Random thoughts on General Conference

- More talks by Patrick Kearnon. I love hearing the Queen’s English.

- Incorporate drum rolls into our testimony meetings.

- Love singing alto to How Firm A Foundation

- Does Elder Bednar’s hair ever move?

- Surprised the first speaker in the women’s conference was male.

- Loved the way Sister Abuerto said “Sisters and Brothers.”

- Many talks about enduring hardships.

My random thought was asking why do we use caution with mother in heaven? If we are to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and have no real evidence of Him, why faith in Him and God but not Mother in heaven?

ADD: I digress, maybe Peacefully, you didn't mean for this to be everyone's random thoughts. Also, I liked that Sister Abuerto did that, I missed a lot of conference but will watch in the future. I often do this while sub'g in the schools and address the students by "girls and boys" instead of "boys and girls". :)

I would love to hear everyone’s thoughts, random or otherwise.

I’m not sure I understand.

Making Heavenly Father angry by mistreating His wife could lead to disaster. I think He keeps Her hidden in the to prevent this from happening.

I know how I react when I perceive my wife has been mistreated.

Ok, I understand what you are saying now.

I don’t think you and I will agree, but I don’t think of Heavenly Mother as someone who needs to be protected. I think of her as a strong person standing side by side with Heavenly Father. She can hold her own.

Maybe God's wife would like to come into the limelight and fight her own battles. Or at least be acknowledged, loved, spoken to, respected (not to the point of hiding her from harm), be bold, not shut in, able to inspire, converse, be behind the door that's knocked too.

Men must have some ego issues in the bible, doesn't mean the current men/women reading the harmful lack of scriptures need to continue the lack of wanting to converse with a Mother in heaven.

If it's true our church has a living prophet and a conduit to God, it's about time we let Mother God come through. If she doesn't exist that means our whole doctrine is incorrect on priests/priestesses or gods/godesses in the temple. As my beautiful niece who is a Medium mentioned to me once, we need to ask out loud for those on the other side to be present sometimes.

And our whole LDS existence relies on a Mother in heaven. The LDS rely on Eve making the right decision, not the wrong one, like other Christians believe when eating the fruit of knowledge. Why are we hiding the female (Mother in heaven) in the attic???? Sure she's acknowledged and then she's got tape on her mouth and we are blindfolded.

Well if She needs to be hidden to be protected, I must have a rotten husband.  He "lets" me have a job, travel the country, have my own Facebook page etc.  😍

It's actually my opinion (IMO) that She, or They, or whomever is just not talked about because in the days of the scripture writing, women were not held in esteem so there was no revelation or need or desire to write or read about Her.  It's only been in the last few decades that women are even considered worthy of voting, running the Boston Marathon, having equal pay etc.  We're still working on that, so until the people catch up we aren't likely to seek further light and instruction.  It's there, but that's on us.  IMO

I digressed there, so I'll share my random thoughts.

How can people dislike President Nelson?  (I just typed Watson, hello Freud) - I think he's so gentle and personable, and so remarkable.

I loved the purple florals.  Thank you to all who made an effort to match with the ties. :)

I saw two women with faux hawks in the choir.  Get em girls!

So nice to be back in the Tabernacle.

The general Sunday school president was my favorite - he TALKED to us.  He was fluent in his delivery.  Flawless and delivered like a pro.

I felt the spirit Sunday, and did it all in the comfort of my own home.  What a miracle!

Which talk was his?  I never watch the screen and so rarely remember who anyone is other than some of the women leaders and the apostles.

Agreed. I loved his talk. My wife actually knew him when he was a stake president in Bristol.

I had to look him up myself.  Sunday afternoon, Mark Pace.

My husband brought that up.  So funny that mustaches are allowed but beards aren't.  There is just something so evil about chin hair.

(The cadence delivery of a majority of speakers is bothersome to me.  He didn't have that and I appreciate that so much.)

Same here…

I know but you gals are womemsplaining. My wife can take care of herself too, for the most part. It doesn't mean that I won't get mad if someone threatens her mental or physical well being. Get your husband's point of view or your father's point of view.

But the same goes for me if someone threatens my husband.

Exactly.  This isn't a gendered position.  Wives are generally just as protective of their husbands as husbands are of their wives.

She is a divine being. The idea that we can somehow help Her come out of some imposed obscurity is silly.
