Rpn, if you haven't put this link on the charities thread in Social, you should so I can give you another point. :)

I have mixed feelings on refugees. I keep seeing them committing sexual crimes against women and young children over in Europe in the news almost every day and question whether we should risk bringing that danger here.

There is a printer icon on the conference site which used to just go to a printer friendly text, but now it wants to link to a printer which I can't do on my ipad, but it might mean transcripts are ready.

I have not yet watched the conference but I think an emphasis on helping refugees in marvelously inspired and extremely important. Our children and their children will be thanking us for the good we do now, for pushing back against polarizing narratives and sharing the light of Christ instead of the politics of hate and fear.

I doubt that the rate of violence from refugees is any greater than other individuals in similar socioeconomic circumstances. Poverty is correlated to crime and refugees are much more likely to be poor.  We have several refugee families in our ward and they are wonderful.  One family, the wife was a victim of repeated violence in their home country and they home they can stay here.

The title of the next link is misleading. But it is worth a read:

Europe is having a tremendous problem at the moment. And this problem should not be taken lightly.

The sutuation in europe is much different than in the USA where refugees can be vetted. However, many european societies have been swamped by migrants and the numbers are overwhelming. Here is an interesting documentary from Germany by the ZDF TV station. It is a very reputable TV station, It compare Germany and Canada's immigration policies. The documentary was made just as the migrants were on their way to Germany in September 2015. There are English subtitles:

What to do if one is living in Europe? This reflects many European societies at the moment. This was the situation in Germany before the arrival of 1.5 million migrants.

Why me, no need for the links for my benefit. I am aware and I live in Europe.

I think the approach to refugees in Utah sounds ideal. The WSJ just did a story in it.

is their any news on violence et al committed against the refugees? In addition to that in Canada some mold muncher of a Priest alledgedly stole money collected from his congregation for refugee relief to pay his gambling debts or to gamble with, something like that.

It isn't quite that cut and dried.

The videos on the site RPN referred to was shown at the conference as well. I felt like the entire conference was a long answer to "who is my neighbor," giving face and personhood to people who are refugee populations, and our call to serve and reach out to the afflicted. It was also a powerful reminder that we are first all sisters and brothers, no matter, race, nationality, or religion. The choir was introduced as consisting of people representing 50 different nations and when they sung you could hear an accent that came out in their unified voices (the choir was also feasibly my favorite). Each talk focused on service and particularly the worldwide  plight of displaced refugee populations and their struggle in new foreign cultures/countries. They tied it to our own refugee periods in the early church and current experiences for people now. Religion was specifically and gently addressed in the one video. Overall the sentiment felt needed because the message around refugees have been focused on problem and fear related assertions. The humanity of the people are being lost in fear-mongering and xenophobia. The message was clear that as sisters we are called to serve and bring life/nurturing to the weary. There is no * or clause to who the weary are.

What do you think of the so-called "NO GO" zones where regular local law enforcement are not allowed to enter?  They are found in many European countries such as France (where severe rioting and car burnings have occurred), England, Germany, etc.  Sharia Law is being implemented wherever moslems can impose their will.  If it is so important to them, why can't they move to a Islamic country such as Indonesia or Turkey instead of trying to impose their values on western societies?  I am a US citizen that would strongly object to the US Constitution being set aside in favor of certain barbaric cultural practices in America.  Such as genital mutilation, beating of women, denying educational opportunities to young girls, etc.

Then you must know about the correlation between the muslims and rape in sweden and how dangerous it is to be jewish now in many european societies because of muslim immigrants who have adopted the Islamist world view. And the persecution of arab christians by the european islamists. The problem that europe is facing is the islamist world view of many immigrants. And the lack of documentation of many of the migrants who have arrived since august in europe and the countries that many of the young male migrants come from: Iraq and Afghanistan and just what they were learning in their mosques in their home countries.

In germany, they may soon have women only carriages because of the epidemci of sexual harassment.

But we need to question sources and their reliability. My point however is over what you stated in a previous post about crime and poverty. The number of rapes from the immigrant community does not support such a statement as you made. Much has to do with how islamists see women with western dress: naked yet clothed. Such was the statement for women's western dress codes in a new convert booklet for muslims from european converts.

Um, that is largely an urban myth, at least the way it is characterized.  The "proof" people initially used for the existence of no-go zones, at least in France, was the existing maps detailing "sensitive urban areas," which the government uses to focus resources like supplemental funding for schools, for example, after-school programs, etc... I've been in such areas myself without any problem. There may be areas where police do not like to enter, as can be the case in high crime areas of Americans in America.

The so-called "No Go" Zones are just that, a complete fabrication.

I'd say you need to watch less Fox News. The "no go" areas reported in your media are a pile of BS. They don't exist.

On the subject of Sharia Law, would you agree that a Mormon should be subject to both the law of the land they live in as well as the laws of the church? Why shouldn't Muslims be subject to both the law of the courts/police, as well as to the laws of their religious leaders? Would you tell British or Indonesian Mormons to move to Utah if they want to be subjected to Mormon discipline/standards?

As for female genital mutilation, that's as illegal in Europe as it is USA. It is also illegal in many of the African countries where it's practiced. It's a historical/cultural problem, not a religious/Islamic issue.

The level of misinformation in your comments suggest you need better sources.

Fox News is nonsense right wing propaganda. Find better sources.
