The Nehor Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 This is anecdotal but it is one example of what is believed to be long Covid: 1

It would take a social statistician to explain this one to me, even though I use statistics all the time. I didn't find any analysis of a statistical "significance" between human activity and global warming. The early pages appeared to employ mere "eyeballing" of graphs and charts to make their "unequivocal" case (which is not a statistical term). It looks like they used a lot of statistical analysis to show global warming, but not the fact of causation. But there's a lot there and I'm not equipped to really understand what is being said. champatsch Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Long Covid sufferers may need to work with doctors who are experts in elimination diets, transitioning into elimination diets and how to carry them out effectively and safely. Judy Cho is one doctor I can think of off the top of my head who is an expert in this. Achieving and sustaining excellent metabolic health is very important for anyone to be able to survive potential Covid infections going forward. 1

The Nehor Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Have some fun Covid anecdotes to ease the bleakness. - Guy is asked if he has received the vaccine. He says he has had 20 shots. He is in a jurisdiction that was giving vouchers and gifts if you get the vaccine and wanted more. I hope they quickly cornered him and offered more compensation to study any effects that has. - One woman was saying that she was not vaccinated but her husband was. Then she reports that the “shedding” must have impacted her because ever since he got the second shot she hasn’t had a period and this has gone on for four months. She then worried if it did this to her indirectly how dangerous would it be for a pregnant woman to be around someone who is vaccinated. When asked how old she is she responded: “45, why?” Hmmmmmmm…… Edited August 16, 2021 by The Nehor 1

Then she reports that the “shedding” must have impacted her because ever since he got the second shot she hasn’t had a period and this has gone on for four months. Personal anecdote: I received my first AstraZeneca dose in May. As I've described elsewhere, I had a terrible reaction to it, beginning about 10 hours in and lasting about 24 hours. For the next fortnight, however, my nose bled in a weird way. Weird in that it wasn't liquid blood pouring out of my nose; instead, I had to blow clots of mostly dried blood out of my nose every 20 minutes or so. In the morning, there would be dozens of them that I would have to clear out before I could breathe again. (I could actually just reach in and pull them out!) It's August now, and this is the month when a particular plant blooms. Its pollen is my nemesis! Every August, I have to start using nasal steroids to deal with the hay fever: sneezing; itching, dripping nose; itching, watery eyes; sinus congestion; tickling throat; etc. Sometimes it's so bad that I have to supplement with oral antihistamines as well. This year: nothing. I can see/smell the blooms all around me. Still nothing. I'm blaming it on the vaccine! By the way, I told the nurse this when I got my second dose this past weekend. She seemed genuinely intrigued ... 2
The Nehor Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Wait, I am usually feeling allergies a little by this point. I will assume that the vaccine got my allergies too. WOOHOO! 2

The Nehor Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Some more good news. Using the same mRNA approach used in the Covid vaccine Moderna is starting phase 1 testing of two HIV vaccines. https://www.newsweek.com/modernas-hiv-vaccine-start-human-trials-early-wednesday-uses-mrna-like-covid-shot-1619374 HIV is one of the fastest mutating viruses that causes human disease and this has made attempts to create traditional vaccines very problematic. This might work at removing this scourge. If not, other companies are also developing HIV vaccines. There is also talk that may or may not come to anything about a potential near-universal flu vaccine. Who knows? 2

The Nehor Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Louisiana is less than a week away from implementing some form of triage. 1
Calm Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 I wonder if it would help if we could to get waivers from as many family members and patients and workers to film a documentary. I get why they don’t, but extraordinary needs and I would be shocked if they didn’t have volunteers….but I can see a hospital of being too afraid of being accused of taking advantaged of people in pain and then there is the long term image issue of a hospital getting labeled where they couldn’t handle covid. Once we got something like that, how many would assume that it was faked?

