unless you are "The Nehor."

Is it possible to be an Orthodox Mormon and still have incorrect beliefs or understandings of the truth?

So many questions, sorry.

I think the point he was trying to make is that "True Orthadox LDS" is not a meaningful term for LDS people, so it's hard to respond to.

True grace is taught by King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon. Mosiah Chapter 2.

What do you mean by the additional question "or are they damned forever"? Edited by calmoriah

If we did not believe in true grace, there would not be any point to being a Mormon. I am an orthodox Mormon (I suppose) precisely because I do believe in the true grace offered to me from the Father, by the Son, and through the Holy Ghost.
