Avatar4321 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I assume every GA will be exalted. Why would you assume that? There are countless GAs who have sadly fallen away. Judas Iscariot for one comes to mind.
VideoGameJunkie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 Why would you assume that? There are countless GAs who have sadly fallen away. Judas Iscariot for one comes to mind.Hmm I meant the current GAs. Like the current 12 and first presidency.
thesometimesaint Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) How do you know, TSS? (Sincere question.) I'm thinking it's entirely possible that there may be some publicans and harlots who get to heaven before me, despite my efforts and faithful church membership. I don't know why the same can't hold true for excommunicated GAs. I'm sure there are at least a few that will make it into the Celestial Kingdom before I do. But I don't get to judge, not even myself. I firmly believe that God will take EVERYTHING into account, and forgive me of all my sins. That being said I do believe that some sins are harder to repent of than others. The reasons for excommunication being some of the harder ones. Not impossible, just harder. VideoGameJunkie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 I still can't comprehend people who would not want to be exalted. I think it's the most wonderful gift possible.
Calm Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I still can't comprehend people who would not want to be exalted. I think it's the most wonderful gift possible. They may be concerned that there are strings attached. I know of one young man who didn't like the idea of having to put his own will second to God's as he saw it as a loss of personal identity, not seeing that as we changed over time to more loving, godly, more knowledgable individuals what we want will become closer to God's way of thinking naturally. I also know of those who have had bad experiences with marriage and so would prefer not to be married eternally at this point in their lives and if this is a requirement of exaltation they would currently pass on the opportunity. And last, there are some who see that exaltation comes with responsibilities, especially towards those one looks on as their children (whether literally or adopted)...could they stand by and let them act as free agents even if they are suffering greatly? There are a number of women who have stated there is no way they could just let their children suffer in the way they see humanity suffering without stepping in and saving them, even from themselves if they have the ability to do so.

That would be the ultimate eternal reward.
VideoGameJunkie Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 But I can see how others may feel sad about the idea of having like 1/3 of your spirit children turn away and never able to return to you again. So does that mean there is sadness in heaven?
california boy Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I am not going to be exalted. I don't even know what being exalted means if you are gay.
jkwilliams Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I am not going to be exalted. I don't even know what being exalted means if you are gay. Right there with you. Maybe we can hang out together in the telestial kingdom.
pogi Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I don't even know what being exalted means if you are gay. Maybe you won't even know what being gay means if you are exalted. Just a thought. I don't think any of us comprehend the mercy of God and what our natures will be like in our resurrected states. 2

I assume with being exalted you will have infinite wisdom about all things, including why some people are gay and if it matters or not.
altersteve Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I still can't comprehend people who would not want to be exalted. I think it's the most wonderful gift possible.I don't believe in exaltation the way most Mormons do (ruling over your own worlds, having your own spirit children, etc. -- that's what I definitely do NOT want).

Are you willing to suggest that you won't even know what being attracted to the opposite sex means in heaven?
VideoGameJunkie Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 God weeps when we sin or are sad, so yes. That's true. I hope I don't weep too often in heaven.
pogi Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Are you willing to suggest that you won't even know what being attracted to the opposite sex means in heaven? I really don't know what attraction in general will mean in our exalted states, but I don't believe that it will be the same as it is in our mortal and fallen state.

Then you've missed the point of existence. All creatures are to fill the measure of their creation, and guess why were were created in the first place. The Gods want to create more Gods, and more worlds and more Gods and more worlds, without end. They are perpetuating their very race. That's why God's work and glory is our immortality and eternal life. In my opinion we can either progress to be like God is, or there is very little point in us.

VideoGameJunkie Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 For me anything short of exaltation will be considered failure. I like to set my goals high. 1
thesometimesaint Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 For me anything short of exaltation will be considered failure. I like to set my goals high.I tend to agree, but I do believe that everyone will be so happy with just being there, that even those in the Terrestrial, and Telestrial Kingdoms will be happy also.

I think the people that are going to be exalted or be Gods, are the ones that go up the ranks so to speak. Just like our prophets and apostles for the most part, not all. It's definitely a choice. So VideoGameJunkie can make it but very well might need to put down the game station controls. And pick up the scriptures, and get involved heavily in his ward and sacrifice along with so many other things..... Not that he doesn't already do that. But believe if one is to be exalted, if the church is true , these things need to be done, how else can a God handle all the pressure and have the fortitude to one day create his own world? Unless he devoted his life and will, to church and God, if the church is true . Or is it only the people that have been chosen by Him/Her (Gods) to become a God? It really is a mystery. ETA: But VideoGameJunkie, this of course is my opinion. I forgot, you have an eternity to be a God right? Edited November 12, 2013 by Tacenda

And eternity is a long time if you wind up in a lower kingdom thinking about how you missed your chance.
thesometimesaint Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Yup, I have eternity. It's a long time to learn. And eternity is a long time if you wind up in a lower kingdom thinking about how you missed your chance. I don't believe it is just a chance. I believe we will have full knowledge of what God has to offer, and we decide where we will be happy. God won't force us into Heaven or any Kingdom therein. We choose.
