In summary here are the differences between an orgasm and a nocturnal emission (NC)

1. Projection - orgasm = high level, NC = low level

2. Intensity of pleasure and/or pain - orgasm = high level, NC = low level

3. Frequency - The frequency of NCs is inversely proportional to the frequency of sex. If there are guys who are "sexually active" (sex more than 10 times a year) and have NCs they are very rare.

4. Masturbation - NC and masturbation are almost certainly mutually exclusive. Anecdotal evidence: In the "competition" episodes of Seinfeld no mention is made of NCs.

1 and 2 are flat out wrong. 3 is a correlation but not an absolute.

4 is wrong.

Using Seinfeld as evidence is deeply stupid.

Nope Nehor. It is your post that is wrong or at least highly unusual.

During 30 years of marriage and 6 kids, I can confidently report 0 nocturnal emissions (NC) though I was never separated from my wife for more than 2 weeks before my 50s.

Prior to my marriage, I had plenty of experience with NCs, A mention of NCs in a novel by Isaac Bashevis Singer led to a discussion with my Bishop. One instance during my mission in Holland where our landlady did our laundry caused a slight concern making me realize that my most private thoughts might be be gleaned.

I have to say that I am astonished that any male can believe the rubbish spouted or implied by the wiki page or some posters in this discussion

More on the wiki page.

Kinsley reported back in 1948 that a minority of males experienced their first ejeculation via nocturnal emission while a majority experienced it through masturbation. I believe it. Nevertheless a majority might experience several weeks of celibacy via army basic camp or similar thing and so experience a nocturnal emission (NC). Nevertheless several weeks of celibacy minimum are absolutely essential for NCs. Falsehoods to the contrary will not hold water.

Apparently he got offended that Wikipedia rejected his unsourced, out-of-context, and opinionated addition to an otherwise well-written and informative article. I don't why he thought this forum was a good place to moan about it.

My addition to wiki is sourced by 1rst hand experience. Allegedly sourced info are rubbish or misrepresented.

What sources besides yourself would you accept?

What about the other firsthand descriptions posted in this thread?

I have a friend that had a problem with nocturnal emissions, so before he went on his mission he had a picture  of his mom’s face tattooed on the inside of his eyelids so his mom is staring at him while he sleeps. Worked like a charm!!!

Mate, I have zero interest in reading the Wikipedia page on this topic. I don't need to. I'm a man. You're writing things that are simply untrue and repeatedly denied by the males who have participated on this thread.

Do you think they are women who don’t have firsthand experience?  If they are men, what is their purpose in allegedly misrepresenting reality.

Clearly, I am an agent of Satan. I didn’t think Hamba was though. He always seemed like such a nice guy. 🤷‍♂️

The experiences of women are clearly different. With no first hand knowledge I can provide no testimony quality evidence; ie, that would be admissible in a court of law. For example, from 2nd hand sources we hear that women frequently have sex without having orgasms. Some women never have an orgasm till they're 30 and apparently some women have orgasms in their sleep.

Joseph Smith taught that to become a son of perdition, a person must

“have the heavens opened unto him, and know God….
He has got to say that the sun does not shine while he sees it;
he has got to deny Jesus Christ when the heavens have been opened unto him,
and to deny the plan of salvation with his eyes open to the truth of it”
(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.358).

Before I went on my mission, my Bishop assured me Nocturnal Emissions are not a problem.

Cite one untrue statement I have posted.

Satan is the author of all lies.

It is a lie that married men with regular sexual relations with their wives have nocturnal emissions with any frequency. Who can be fooled by a such a lie. Not men. Only women surely. Why is Satan trying to sell this lie to women.

The rubbish, as you call it, comes from first-hand experience and the general medical consensus of doctors who have a much larger sample size to gather data from.

Your evidence is just you and you are trying to prove a negative by the fact that you haven’t experienced it. it would be like arguing that penguins don’t exist because you have never personally seen one.

You may have an issue with some level of self-importance if you are seriously trying to argue that your experience defines the experience of everyone of the same sex. Note that when you experienced something in your story you consulted with a bishop. In other words you sought information as to what this experience was. I am not sure why you are obsessed with this point. Why would you case whether an NE is a mark of celibacy? The last thing the world needs is some male version of a proof of virginity/celibacy or whatever.

So you claim that married men who have sex once or twice a week have nocturnal emissions?

Some do, some don’t. They are more likely to if they are young but that doesn’t make it certain either way.

How is Stan? Did he ever get out of that involuntary psychiatric hold and transition to regular therapy?

Doubt it all you want. The facts trump your doubts:

From the Wikipedia article you were vandalizing: "For males who have experienced nocturnal emissions, the mean frequency ranges from 0.36 times per week (about once every three weeks) for single 15-year-old males to 0.18 times per week (about once every five-and-a-half weeks) for 40-year-old single males. For married males, the mean ranges from 0.23 times per week (about once per month) for 19-year-old married males to 0.15 times per week (about once every two months) for 50-year-old married males."

This is an example of a referenced statement in Wikipedia, with the backing data originating with Alfred Kinsey in the 1948 book, "Sexual Behavior in the Human Male". I suggest you try backing up your claims with references other than your own assertions. That's what CFR means, by the way: a Call for Reference[s], or in other words, "Prove it."

Obviously, even some married males with a presumed normal sex life may have nocturnal emissions. It happens to not be my personal experience, but then I don't go around claiming that my experience is universal, which you seem to be doing.

For one thing the Kinsley research, as presented, contradicts itself. First it claims a frequency of 3 weeks for a celibate 15 year-old that means at least 3 weeks abstaining from sex or masturbation to have a nocturnal emission. Then it talks about married men having nocturnal emissions. Sure, provided the married man abstains from sex for at least weeks. The average young married couple has sex twice a week. So Kinsley's research is misrepresented, poorly presented or just plain crap. The fact that so many want to defend this nonsense is sad.

Seriously.  And why would satan care either.

This discussion is so dumb, and laughably incorrect.

Henceforth, I will not argue with you. It is sufficient to quote your response to that question.

Even so, if it can be demonstrated that nocturnal emissions are not orgasms that should be the end of the discussion. Therefore this will likely be a very short thread.

The point is that they are involuntary, and therefore not sinful.

Question answered, thread over.
