Can A Psychic Healer/exorcist Be Accepted By Mormons?

I always have found this to be a legit question.

Of course a lot will come up in my mind that the spritual healing power comes like a placebo, just the hope and good feeling to make things better. However, there are some things that just cannot be redone. People still die too regardless of the amount of prayer.

The "placebo effect" is just science sweeping spiritual healing under the rug because they cannot explain it

No, it is actually incredibly important and its main use is for determining the efficacy of new treatments and drugs. Using it in regards to spiritual healing is a byproduct.

Cool!

So sugar pills and psychic healing are the same - that must be a downer to the healer. Your years of study to be a healer produce the same outcome as a sugar pill! That's a bad news day.

I think snakes got bored with us, hasn't shown up for several weeks so unlikely to answer questions.

The point was that yes of course the placebo effect is useful in statistical calculations, BUT IT IS A REAL EFFECT.

Dismssing it dismisses real evidence for spiritual/psychosomatic healing evidence with a sweep of the hand.

It is the flip-side of a logical fallacy called a "virtus dormitiva" in which, for example, how a sleeping pill works is explained by its "power to induce sleep".  Just as that is no explanation, dismissing psychic healing as "the placebo effect" explains nothing with an explanation some may consider "educated" or "scientific" as it appears has been done on this thread.

I fully agree.

I didn't get to read every post in this thread, but the ones I did read got me to thinking.  I think that the difference between the Priesthood and many New Age teachings is that the New Age is showing humans how to use more of their brains to gain more power, whereas the Priesthood is having you rely on God for power that is delegated to you.

I am a mason and rosicrucian, in addition to being a Mormon, and one thing I noticed in the early Rosicrucian degrees is that they make it clear there is nothing supernatural going on when it comes to perceiving auras, using thought projection to heal yourself, etc.  They make it clear that the powers you are using are "untapped" portions of your brain that you had along that have just been laying dormant all these years.  Whereas the Priesthood is actually relying on God's power for help.  I think there's a huge difference in teaching humans to use more of their brain, versus bestowing the power of God on them.

We can, but that has nothing to do with spritual healing or preisthood blessing.

If you’re really interested in the Book of Mormon and its connection to Masonry and the Rosicrucians perhaps you might look at this college research paper in which explores the Book of Mormon as a ciphered text.  It’s full of colored graphs and to pictures better help the reader discern the ciphers and their meanings.
