Define "truth"

Define "false"

Define "actually mean"

You can't.

"To me, it is a mass of confusion"

Where did THAT quote come from?

You sound just like the Preacher.

1. Truth is what really is a fact. Like for example if i go to the toilet to pie and later on i say to you " i went to the toilet to pie" then that is the truth. It would be incorrect if you then would say to me "no that is not the real truth that you went to the toilet to pie that is just something YOU BELIEVE."

2. False is something that is not true. A lie.

🤷‍♂️

Thanks for your absolutist interpretation of things you don't understand.

This isn’t difficult Pogi.

Michael/Adam is either our Heavenly Father and the Father of Jesus Christ or he isn’t. The truth or error of this teaching from the temple is not relative. It wasn’t true prior to 1900 and false after that.

Same goes for the covenant women made to obey their husbands as their husbands obey God or orthodox sectarian preachers unwittingly working for Satan to blind mankind to the truth.

Wow you are really stuck on the women obey their husband and the husband obeys God thing aren't you? Why is that so significant I wonder. Asking seriously, because I'm pretty sure it's something that Joseph gleaned from the bible. And in the bible I believe there are many man made scriptures.

Just going by what the endowment taught for over 170 years and what the scriptures teach, which are both considered to be the word of God by Latter-day Saints.

"Just going by" implies you are addressing this facet of temple worship, about as equally as every other one.  That does not seem to be the case.

To better reflect your displayed concern, you may want to begin your responses with "I am hyperfixiating on this because...."

I agree, but you don't seem to understand it.

And so these men on Indostan disputed loud and long,

Each in his own opinion exceeding stiff and strong,

Though each was partly in the right, and all were in the wrong!

Whatever the absolute truth of God/reality may be, our truth is only relative to it and completely un-whole.  Human language doesn't correlate with absolute truth despite your relative beliefs about it.   What is true for us is relative, like it or not.  Absolute knowledge of absolute truth is not in the cards.  Take care.

Everyone see's the truth on a differend way. It is just a little unfortunaly that we can not accept differend ideas from each other. But yeah.. that is just how people are i guess.

Some people wanna take everything as truth what the Book of Mormon says. And some don't believe everything but some parts of the book. And others don't even believe a thing about it. Just nothing. Differend believes. Differend ideas. Why is that always such a problen for some folks? 🤷‍♂️

I wonder if the once called Ensign now called Liahona has a way to ask a question at the back. I discontinued my subscription years ago. And you could ask them? But I do understand that it must be difficult to see drastic changes in the last few years. I just wondered about the focus on the obeying thing. But no need to answer me, it just struck a nerve I guess.

I apologize to everyone, for the snark.

For me, the burden is heavy sometimes.

WELL said. "True for us" is a great choice of words.  I see it in terms of putting reality into language and no one understands, but I think the idea of that language doesn't capture reality is MUCH easier to understand.

We experience it with every sentence we write, we think : " Uh, how do I put that??"

It's the same thing but put differently, it makes it easier to understand. We all have trouble putting reality into words, and then think whatever we say corresponds to reality because of course WE said it, not the dumb other guy.

Nice!

This is not the first time you did this. You have received the endowmend did you not...and you have been a bishop you once told? I suposse that you also have been told not to judge one another or harm anyone in any way...  those are a few commitments. But you don't really seem to be al to serious about those in my opinion i am sorry. Not that i wanna judge you in any way though.

The law of chastity is for me a big drama. I fail in that one. But we are all humans. We make mistakes.

I find that we need to respect the differend ideas from the people here about ordinance changes and other things like covenands. And also how the church have changed and the roll of the wife for her husband and everything. Differend ideas, differend opinions. One may thing that we can have an respectfull conversastion about it. Without attacking each other right? (like you sometimes do)

What would Brigham Young think? Or Joseph Smith? And ultimately God?

The church can disavow any past teaching it wants to, but that doesn’t actually mean that the disavowed teachings are false.

Pres. Kimball literally called it "false doctrine." I'm not sure what more you need.

Brigham Young called it a true doctrine that was taught to him by Joseph Smith and personal revelation from God. Not sure what more you need. 🙂

You definitely didn’t strike a nerve with me. I just don’t feel inclined to go down this rabbit hole right now. We all know where it would lead. 😉

All you've managed to do for me is highlight the paradox of 'continuing revelation' and the very notion of real 'prophets,' as I'm no longer a believer.

That being said, were I still a believer, I would probably mention a teaching about current prophets taking priority over dead ones...or something.

I think I understand your position just fine. You believe that there is no absolute truth made known to man. Everything is relative and subjective. Any teaching, practice, or ordinance can be changed or discarded. One prophet can teach one thing and other the exact opposite and it doesn’t matter. It’s all just the church rolling along chipping off rough edges as the people become more and more enlightened in creating their own truths relative to their current societal norms.

In my opinion if your views were correct there would be no point to the restoration, no point to having scriptures, prophets, or ordinances, since none of it actually teaches the truth of things as they actually are, were, and will be.

You’re right, it certainly is a paradox. As was said earlier, one man’s continuing revelation is another man’s apostasy.
