  1. Can you stop deriding religious people non-stop? Crime, lack of friends and community, single parent household, people born out of wedlock, abuse, etc etc. Drug addiction, alcoholism. We have police and crime because we live in a world where people choose to do the wrong thing. Yes, we have things like climate change and other things. Obviously ex LDS would think so, otherwise they wouldn’t have left. Doesn’t mean they are right.
  2. 1930? Thats older than I thought, but still somewhat recent. Its not that they don’t matter, everyone matters, everyone is a child of God. I am just concerned over changing gender. Its not like we have the Roman Empire to pull information from, or the spanish empire, or the Qing dynasty. This is very recent. How can we build sustainable societies? How can we build societies that will last centuries? How can we follow and heed Gods words in the scriptures? These are some of my guiding questions. Not saying I know everything, I shouldn’t be taken as an authority figure, I just try my best to read and pray, and support what I think is right. People aren’t reproducing, and forming married families, instead we have divorce, single parent households, and gender disphoria at large. The bible warns about these things https://www.openbible.info/topics/transvestites
  3. I see, thank you for your thoughtful response. I can understand your view on this regarding knowledge limitations. And you seem to have reasonable caveats. I do think some surgeries are warranted. I guess, I don’t think its good to change genders so lightly. I could understand it in 20 years, but research is so light right now. I guess I have a bit of a Bible Job perspective on this. I don’t really think its good regardless of if research says otherwise, to some degree. Thinking of only this life doesn’t make sense to me when we have teachings of the afterlife. Some things are meant to be endured, no? The bible warns about some of these things: Deuteronomy 22:5 ESV “A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.” Romans 1:26-27 ESV / 9 helpful votes For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. https://www.openbible.info/topics/transvestites
  4. what is the societal effects of that surgery? I certainly feel for people in situations like those. I care about LGBT people too btw, I dont want to burn them on a stake. I love my sibling, dads friends daughter, and other folks I have interacted with that are LGBT... I live in inner city big city Sweden people and is a teacher (not saying it makes me right, but I am not totally insulated)
  5. You are making a strawman out of me, thats a rare physical disease and unrelated to the discussion. Yes surgeries for specific things can be warranted. Next you are going to say I oppose blood transmissions. Is giving puberty blockers responsible? Encourage early teens to have sex changes? We have been told to respect our bodies. We discourage tattoos for similar reasons. It can be a grace, there are defintely people born with multiple genders, but the current amount is part of a general social movement. We dont, but changing gender is a permanent effect on the body, so is puberty blockers. We are making the biggest social experiment in human history on our children and society based on little to no information and general feelings. Its irresponsible. What we do know, is the importance of the family unit, meanwhile we have 20% of the population removing themselves from the gene pool, and the lowest marriage rate in history. The only thing I stated as eternal is regarding gender which is what church leaders have stated. If I was unclear I apologize. Anyway we have the family proclamation and other teachings to teach us that gender is eternal. We have the law of chastity. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/transgender-understanding-yourself/what-is-the-churchs-position-on-transitioning?lang=eng Encouraging people to not live according to church standards is irresponsible. The family proclamation reads: "we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets. We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society." https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world/the-family-a-proclamation-to-the-world?lang=eng Yes such as down syndrome. There is no way there are that there exists as many trans people biologically as people that transition. Where are all the historical examples? This whole phenomen is popping out of nowhere, historically speaking. This is mostly a social phenomen, not a biological.
  6. indeed its sad. The scriptures warns us that in the latter days even the very elect will be led away. Corona has shown people on the left and right do this. that said, we do need to watch and pray and look for the signs of the time as we follow the prophet.