Hate to quote myself but worth adding that mRNA vaccine technology has the potential (a few years down the road) to give us vaccines for some forms of cancer and might even be usable as a cancer therapy. A ways out admittedly. 1
Calm Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 Can at least share these…how many will say “they would have died anyway?” https://www.nbcnews.com/coronavirus-remembering-lives-lost

Once we got something like that, how many would assume that it was faked? In the first spike amateur reporters would show up outside hospitals and point out that the whole thing was faked because the hotel lobby wasn’t full. As if they would be storing overflow patients there or something. The problem is that medical personnel wouldn’t want the liability risk of having others in the Covid area of a hospital and the waiver would probably only cover one or two patients. There is also something cold about letting in a documentary crew to see patients when the patient’s own family can’t even see them. 1
Calm Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) From a medical professional friend…there are a number in FAIR, so been blessed at times with at the front info. I felt this explained two of the terms quite well, efficacy and effectiveness. “Because there is a lot of misinformation on Covid right here in River City, I put this together: Vaccine efficacy is the degree to which a vaccine prevents disease under ideal controlled circumstances – comparing a vaccinated group with a placebo group. Effectiveness meanwhile refers to how well the vaccine performs in the real world. When a population is vaccinated, factors like the medications people take, underlying chronic illnesses, age, and how the vaccine is stored and administered can reduce effectiveness below the vaccine’s efficacy. The effectiveness of a vaccine is measured in “observational studies” because participants are not randomly assigned to a treatment versus a placebo group. If the vaccine is effective, the cases are more likely to occur in unvaccinated individuals. Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine has an efficacy of 94.5%, yet its effectiveness is around91% for preventing alpha disease and 88% for the delta variant. Even more impressive is that the effectiveness of all the US vaccines is 99.5% in preventing death from both variants. Vaccines do not always need to have high effectiveness to be helpful. For example, the influenza vaccine is 40-60% effective yet saves thousands of lives every year. Just because the effectiveness of a vaccine may wear off doesn’t mean it’s no good or that big pharma is trying to bilk us. The initial vaccine to prevent shingles wore off after 5-10 years, and older vaccinated adults developed shingles with permanent post-shingles neuropathic pain. With more time, a longer-lasting vaccine was developed. Shingles is an excellent example of how natural immunity to a virus wears off with time. It happens with Covid, only in less time. Therefore, the CDC recommends you get vaccinated even though you’ve had a documented case of Coronavirus. Consider what happened to the world-renowned author of “Fit for Life,” Bill Phillips. At 57 years old, he was the picture of health until he developed his second round of Covid. He chose not to be vaccinated, hoping that the immunity he had from his first infection would protect him. He spent a month on a ventilator and lost 70 pounds. Just because you’ve had Covid-19 doesn’t mean you can’t get another more serious infection within a couple of years. Phillips is now encouraging people to “quit the nonsense and get vaccinated.”” Edited August 17, 2021 by Calm 2

Is it possible that is just one end of this continuum instead of a different thing? I mean, the flu data are readily available for comparison. We have a former ward member who actually left the Church pre-Covid because we weren't 'conservative' enough for him. He posted last year an image that claimed to be a screenshot from some American state's health department comparing influenza and Covid and showing that the latter was a non-issue. It was easy for me to go to the state's actual web page, find the real data, screenshot it, and post it in reply. His response: of course 'they' have changed the web page to match the desired narrative ... ETA: I think I have gone beyond what you intended for this thread here. Sorry! I'll stop. Calm Posted August 17, 2021 Author Posted August 17, 2021 (edited) I am losing track of which thread we are on. Thanks for catching that. I need to call it a night anyway on thinking. I so need summer to be over with and smoke and heat both gone. Cooling off for a few days, hoping to bounce back. If not, you all may be subjected to an unusual amount of ranting given I just had a fantastic week a week or so ago…and I am not happy it isn’t coming back as easily as I thought it was going to. Got to keep sodium low to keep brain fog low and that is not easy if using even a little quickie food and one has company and doesn’t want to waste leftovers…man, could not stop that moaning from slipping out.
