Calm Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) Now to figure out how to fill my husband's at home time (no primary, no achievement days or whatever they are called for boys, online course teaching, me doing shopping because I am awake in the middle of the night to avoid crowds, too cold for motorcycle rides and hikes)....what projects were we going to do come summer break time. What to do with our time now, after we read our lessons, I wonder. It's like a vacation from the Church! ... but not from living the gospel as well as we can. 3

Knowing the Church has released this news to the press/reporters tells me they have already contacted the Area Authorities too, who are then to pass the news down to the Stake leaders, who are then to notify the Ward and Branch leaders, who are then to notify us, officially. We are not dependent on press/reporters but the news can come to us that way, too, which we sometimes see before our Church leaders tell us themselves. Edited March 12, 2020 by Ahab 1

This is like trying to figure out what our Church leaders will tell us before they actually tell us what they are going to tell us, isn't it. And this is a fun game, too, isn't it. Stargazer Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 (edited) Our stake here in England just got news that affects the London Temple: Quote We have been notified by the first Presidency that all senior missionaries from the USA will be returning back home leaving the UK on Friday 13th March. As a result of this the temple schedule will have to be reduced as follows: Friday 13th March: The temple will open for the first endowment at 13:00 and will continue through to the 20:00 endowment session. All baptistry sessions have been cancelled but Initiatory and Sealing’s will be open intermittently. Saturday 14th March: The temple will be open for the 09:00, 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00 endowment sessions. All baptistry sessions have been cancelled but Initiatory and Sealing’s will be open intermittently. 16th – 30th March: The temple will be closed for maintenance. Currently we don’t know what the schedule will be when the temple re-opens Tuesday 31st March but once decisions have been made we will send out an update. Since this was from the London Temple to stake presidencies in the London Temple district, I imagine that this will also apply to the Preston Temple as well. I suspect that other international temples with senior missionaries from the USA will likewise be sending those missionaries home. I like that I'm able to bless the sacrament emblems myself for myself and my wife and since my wife has major health concerns already without this coronavirus thing on top of that we'll probably just keep it between the 2 of us in our own home. I don't know what others will do or what they are able to do but I'm sure the bishop will help to sort all of that out and let us know somehow, I'm guessing probably through a text and/or email message and/or maybe even also a phone call. Probably not by personally visiting each member of the ward, though, which would expose them to whatever illness everyone in the ward has or may have, which would probably not be a safe thing for them or their own families.

The Bishops and Stake Presidents will have to decide how to meet that recommendation to get the sacrament to members at least once a month. In some areas it may not be feasible. The concern will be for households with no Priesthood or only Deacons and Teachers present. So someone will have to go there or assign them to meet with another family maybe. My Bishop is meeting with the Stake President to discuss this right now (they already had a meeting planned). We are not sure whether to go forward with our Bishopric meeting tonight. I floated the idea of a Sunday email with what amounts to mini-sacrament meeting talks from various members (thank you digital communication) and a message from the Bishopric with the counsel to hold a family worship service with that and Come Follow Me. We’ll see. We live in interesting times. Time to find out if it is a curse to do so.

I know of at least two bishops who are saying no so far to doing it yourself sacraments and instead are planning on providing somehow (maybe local missionaries)? Well, the counsel is to make sure if possible that everyone can partake monthly so it may not be an “every week” thing. It could be an idea to have everyone do it in their home as part of General Conference. I am not saying they will but it is possible.
