Based on many years of experience, I can say that when I have had a good measure of the Spirit of the Lord in my heart general conference has been wonderfully interesting, spiritually edifying and quite often deeply moving. When I haven't had much of the Lord's Spirit within me, the very same kinds of conference addresses have been far less spiritually satisfying. Though I must say I've never had conference experiences anywhere near as spiritually vapid as yours. The law of the harvest applies as much to the general conference experience as it does to anything else in life. When one sows to the Spirtit, he or she will reap a spiritual harvest in direct proportion to the diligence applied in sowing to the Spirit; but when one sows to the flesh, he or she can expect to reap nothing but weeds, dust and stone. Sooner or later the day will come when you realize your bored and llistless responses to general conference have been your own fault. Your comments are only to be expected because things of God will inevitably seem to be a foolish -- and boring -- waste of time to the natural man. Edited March 31, 2017 by Bobbieaware 7

I agree that your time can be better spent doing something other than pretending you are interested or playing with your phone. I do not understand why you say that you will “probably read” a few of these boring talks, especially since you are so sure they will say nothing that we haven’t heard “1000 times already.” BTW, wouldn’t the time you spent posting this comment have been better spent with your “family enjoying nature and … exercising?” 4

Also, this post took me maybe one minute or so, but conference is what...8-10 hours!? Two days of conference (plus the priesthood session) is longer than the average work day. 1

It's painfully too long IMO...I mean, church is already too long IMO at 3 hours...but conference is like going to church three times back to back to back. Do they need to proclaim something new to enjoy it and be edified? Every time I eat a peach I don't complain that I have one every year. I look forward to it every year in its season. The word of God is a lot like life - you get out of it what you put in. It can be boring as heck, or completely inspiring. Some people are bored to death with science and would rather be "exercising", while other's who apply themselves to the subject are exhilarated by it. 7

In comfortable leather reclining chairs/loveseats like I have in my home. And you/I/we can pause it at any time, or skip through the parts you/I/we don't want to watch. And have snacks like popcorn and soda/lemonade/water to eat with your/my/our popcorn. My wife and I will usually watch 1 or 2 conference addresses during an evening and then talk for a while or watch something else before going to bed. It's perfect for a family home evening activity. 1

I hope you got him a new tie to wear and that you'll be going to the chapel for it. Normally I watch it at home now, later the next week, but that's what I would do for that special occasion.

Probably not, but I actually enjoy hearing/reading the Word of God over and over again, a bit like enjoying a medium-rare T-bone steak each time one comes my way (which, sadly, is less often than General Conference). 4

The differences is -- peaches taste good and it would be "two" peaches a year... 10 hours of essentially the same message/talk (twice a year) IMO is too much...
