Fun Article About White House Ward

Anti-Mormons are always so classy that way. Magic Undies indeed.

I don't know what the big deal is for critics to target garments. Their just underwear. Would it be appropriate for LDS to make fun of the various types of underwear worn by others of different faiths? It's actually a really awkward conversation anyway. Am I just off my rocker or are there bigger issues than underwear that the critics could be addressing? I don't see what the excitement is.

This is a very light and positive article about the ward Mitt Romney would attend should be occupy the White House. Of course, there is mostly speculation about how that could or would actually happen. They sound like a great group of members who would be ready to welcome the president into the ward family.

Washington D.C. Third Ward

Why is the building so big?

Of course, you really want to skip the comments.

The comments are the fun part.

  • Mormon: I would invite all you non-mormon critics to invite the missionaries into your homes to learn what you are being so critical about.
  • Non-LDS Christian1: How ever the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are heretics so why should they associate with its members?
  • NLC2: How about open your hearts and read your HOLY BIBLE for guidance and the truth...not the book of mormon. JESUS never mentioned that as something to follow.

Also,

  • Some Person: The Mormon Church owns many for-profit businesses (like TV stations, shopping malls, gold mines) whose profits go to the Church without being taxed. There is no reason why Churches should be allowed to avoid paying taxes on the for-profit companies they own.
  • Mormon: The Mormon church does pay taxes on it's "for profit" businesses. Get your facts straight. Here's a fact you might be interested in: The Mormon church's Chapels and Temples are "Debt" free. They do not have mortgages. They can NOT be dedicated and used until they are "dedicated" and they are NOT dedicated until the last bill for the buildings are paid.

And something about the MMM being Mormon terrorism. Actually, these comments weren't as good as I was anticipating.

Porn-hounds focus on the thing which is most important to them.

I think the Romney's might have to be home/church schooled. I'd think the chaos they'd create everytime they came to church with security and everything would be too much. And not condusive to the spirit. Maybe it would work, but not sure, since it's never happened before.

I think that you are wrong. I think that things would go pretty much as usual, and the Mormon Secret Service agents selected for that duty could take the Sacrament, go to Sunday School, and HP group meeting. A win-win for all concerned. The ward they'd be attending is mostly Democrat and ethnically mixed, so I don't see anyone fawning over the Pres or seeking recognition. Most members would just hope and pray that the Pres could get the job done, and would probably feel sorry for him. After all, the bureaucracy in D.C. eats presidents for breakfast.

I agree with RFS, but even if there was "chaos" the first time they came, I suspect there would be less the second time, and even less the third time, and before long the novelty would wear off and it would become samo-samo. As I've said before, I've been in wards with "celebrities", even some pretty big ones, and LDS appear to have a huge capacity to not get distracted after the first couple of visits.

The Romney's attend Church NOW... with Secret Service... there are enough LDS in the Secret Service that could be assigned to the Romneys that it would not disrupt things... you make too much of it. Through the years the U.S. presidents have attended church, i.e., I remember the Clintons going to church. So what would be different about the Romneys?

The biggest issue would be the sightseers who came to the church just to see Romney up close and personal, but this must have happened with other presidents who regularly attended the same church so while it may seem unusual to us, it is business as usual for the secret service.

And why not use nonLDS as the agents, great opportunity for missionary work, don't you know!;)
