carbon dioxide Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Who is this lady? I've heard rumours of some fear-mongering, apocalyptic, disaster-peddler speaking at chapels or meetings in Utah and Idaho.Never heard of her outside of this place a week ago. I guess she had a NDE and making some claims as a result of it. I am not against NDE but I don't think one should speak about it to a whole bunch of people but keep such experiences sacred and only give not a few close people.
Duncan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) is she the Ogden spiritual healing lady? Edited August 16, 2015 by Duncan
Calm Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Julie Rowe...How much detail do you want?Author of two books on her visions, Emotion Code (energy healing) practitionerThis guy posts a lot of info:http://mormonism-unveiled.blogspot.com/2014/06/julie-rowe-discusses-her-nde-book.htmlHer claims really buy into a lot of folk belief and old teachings now rejected by leadership imo.Her politicking is highly distasteful as well. JulieM Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Is she allowed to use church buildings to hold her firesides and meetings? I know very little about her, but I have seen this posted and wonder why she can hold them in chapels and if anyone here has attended any of them. 1
Calm Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I don't think so. Originally yes, but then she had some dates she had to cancel and reschedule and then everything published was in public buildings (even if it appeared otherwise such as iirc the Rexburg Tabernacle...it is owned by the city, not the Church now).

So maybe now she meets in other locations?Someone posted online that they went to this meeting and the chapel was filled and overflowed into the cultural hall (this meeting was posted on Julie Rowe's site too). (Maybe there's info on there too about more recent meetings.)Why was she ever allowed to hold these firesides or conferences (as this one was called) in chapels? Were they church sponsored? She really seems very extreme in her teachings! Edited August 16, 2015 by JulieM
JulieM Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Here's some info on events:http://julieroweprepare.com/events/
Calm Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Firesides are set up by local bishops or stake presidents usually. They don't get approval for them. My experience is they ask for suggestions and may not do too much research, if any; they may just trust the member's opinion suggesting it. Firesides are just a fun church gathering to further our education...it can be on a y topic as long as they dont promote sales.I suspect once someone realized this was essentially a book promotion fireside, she was told she could no longer hold them in church buildings as happened to Meldrum. Alan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Julie Rowe is a fraud. The minute I started to read her book I knew it.Some people have uncovered evidence she is not being truthful in her claims. However, there are always some gullible Saints out there, and after 2 books she's laughing all the way to the bank!
Calm Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 "Some people have uncovered evidence she is not being truthful in her claims"And where can we find this?
ALarson Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 This from her website is interesting:Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in hosting Julie at additional events. She is not able to respond to you personally, but she is grateful for your interest and support. At this time she is not to accept any additional invitations. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Wonder what "she is not to accept any additional invitations" is referring to? Do you think she's been asked to stop holding these firesides by her local leaders?
ALarson Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 She is still booking what she calls "Group Energy Call" (group phone sessions):http://julieroweprepare.com/updates/ Here is a description of these:These sessions can help clear some of the interference and other imbalances which are no longer serving you. We will be able to assist in helping you clear some of the opposition and other issues that are contributing to your inability to move forward or progress. Please join us in this session to create balance, increase faith, and clear –Fears of preparation for future eventsGenerational habits and false/limiting beliefsConnecting to your intuitionBecoming a clear and confident conduit of lightSince the group session is over the phone you will have the ease of knowing that if you have something to bring up, no one knows who you are. There is also an effect called “Borrowed Benefits” – if someone in the group is clearing something that is similar to your situation, the intelligence of your energy picks up on that cue so it can also clear whatever that issue is for you!http://www.healedholistically.com/special-events.html
bluebell Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 She is still booking what she calls "Group Energy Call" (group phone sessions):http://julieroweprepare.com/updates/Here is a description of these:I noticed that she charges $25 a person for these calls. It would be interesting to know how many people are in one session. We have friends (otherwise very typical members) who are enamoured with her. She is predicting an earthquake that will destroy the wasatch front and bring devastating floods from underground sources. And meteors are also supposed to be hitting the earth, as well as a huge banking collapse. All of this is set to happen in September/October of this year so it should be an exciting autumn 1
ALarson Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Here's what Julie stated (if accurate as this is from notes of a person in attendance) in a question & answer part of one of her recent presentations (February 2015): Question: Do you have the sanctioning of the Brethren?Answer: They know what I am saying and they have not told her to be quiet. Her books are being sold by church owned stores. http://julierowenotes.blogspot.com/ Edited August 16, 2015 by ALarson

Alan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 "Some people have uncovered evidence she is not being truthful in her claims"And where can we find this? There is a fair bit of stuff about her over on the LDS Freedom Forum. Some people there have posted a number of articles exposing her deceit. Apparently it all stems from some forum called AVOW. When she published her books apparently she hadn't realised that people will check her NDE story against her historic forum posts. The stories don't match up.

He married a very young bride. He's since soured on marrying again and thinks the world has maybe 4/5 years left. Gearing up for the end when he should be gearing for what the furure could hold.

Do you think she's been asked to stop holding these firesides by her local leaders? She might have left out "available" (I am thinking this likely because awhile back that was in the wording of her rejection of any energy healing appts iirc)....I don't think this is likely really what it was meant to say because it makes me think the same thing...either that or she is claiming she was directed by the Lord not, which given her constant references to that kind of stuff wouldn't surprise me. Calm Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) Here's what Julie stated (if accurate as this is from notes of a person in attendance) in a question & answer part of one of her recent presentations (February 2015): http://julierowenotes.blogspot.com/Church bookstores do not get a list of approved or vetted by church leadership books they can sell, at least not in my experience and from what I've heard reported of errors being made. Meldrum's stuff is sold there and he's been forbidden to speak at any church fireside or in a church building on his subject. Contrary to what a lot of people think imo, the Brethren have set up church policy to give people a wide range of using their own agency and access to the Spirit to decide for themselves. Only when criminal actions are involved would local leaders need to move on issues involving people selling their homes, etc. if I understand correctly. Local leaders may not be aware of the spiritual issues that involvement in a particular movement might cause, especially in this case where Rowe is not claiming any future leadership position in the Church, pushing people to sustain the Brethren and claiming that revelation will come from church leadership before anything actually happens. One has to pay closer attention to see the problems with her ideas (pushing her version of energy healing as a revelation from God, telling people it is okay to forget about their debts through implications, ie. she doesn't have to be concerned about her own student loans, claiming political positions as revelation, etc.) Edited August 16, 2015 by calmoriah

Duncan Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) No idea who this woman is or what she is teaching, but what does Pennsylvania have to do with anything? if she is telling everyone that some big catastrophe is going to happen why isn't she moving away to for example Pennsylvania Edited August 16, 2015 by Duncan
Avatar4321 Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 She should be telling us to stand in holy places.
JulieM Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 I think that when members see this sister teaching firesides in chapels and selling her books in church bookstores, they assume that her message has been approved by at least their local church leaders. I understand this may be erroneous, but that's how members think (or at least many of them do).
