Family History work in the Temple with Inappropriate Name / Title

Apologies in advance, fam

I've reserved some Temple ordinance cards for a Chinese Emperor who had many "wives."

12 of these 13 women have "consort" as their last name.

Not sure that's appropriate to be used in the Temple.

I can update the names to the Chinese word (hòu) for the same thing - but that doesn't seem to make it appropriate to use in the Temple.

  • Huanghou (Empress)
  • Fei (Consort)
  • Pin (Concubine)
  • Jieyu (Mistress)

I suppose I could update thier FamilySearch last name to EMpress but that seems contrary to history - even though after we die God will make all of us Emperors and Empress'.

Please advise and thanks in advance.

I would ask the temple president.

Don’t do anything and wait for the Millennium. It’ll get figured out then.

Call Family Search

Look around the screen and it will have something like "If you need help, call ******".

Also the rules are that you should only be working on your family.   Are these members of your family?

There are probably a billion people who lived before Christ etc- who will need- according to our doctrine- to receive their temple blessings- but that is what the "Millennium" is for.

Don't worry- they are in a timeless place- it's not like their plane is about to leave forever, and they are worried about "missing" it!

I have no idea why you would think that those words do not belong in the temple- I think God knows a little about sin already, and he knows how humanity is and was.

They accepted "Bon Vivant" on a few of my ancestors!

Why doesn’t “consort” substitute for Mrs?  Since it’s a title of their relationship.  And Consort was a title of great respect.  What is inappropriate about it?

And are you somehow related to these women or just doing them because it’s cool?

People seem to automatically think that the title of Consort is a bad thing.  The dictionary defines it as a wife, husband, or companion, in particular the spouse of a reigning monarch.  Seems to me, a very respectful title.

Prince Albert was first given the title His Royal Highness until he was upgraded to Prince Consort.

Consorts were the rank below the primary wife or Empress.
