Popular Post CA Steve
The Church Newsroom today announced Quote As part of its ongoing efforts to protect all its members and follow the example of the prophet, the Church is asking all members to get their Covid-19 vaccinations before attending any church meetings or attending the temple. Those who cannot or will not get vaccinated but still wish to attend ward services, may attend but will be asked to sit out in the foyers in order to avoid exposing faithful members to this disease. According to Elder G.G. Liddy, "this shouldn't be a big deal since that is where most members who do not follow the prophet's example end up anyways". What a great day for such an announcement! 5 Link to comment

Kenngo1969
It looks like I'll have both of my vaccinations before I attend church in person anyway, and given the pace at which Temples appear to be resuming normal operations, it's likely I won't attend the Temple before I'm fully vaccinated, either. Popular Post bluebell
I noticed that the church did change the General Handbook to include a section on the importance of vaccines and how everyone should be getting them and getting their children immunized. I'm sure that did not go over well in some sectors. 5 Link to comment

He said, "In the Hurricane 98th Ward we have not and will not wear masks, nor will we be vaccinated. Have you not read the scripture, 'The wise man's eyes are in his head; but the fool walks in darkness, and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all'"? I asked him, "What the heck does that mean"? Sorry. That's all I could get out of him. 1 Link to comment

And I know the OP was tongue in cheek but I find it reasonable for the church, or really any public accommodations to be limited to people who have been vaccinated (once everyone has had the opportunity) with exceptions for a religious and medical exception. Think about the bad PR, not to mention the human toll, if a temple worker/patron was the epicenter of an outbreak. People are generally required to receive all kinds of vaccinations before going to school, college, overseas, join the military, etc. etc. There are ways for people to opt out in some cases which is good, but the vaccination requirements seem totally reasonable to me. I don't see why Covid would be any different. One of my daughters is in college and has been quarantined multiple times this year due to exposure from classes. Each and every time she was contact traced from a class. She's hoping school will get back to normal in the fall but unless the university requires the vaccine they will likely still have extreme limitations on activities which is a real downer. The refusal of many to use the vaccine only adds uncertainty and prolongs the agony of the pandemic. rant over 4 Link to comment

Liddy attribution immediately gave it away for me. I guess it’s because I’m part of the Watergate generation — and Liddy’s death was in the news this week. But I’ll admit you had me going until I saw that part. I was worried, because I’ve been called back to work in our temple and I can’t find a place locally to schedule a vaccination. Link to comment

Initially I was a bit unsure about the vaccine but once the solid data started coming out of Israel, I dropped my previous skepticism. Link to comment

It's a good thing you didn't post this in the missionary mom's group. There have already been several threads with people asking if it is true that it is required for missionaries. 2 Link to comment
