Hearing/life After Death

So, I have heard so many things about this.  But I am at the point in life where my hearing may last maybe one more year at most.  Hearing aids and such don't work for me and as far as a huge surgery, I couldn't afford it even if it was an option.

 

My question is:  When I die, will I immediately be able to hear (Oooo..I miss my music)!  Or will that come after the final resurection or based on my level of faith?

Truth is we don't know and anyone who says otherwise is full of crap. We actually know very little about the afterlife, most of what we "know" is pure speculation.

I don't know for sure that this has been revealed, but I think it very unlikely that a perfected body would continue to have parts that malfunction.  That's common sense more than revealed doctrine.

Wow. I empathize with you, and feel a closer connection to you. My wife went mostly deaf at age 2 after taking some medicine for measles, which caused nerve damage. She was able to get speech therapy from that point on though and it helped that she was old enough to have already started to speak. Now she mostly reads lips with her hearing down to about 10 percent of normal hearing in a limited frequency range.

Anyway, she will get her full range of hearing back when her spirit is no longer impaired by her body. Our spirits aren't physically handicapped outside of our bodies and when she is resurrected her body won't have any handicaps any more.

Many people explain hearing wonderful music in the spirit world and that it can consist of vibrations and telepathy is how we can communicate with anyone.

We have indication that spirits possess the sense of hearing in some manner:

 

D&C 138: 37: That they might carry the message of redemption unto all the dead… that they through the ministration of his servants might also hear his words.

 

D&C 76: 16, 17 Speaking of the resurrection of the dead, concerning those who shall hear the voice of the Son of Man: And shall come forth…in the resurrection…

I am so glad you posted.  I feel a connection too.  I am now 58 years old and at the age of 3, and during my early years, i could hear alot more it was just certain high sounds.  I belonged to a family band and played the piano, guitar and sometimes a bass fiddle while singing duets with my bro and sis.  We recorded on a radio station for Saturday mornings.  By the time I was married and my kids were in their teens, I was having a hard time.  But I miss those days and I am just going to count on hearing the angels sing!

Well, Mormons actually admit that they have no idea about if a person in the afterlife will have ears that can hear but they speculate about owning their own planet? Whatever seems more important........

 

Did Jesus heal those who could not hear, speak or talk? According to the Bible he did. Nothing found in the book of Mormon.  Anyway, not being able to hear is a defect that often results from aging (which is a sign of a sinful world). It would seem according to the Bible that Jesus wants to heal. So why would one even imagine a heaven with a new body that maintains defects?

I think you will be able to hear...differently. Unless you are resurrected immediately then you won't have a body yet. At that point you would hear spiritually.

If spirits hear (I assume they have the ability or some equivalent) you will get it immediately on death. When you are resurrected your ears will be perfect and have their hearing restored. They will be as perfect as Prince Humperdinks:

If deaf people on earth can hear the still small voice and other whisperings of the Spirit, then this logically suggest to me that we all will be capable of hearing in the spiritual realm of afterlife.
