The scriptures are very clear that God is not okay with homosexual sex. The scriptures are also clear that God defines marriage as being between a man and a woman. So where exactly is this revelation recorded? I agree that God approves of mixed marriages. But where in the scriptures does God say he does not approve of same sex marriages? You are just making assumptions that is the only marriage God accepts.

This is from the NIV: Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin. (Leviticus 18:22) If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. (Leviticus 20:13) 24So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. (Romans 1) 9Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6) 8We know that the law is good when used correctly. 9For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders. 10The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders,c liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching 11that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God. (1 Timothy 1)

(1 Timothy 1) IMO, these are just men that are translating scripture, since the word homosexuality wasn't in the bible, as I told you, since 1940 something. They are putting it into plainer language and it's their take on the scripture, it's not God breathed, just as the many other scriptures aren't, they're man made. You're putting too much faith in men's words, IMO. I could never believe the bible is God breathed, or I'd quit believing in Him. Meaning the horrible things men say God did to women and children, killing them? Or that scripture harmed so many throughout lifetimes. Edited March 16, 2023 by Tacenda

So that leaves open a belief in Jesus and His teachings.

pogi Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 16 hours ago, Grug the Neanderthal said: This is not accurate. The church doesn’t really use gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc. as labels for people. The church states that it is ok to use those labels for those who identify with those labels. I already posted several examples from that website, including "Does the plan of salvation apply to gay people?" Quote Terminology Sexual orientation may refer to emotional, romantic, or sexual attractions as well as a sense of identity. For some, it is helpful to distinguish between sexual attraction, emotional attraction, and identity, rather than grouping them all together as “sexual orientation.” The most common labels are lesbian (a woman attracted to women), gay (a man attracted to men), and bisexual (a man or woman attracted to both genders). Some women may also use the term gay to describe themselves. People may use other labels, and some who experience same-sex attraction choose not to use a label to describe themselves. How people choose to identify may change over time. Attraction is not identity. People can make their own choices about how to identify. There are active, temple recommend–holding Church members who comply with the law of chastity and identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. There are active Church members who experience same-sex attraction and never choose to identify themselves using a label. Our primary identity will always be as a child of God. Sexual orientation and gender identity Same-sex attraction (SSA) refers to emotional, physical, romantic, or sexual attraction to a person of the same gender. If you experience same-sex attraction, you may or may not choose to use a sexual orientation label to describe yourself. Either way, same-sex attraction is a technical term describing the experience without imposing a label. This website uses this term to be inclusive of people who are not comfortable using a label, not to deny the existence of a gay, lesbian, or bisexual identity. In the "Divine Institution of Marriage, the church uses the label "homosexual": Quote "The Church's oppositin to same-sex marriage neither constitutes nor condones any kind of hostility towards homosexual men and women." The church made a similar statement but used the labels "gays" and "lesbians" in this response to backlash from prop 8: Quote "The Church's opposition to same-sex marriage neither constitutes nor consones any kind of hostility towards gays and lesbians." 16 hours ago, Grug the Neanderthal said: Definitely not in the way you were suggesting in the comment I responded to: Clearly, they do.
