I've Retired!

I send you all good wishes as you embark on this new road... will you still post here?  One thing my dear hubby learned when he retired was that he had to have some real interests... there's only so much golf he could play... so he further developed several activities and interests, including building a terrific work area in the garage for his woodworking... and pursuing his photography.

Good Luck...

I am apparently addicted to this place!  Although I've been spending less time contributing as of late.  I've got three weeks to get my affairs settled here in the US before flying to the UK to be with my beloved, so I am going to have my work cut out for me.  As a happy sufferer of Attention Deficit Disorder, this will be a challenge, but I believe I will be up to it! :D

I do think that writing is going to be my new real interest.  Although I did tell my wife that my new profession will be loving her, I think that will more of an avocation than a job.

Writing and Attention Deficit Disorder may not work together well. But, if you have already written a couple of books you have already learned how to deal with it. Best wishes to you and your beloved as you embark on a new phase of your life.

My hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed a 3-week vacation to the British Isles (not nearly enough time) but wonderful just the same.  We loved the Cotswold Country, and I'm happy thinking of all the wonderful exploring you and your wife will do... We rented a car in London and just headed out to "experience" England, with side trips to Wales and Scotland, and across to Ireland.... Enjoy!

When I lived in the UK back in 1969-71 we lived in Cheltenham, which is surrounded by it.  Wendy's familiar with the Cotswolds and loves it, and shortly after I get there, we'll be heading out to a little B&B in the middle of it for a few days!

When is D-day?

By D-day I assume you mean the day I fly to the UK?  That's Sept 23.  This coming Friday.

I'd love to have both you and Jeanne, but unfortunately I can only take two bags, and they're both going to be overfull!  No room in the Inn, as it were!

I will pay the extra baggage fee for a third bad and squeeze in that one.

Travel safely dear brother... The thing that amazed me when my hubby and I went to the British Isles, was that one afternoon I was in San Francisco and the next afternoon there I was at Picadlilly Circus in London... what a wonderful time we had on our vacation...

Congratulations on your retirement and your plans to travel.  I love the UK.  So much history is there.

Several things...

One, we were impressed how we would be driving along and notice in a field among the cows or sheep, or on a hill, the crumbling stone ruins of a priory, or other stone ruin, and not one hint of graffiti or vandalism...

Second, the feeling we got standing beside the Tower of London, and other historical castles (William the Conqueror's castle dating to 1066 A.D.) and other sites like York... and how surprised we were at how small the men (and probably women) must have been, probably about 5' - 5' 6" based on the size of the metal armor on display... and the height of the door jambs... We stayed in a Cotswold village at the Royalist Hotel, that had some parts dating to 986 A.D.

I could go on and on... our trip was amazing...

Thanks for the well-wishes! We are now in The Cotswolds for a mini-honeymoon, not far from where Abulafia lives, in fact. We've visited my old home and school in Cheltenham, the beautiful historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, and a few other amazing places.

Not sure what we'll do today, but I'm looking forward to it!
