Covid III: Delta Force

Relevant article about the FDA.

Quote

Although the FDA did kill thousands of people by unnecessarily delaying COVID tests, at least it also killed thousands of people by unnecessarily delaying COVID vaccines. I’ll let you click on links for the details (1, 2, 3, 4, etc, etc, etc) except to remind you that they still have not officially granted full approval to a single COVID vaccine, and the only reason we can get these at all is through provisional approvals that they wouldn’t have granted without so much political pressure.

I worry that people are going to come away from this with some conclusion like “wow, the FDA seemed really unprepared to handle COVID.” No. It’s not that specific. Every single thing the FDA does is like this. Every single hour of every single day the FDA does things exactly this stupid and destructive, and the only reason you never hear about the others is because they’re about some disease with a name like Schmoe’s Syndrome and a few hundred cases nationwide instead of something big and media-worthy like coronavirus.

The FDA is largely evil. Something has to the do the job the FDA does but we live in a nation of bad people so we get the FDA.

Large study of Ivermectin completed.

Study found no benefit when using it to treat Covid.

One of the principal investigators said:

“I've had enough abuse and so have the other clinical trialists doing Ivermectin. Others working in this area have been threatened, their families have been threatened, they've been defamed.”

It would be interesting to see approvals by different organizations in different countries.  I know the insulin pump I want is taking longer to approve here than it did in the UK.  Also a medicine for preclampsia is used quite a bit in Europe (or at least was 20 years ago when I had my last child).  It had fewer side effects than the one commonly used in the US  but it wasn't FDA approved.

So I just wonder how much of the world has used their regular way to approve meds and have approved the vaccines that way.

We do need to remember that the FDA is American. The European Union Medicines Agency approved the use of the vaccines. But anti-vaccers always point to the FDA as their excuse for not being vaccinated. And of course, what is in the vaccines.

They have to follow the same strict protocols that they follow with all other vaccines.  What would be even more damaging to the credibility of these agencies is if they cut corners to get the vaccine approved more rapidly, then later have to back track due to emerging unknown and previously unseen side-effects.  That would give antivaccers an even bigger smile.

I know. But can you imagine what would happen if they don't approve it? Major turmoil and trauma.

It is going to be approved. They have had plenty of time to process the data and go over everything. The only question is why it is taking so long.

That was my question too. But the response that I got was that they are taking their time to make an informed decision. It will come soon i hope. But the big problem is with African-Americans. They have a very low percentage of vaccinations. And this probably has nothing to do with anti-vaccers.

They are taking their time to make an informed decision seems to me to be silly. They have the data already.

It has to do with minority communities having fewer vaccination sites per capita and the American medical establishment having been weaponized against them for the last few centuries. Having been used by doctors for unethical experiments doesn’t make you trust doctors. When established authority has also actively been discriminating against you (financially, legally, etc) for most of your life you also don’t trust authority in general.

Here is an article about it from NPR.

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/08/11/1026190062/covid-delta-variant-transmission-cdc-chickenpox

According to the article the R Value for the delta variant is 7.

I wonder if there is any information on what the R value is for someone vaccinated?

How the R value changes based on the presence of a mask mandate?

How likely am I to get the Delta variant if I am vaccinated? How much does it change if I wear a mask? if the person who is sick wears a mask? If the person who was sick was vaccinated, if both wear a mask? If both were vaccinated and both wore a mask?

Any studies?

And you need to include duration of location as how long you are in a place significantly matters as well as where that is…if outdoors is very different than indoors at home, for example.

That could also be a factor.

another question to answer is why does the vaccine fail so often? is it due to an individuals health, which vaccine was taken?

If the vaccine doesn't reduce the r value below 1, then the disease will never go away.

Fail in what sense?

People with the vaccine still get the virus, still transmit the virus and still get sick from the virus and still die with the virus.

Not in a statistical sense.  If you do follow statistics and assume the most aggressive 99 percent significance level. The FDA protocols are slaves to the statistical method.

The numbers between each of those is dramatically different, so probably infections should be addessed differently as a failure than transmission which probably should be addressed differently than serious illness and death when it comes to vaccinations, imo.  Maybe group the first two together.

The latter, serious hospitalizations and death…at what point would you view a vaccine as successful given none are seen as 100% effective as far as I know.

Hard to believe the statistics when you see people around you who are vaccinated getting the virus.  when you roll snake eyes over and over again, you start to wonder if the dice are loaded.

Also its extremely diffucult to believe that we have over a 70% vaccinated rate and the virus is spreading much faster than when no one was vaccinated.

It is not the same virus.

Statistics don't lie. You generally can't get into court on anecdotal evidence for this type of stuff.

Then people should just admit it and develop a different vaccine for the different virus.

I go into court all the time with anectotal evidence.

Statistics make the best lies.