  7. i decided to put the cross on my backpack and just wear my CTR ring
  8. We know gender aka sex to be eternal already from church teachings so any issues with these feelings are just part of a mortal experience and not their spirit. We should not tarnish our own bodily temples Abandoning gods plan will not lead to anything good. The family proclamation warns us of this. Teachings on the family unit is clear. https://www.fairlatterdaysaints.org/answers/Mormonism_and_prophets/Mormonism_and_The_Family:_A_Proclamation_to_the_World#Question:_Since_there_are_people_that_are_born_intersex.2C_experience_gender_dysphoria.2C_or_identify_as_transgender.2C_does_this_invalidate_the_Latter-day_Saint_.28.22Mormon.22.29_doctrine_of_eternal_male_and.2For_female_gender.3F
  9. indeed, I feel you, but I think we can all be part of communities that do a lot of good. Make more friends, be a light on the hill haha, schools are to soft on bullies. Fight back. indeed, there is no magic quick fix that people look for. Transitioning won’t fix your depression. I think confusing children about their gender is very dangerous and it concerns me how early in ages people transition often with parents that actively encourage them to do so. Puberty blockers is such a terrible thing. Non binary, bisexual, etc, people are adapting so many labels. Before the recent enthusiasm for early social transition and the Dutch-protocol treatments, most patients diagnosed with gender dysphoria in early childhood grew out of it, many of them emerging as healthy, unmedicalised young people who identified as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. Canadian clinical psychologist Ken Zucker, a world authority on youth gender dysphoria and editor of the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, argues that early social transition is itself a psychosocial intervention that is likely to make dysphoria persist, rather than “desist” as it used to. When adults in charge promptly “affirm” a young child’s trans declaration and enable social transition, it’s not surprising if a girl with a less than fully mature brain concludes that, yes, she will become a boy exactly like the other boys. Ahead of this girl is the potential shock of menarche, and she may be more likely to seek puberty-blocker drugs. So many regret transitioning, and then get shunned by the LGBT community. and there are also a lot of lies in trans studies because many researchers want to support trans people. The whole field is underdeveloped at the moment. https://quillette.com/2022/03/29/gender-idoelogues-alarming-campaign-to-get-kids-while-theyre-young/ https://www.news-medical.net/amp/news/20191007/Hundreds-of-trans-people-regret-changing-their-gender-says-trans-activist.aspx
  10. We live in an increasingly isolated society where people spend more time online than with their friends or family. People are not religious, dont go to church and, and local communities in general is waning. Its through the gospel and faith in christ people will find happiness. Through meaningful connections with those around them and service. Family relations, meaningful work, and physical exercise. All things people are increasingly not doing. Leaving the church is not the solution, its the opposite. Increasing ones faith, exercise, friends, and seeking therapy if necessary is. Dont let go of the iron rod.
  11. Almost completely, we alongside Germany has the most restrictive policies in Europe regarding this. The law changed in June 2010, if Im looking at the right law change. Homeschooling has no tradition in Sweden, and is almost non-existent. Social conformity is strong. The new school law explicitly states that it is not allowed except in extraordinary circumstances. Since education in the Swedish schools must always be comprehensive and objective, and be organized in a way that everybody can participate regardless of his or her religious belief or philosophical persuasion, the legislator has drawn the conclusion that there is no need for any regulation that entitles parents to provide homeschooling for their children. But the Education Act recognizes that exceptional circumstances might occur which would be a reason to allow a child to fulfill the duty to participate in compulsory education in another way than by attendance at school. The conditions for such an arrangement are very restrictive; it can only be permitted for one year at a time, and there must be an extraordinary reason. Parents must apply to the municipal board of education, with an opportunity to appeal to the Administrative court if approval is denied. Families who had been home educating successfully for many years prior to 2011 were suddenly denied permission and threatened with the social authorities and fines of up to 20,000 euros per child and year. This has led to Swedish home educators fleeing Sweden to other nearby countries where home education is permitted. I know several female friends who are part of organisation pushing for more leniency on homeschooling and feel marginalized by society for choicing a more traditional path.
  12. In the end, the gospel is the solution to all the worlds problems. Abandoning the church and following your own path will not help in the long run. That said, I do sympathise and wish happiness on all. https://youtu.be/KS3iK9mr40M Sustainable Societies | D. Todd Christofferson | October 2020
  13. I don’t think this train is stopping regardless of how damaging it will be for those individuals. Marriage rates are down the drain, procreation within the bounds of marriage are down, and there are so many single parents raising children without the help of a spouse. Society right is working on a individualist paradigm and not a family paradigm. Here in Sweden at many pre schools the workers are required to call parents guardians. LGBT certified pre schools etc. And here it is illegal to home school.
  14. Not so simple. https://www.fairlatterdaysaints.org/answers/Polygamy_book/John_C._Bennett/Nancy_Rigdon#Nancy_Rigdon This is not true. Anyway, for people reading this wanting more info on the matter there is endless information on FairLatterdaysaint; https://www.fairlatterdaysaints.org/answers/Polygamy_book Anyway, this is kinda spiraling away from topic.
