I'm an Agnostic on my best day and an Atheist on my worst, but when I hear Johnny Cash's recording of the Kris Kristofferson song "Why Me, Lord?". I'm a believer for the duration of the song.

Some of the seasons that we walk through can be difficult and some times we feel like we are alone in the desert. In these seasons of life, I have appreciated this song to offer up as a prayer. May this be an encouragement to any of you in that season now. For those who cry out that are weak, who are weary, who are tired, who are thirsty, who have failed, who are broken, may you find restoration and healing. Blessings to you.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is not in the LDS hymnal.

I really like good arrangements of it. I did it as a piano/vocal solo in Sacrament Mtg. a few weeks ago.

I may return and post links to some of my favorites from the hymnal. There are several I like very, very much.

This is my favorite one. I played this at a job where I was working as an electrician, about half the guys got all teary eyed - I did too!

Nathair and Mehrdad got to Kolob before me, but that is truly one of the most inspiring hymns of all time.

Another one that I deeply, deeply love is "Invocation, or The Eternal Father and Mother" (O My Father)

It's got everything - "truth is reason", premortal existence, the Plan of Salvation across worlds without number, the Heavenly Father and Mother, the Restoration. Love it.

I could never live in a flat area, or even somewhere without mountains. I love the high country, I learned this as a boy, and all the years I passed in CA, spent as much time as I could in the Sierras with my kids, or just in the local mountains. Now that I have moved to UT, I love stepping out on my porch to see Timpanogos, just like Mount Olympus in my youth and San Gorgonio on the horizon during my time in SoCal.Spring through fall on the trails, winter strapped into snowshoes, there is never a bad time to be afoot in Gods high places. So I am grateful and enjoy the hymns about mountains. IMHO, they are temples just as suredly as the ones we build. Other than in church, on the trail-when I am sure that I am very alone-is about the only time I break into song.

Not to mention "Firm as the Mountains Around Us."-I just couldn't find the video.
