The whole fiasco with the leadership and the Community of Christ and their drive towards Liberalism, and then the various men that have set themselves up as "prophets" and led people away (Lee Abrahamson, Marcus Juby, Jeff Lundgren, etc...) Because of those things there are Saints that are suspicious of the motives of any person that seeks to step forward in faith and do something different then the "rules" established soon after 1984 to keep the Branches "pure".

I don't believe Bro. Price is doing too well. His son has taken over day to day operations of Price Publishing. Richard is not involved. In spite of the good he did do, in many ways he is the reason the many Branches are stuck on the hampster wheel, to afraid to move forward with any effort to further organize. He doesn't support any cooperative efforts that involve organization, and is apparently waiting for the LORD to personally stroll into a Community of Christ conference release everyone and set everything in order- and unfortunately has many convinced of his position.

It is odd that Richard Price would remain so staunch after so much time has passed with so little, if any, results.

Are many of the Branches willing to move forward? Or is it hit or miss from congregant to congregant?

What congregation did Price attend?

Agreed... which is why the average LDS recalcitrance to discuss "Heavenly Mother" has baffled me. I actually appreciated Hermana C's candidness.

To me, this recalcitrance is simple. It is fairly clear that Heavenly Father has at least two spouses (Mary being one)- perhaps many more. The reluctance to discuss a heavenly mother comes largely from a reluctance to dive back into discussions on polygamy. It was much more openly discussed when it was part of the "celestial marriage" dialogue.

I am not sure that is the reason. For me I seldom bring up Heavenly Mother because we have so little that is known about her. How would I know that there are two spouses? Where does it indicate Mary was God's spouse or that Mary was not his spouse in the pre-existence? Revelation has not clarified this topic and it is folly to assume that we know the mysteries of heaven so well that we speak when ignorant.

I enjoy singing "O My Father" (unless the chorister drags it out and it turns into a funeral dirge), but that is about as much as we know; we have a mother there. I am a very common fellow, certainly not unique, and I expect that the majority of LDS feel like I do. Why speculate? I appreciate the quote from Coleridge, "Christianity is not a theory or speculation, but a life; not a philosophy of life, but a life and a living process." I am too busy trying to live my life in accordance Jesus' teachings that I don't have time for this type of unanswerable pursuit.

Like many who staunchly adopt a position, I believe Richard has some pride that doesn't allow him to admit he may be wrong.

There are 6 or 7 Restoration Branches fully participating in Independence and a few more outside the area, including Africa and India. There are a few individual supporters in Branches that don't participate. People are slowly trickling in as they learn what is actually going on instead of relying on rumors by those opposed to the Conference and through the missionary efforts of the Seventy.

Bro. Price attends the Glendale Restoration Branch.

I'm curious if any of the Arizona branches will be joining in. As I said before, I attended a branch in Phoenix.

I can find out if there is any interest in AZ, my wife is filling in at the Conference office this month.
