Not sure how significant this is. I think this means they are getting more help with the Tammy Daybell case.

Just for clarity or those not closely following, this is considered a different case than what she is currently held for, which is desertion of her kids, etc.  Only Vallow is charged, not Daybell...though he might be charged with lying to law enforcement (said he hardly knew Vallow when they had just been married, tried to talk their friend into claiming JJ was with her in AZ, etc)

That appears to still be handled by Madison County.

This is the Fremont County prosecution of conspiracy, attempted murder (likely the 'paintball' incident) and murder and involves both Vallow and Daybell, not just Vallow.

Speculation is that because the investigation is not also being taken over, that is pretty much complete and charges will be brought very soon, maybe even today.  However, the autopsy and toxicology reports are reported as not finished, so that speculation seems a bit premature to me.  Still the announcement suggests movement relatively soon, imo.

And this saga continues. I wish they could find the kids. Lori Vallow locked Charles out of his life insurance account by changing his password. He had to write them and send a notarized beneficiary change form.

What I want to know is why he felt secure enough after all of this for her to have charge of JJ even assuming Charles figured it was Tylee taking care of him. Did he think Tylee would keep JJ safe and Lori wouldn’t hurt JJ with Tylee watching him?

He probably erroneously bought into the "myth" of the maternal instinct. While most of us (mothers) have it, unfortunately some don't. And even among the "haves", there is still a huge range of its expression.

I don't know if it's fake. I emailed them and said if it wasn't legitimate I'd report it. It is fishy because it's asking for a million bucks, and so far 10 dollars has been donated, lol.

I have no doubt it is fake. I am also certain you are not the only one reporting it whether they think it legitimate or not.  I don’t think it is a bad idea to report just in case it appears I think otherwise.

Dateline this Friday with an interview with the niece, Melani P and her new husband.  Melani is accused of being involved in a shooting at her husband, her response before was he was involved with nasty stuff and it had nothing to do with her so doubt there will be value on that.  However, most of the details about the ‘cult’ came out through her new husband, so that is likely going to be discussed.  Hopefully we might even get the theory behind the claimed hiding of the kids. She or her husband in the clips below say it is all hyped and there is no “cult”, so doubt it will be very helpful.

I just read a comment somewhere else that makes me wonder if true. I c/p'd part of the quote below. How many of us were told the same thing and could this be the mindset of preppers like the Daybell's?

A few thoughts:

1. People like to feel "special."  This may stem from boredom with the humdrum of daily life, from ego/pride, etc.

2. One way to be "special" is to have unique, compartmentalized knowledge, or access to it.  Years ago I was in a "Military Intelligence" battalion of the Utah Army National Guard.  My position required me to have a "Top Secret" security clearance.  I remember the day an investigator (a retired FBI agent) showed up at my workplace and interviewed my supervisor and a few co-workers about me.  Afterwards, I received the clearance.  This felt . . . cool.  It was undoubtedly an ego thing, as the actual "Top Security" stuff I learned by way of my clearance was boring as all get-out.  Still, I had access to information that was unavailable to most people.  It made me feel "special" in a way (a prideful way, in hindsight).

3. The folks described in the above post rely heavily on creating a nexus between

• A) emergency preparedness (which is eminently sensible in the abstract, but which can be, and sometimes is, taken to unreasonable extremes),
• B) religious devotion as espoused by the Church (a legitimate and upright facet of the human experience, but which can also be taken to unreasonable extremes), and
• C) doomsday predictions and alarmism (which is inherently extreme, and which purports to contain "more" than what the Church teaches).

I suspect that adopting a worldview based on this nexus makes these folks feel "special" in the same sort of ego-driven way I did when I had a TS clearance, except their ego trips are extreme.  Like, on steroids.

I've spent the last few years improving my emergency preparations.  Food storage.  Water filtration and storage.  Off-grid means of heating my house (wood stove) and cooking food (rocket stove).  Fuel storage (wood).  I've spent some money on these efforts, but nothing inordinate.  I am also a pretty religious guy.  So I fit, to a limited extent, items (A) and (B) above.  But I feel no socio-cultural or philosophical affinity with the doomsday prepper folks.  They are my brothers and sisters, of course, but they do not speak for me.

4. There is also a very strong element of priestcraft amongst the doomsday prepper folks.  

"For, behold, priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion.  ... But the laborer in Zion shall labor for Zion; for if they labor for money they shall perish."  (2 Nephi 26:29, 31)

I wrote about this last year (see here).  Julie Rowe, Chad Daybell, and others in the "Mormon" version of the "doomsday prepper" movement are all making money off it (or were, things seem to be unraveling).
