Songs That Have Inspired You Or Have Drawn You Into Deeper Worship...

Love that one.

This first song was very meaningful to me when my Mother passed away. I learned a very important lesson that God was with me as He promised to "never leave or forsake me" and that no matter what we are walking through whether good times or bad, He alone deserves our praise, our worship, trust and obedience. "every blessing you pour out I'll turn back in praise, when the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say, blessed be your name"

When I was first reactivating after many years of being an inactive member, it was the music that would cause me to sit and weep. It seemed to speak to my core... I used to chuckle that my ward bros/sis would wonder why I was sitting there crying... but the Spirit would fill me and the joy at being "home" would seem to overwhelm me when I would hear the hymns...

One of the hymns that most affected me: "Dear to the Heart of the Shepherd."

Dear to the heart of the Shepherd...

Dear are the sheep of his fold... Out in the desert they wander, hungry and helpless and cold... Off to the rescue he hastens, bringing them back to the fold.

This one was especially touching because I had wandered for so many years, and even though I was "happy" it wasn't until I returned to Church (or the Savior brought me back to the fold) that I enjoyed the deepest feelings of peace and comfort.

Other hymns: How Great Thou Art... More Holiness Give Me... Where Can I Turn for Peace?... Be Thou Humble... Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me... I Stand All Amazed.

And there are others... just the regular hymns that we sing each Sunday, but when one wanders in the world as I did and then returns and feels the Spirit once again, it is like fresh cool water for parched lips and soul...

from the beach on a sunny, crisp winter's morn... thinking of the hymns and feeling a joy in my heart...

What songs have helped you to experience worship more fully? Any favorites to share? Please post so that we may all enjoy! Here is a song that I have appreciated lately.... I posted two but I am having technical difficulties (lol) Second is on the way (I hope!)

I used to love to listen to "More Holiness Give Me" as sung by Jenny Phillips. The version that really caught me up was the one that was on Youtube and in one place "Autotune" technology was used. The first months of my conversion studies were extremely hard and I was burdened with doubts. That song helped to carry me through.

It disappeared from Youtube unexpectedly and I do not know the reason. I understand her taking a break from singing to devote time to her family and wish her the best.
