Shots fired on my campus today. Charlie Kirk TPUSA leader dead

A day in, I feel like King Theodin had a point:

“So much death, what can men do against such reckless hate?”

It doesn’t matter what side of the isle the hate is coming from or who it’s directed at.  It’s all destruction.

Country Music Legend Donny Osmond Steps In to Support Charlie Kirk’s Children

In a surprising and heartfelt move, country music icon Donny Osmond has pledged to cover all living and educational expenses for the two children of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who passed away unexpectedly earlier this week.

Sources close to the Osmond family revealed that the decision was made privately within hours of Kirk’s passing. “Donny has always been a man of deep faith and compassion,” a family spokesperson said. “When he heard about the tragedy, his first thought was of the children and how he could ensure they have every opportunity to thrive.”

Kirk, a prominent political activist and founder of Turning Point USA, leaves behind a wife and two young children. Friends and supporters have expressed gratitude for Osmond’s gesture, calling it a reflection of the community spirit Kirk often championed.

This really touches me, I am so glad he is doing this.  I was also glad to hear the couple had worked to give their children privacy.

The selfish part of me hopes Donny started working with the Kirk family prior to it being known the killer is/was LDS.

I'm curious. Does anyone here know what it's like to have family align themselves with ideology that hurts you personally? I've been sobbing the last few hours because my family can't name one good thing conservatives have to say about the LGBTQ community. My family wants sympathy and empathy for people who would not lose an ounce of sleep if I or someone like me were to be killed or some other way harmed.

Tell me. Where is god? I am so destroyed right now. I'm so sorry if I'm dramatic. I just don't know what to do. I feel so stupid.

That has to be really rough for you. I'm sorry you are dealing with it.  It all shows just how much things may affect others that we may not have any idea about.  I hope you find peace.

It's just depressing. Between cable news and social media I'm not sure we all survive this as a country.

Maybe it had to get worse to get better hopefully.

Kirk was a multi-millionaire, and a GoFundMe has been established.   The family is not lacking for money. If this report is true, why this family, and not a family who is struggling financially? Were they friends?

I don't think you realize how big of a deal this is for some people. Perhaps you should spend some time on YouTube checking out conservative reaction videos. This is MLK big for some people. Just because his assassination wasn't a big deal in your circles or you think because you didn't agree with him that it is like any other death, doesn't make it so. I guarantee this will have a far more vast ripple than you currently realize.

I watched this video just now, that I think both sides would enjoy. And it dawned on me, Charlie would go to college kids with this "prove me wrong" thing. Is that because he thought they were more malleable? Or changeable? I'd like to see him debate the older crowd, but maybe he has, but believe the outcome might be significantly different.

Just a thought, here's the YouTube that quite impressed me, especially the young woman.

I do have siblings like this, and it boggles my mind. And feel this ideology has wedged between us to where we aren't that close. I feel your pain. It's happening in so many families and you're not alone.

And I often don't understand my siblings and their spouses not feeling those feelings you mention also.

I hope you hold on long enough to see them (your family) come to some realizations, that you have already had.

You've got this mission!! :) Not to make light of what you're going through. I'm your cheerleader though.

Yeah, that is something to think about. I think Donny is very much a conservative and like a lot of my former neighbors, ward members and my own family and friends they got on the bandwagon. And a few even mention on FB that they will not be silent any longer, in particular my niece on my husband's side. So I don't know what's to come besides divisiveness or a them vs us mentality, sadly. But you're right the Kirk's probably are doing well.

I was thinking much the same thing. Kirk's supporters would all be wanting to do the same thing for the kids.

Saw this after I posted.  It was very upsetting to me.

I'm may not be reading enough of the replies or posts, what's upsetting about that? EDIT: Sorry Calm, I now get it. It's because Patel or the FBI kept getting it wrong and saying they caught the suspect and they didn't. EDIT: Here's a good reason why Patel, shouldn't be running the FBI, no way, no how.

Why do you feel this murder got us closer there than any other murder/attempted murder that happened before?  What made this step more giant?

IMO, since the murder of Charlie, it made him into a martyr. Somewhat like Joseph Smith. Because Charlie started Turning Point, which sort of has tones of a religion or a belief system.

I can’t help you with god since I don’t think she’s there. But I hate this for you. It’s vile. It’s one of the biggest reasons my wife and I left it behind. I hope you find peace and solace.

I worry about this as well. This quote comes to mind.

“Policemen and laws can never replace customs, traditions and moral values as a means for regulating human behavior. At best, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. Our increased reliance on laws to regulate behavior is a measure of how uncivilized we’ve become.”

Even laws have little power to save us now.

You really don't get it do you?

Many of these college aged young adults, the malleable "kids" you speak of had been molded by liberals filling the ranks of our collegiate educational system, after leaving their home environments and then kept on campuses that told them to keep any contrary opinions to themselves.

Charlie went to simply debate them and show them that maybe what their professors were telling them wasn't the truth and that it is OK to express a contrary opinion and do so with facts. And he allowed professors come to the mic and debate him also, so they could try to prove to their students that Charlie was wrong. The outcome wasn't different, because they were the ones giving those "kids" the ideas Charlie was countering.

So it was OK that liberal professors have a captive audience to shape malleable minds, but when a Conservative invites people, of their freewill, to debate him, and tries to show them that maybe what they're being taught isn't correct, that is somehow an issue?

I don't get you.

Every line you wrote is garbage. I take it you have never been to University. There is no ideology you learn, liberal or otherwise. Kirk never went to University so his opinion about university and what they learn there is worthless

The liberal bias at our Universities and Colleges has been thoroughly documented- so miss me with all that.
