Glove dispensers and mask dispensers at each door location for visitors might be a workable option, though. Members would probably be expected to provide their own, with welfare assistance for people who couldn't afford them. Sounds good but masks are in very short supply. Perhaps hand sanitizer will be passed around before the sacrament is passed. Everyone has clean their hands before the prayer. Otherwise that would be a great way for someone to pass the virus on to a dozen people with the trays.
MustardSeed Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 I will not be taking sacrament any more. I’m sure the Lord knows my heart. When we are quarantined my husband will provide sacrament. 2
Prof Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 My mom is ward librarian. Last week, I bought a bottle of hand sanitizer for the library. I had thought a bout putting one at each entrance to the chapel. I may do that still. Yesterday at stake conference, there was a young man, recent convert I believe, who was offering a squirt of hand sanitizer to all the missionaries he had worked with. 1

When we are quarantined my husband will provide sacrament. I think we should tighten up sanitary measures. Have the Priests and Deacons wear food prep gloves they put on right before the sacrament. Tell families to not let their children touch the trays or get their own bread and water. Have people use hand sanitizer as they enter the chapel and also emphasize if you have a cold or are sick in anyway, don't come to church and especially don't pass the tray. I know services will be cancelled if there is an outbreak in your area, but we have a lot of elderly folks at church and should do all we can to help protect them. Should the elderly just stay home for a few months? It is recommended those in at risk groups don't fly, take a cruise, or attend large gatherings. A Priest in D.C. just texted positive and they have now cancelled all services and they have put people into quarantine. https://wamu.org/story/20/03/07/d-c-reports-first-two-positive-coronavirus-cases/ Toilet paper shortages or a real thing. My mother in law in Idaho could not find any at Walmart but did find it another store and on Facebook, people are looking for tips to find stores that have a stock. *My school district in Colorado just cancelled all school field trips. When groups of Latter-day Saints on cruise ships hold sacrament services, it is with the express approval of the bishop in the nearest ward of whatever port they are docked in. The sacrament is an ordinance that cannot be administered without keys, and the bishop is the key holder for that ordinance in his ward’s jurisdiction.

I can’t imagine why Bishop wouldn’t give blanket permission for all worthy priesthood to provide sacrament if we are not holding public meetings. 3

You may be right about that. But I wasn’t sure you were aware of the necessity (your prior post hadn’t indicated so), and I was just affirming what The Nehor said.

The Nehor Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 I just got instructed to make sure I wash my hands regularly “with bacterial soap”. I think my employers are trying to kill me....... 1

I think my employers are trying to kill me....... Our school district just released guidelines.... 1. No parent-teacher conferences 2. No field trips 3. No work-related trips for staff or administration 4. No school volunteers 5. No evening or weekend events including concerts and plays 6. No JHS athletic events 7. High school athletic events will continue as scheduled 8. SAT and ACT tests will continue 9. In-school before and after school day care will continue 10. Regular classes will continue 11. PTA events cancelled How does this make sense? So far, nothing at church, except a letter from the stake presidency read in sacrament meeting reassuring members that anyone related to the sacrament will be “healthy and clean” [except maybe the person next to you or the one just down the pew], and to stay home if you are sick. The Nehor Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 I had a training meeting with the Stake Clerk and Stake Executive Secretary tonight. The area was clear but today cases are popping up quickly. Have they still not sorted out the test kit situation? Everything is just a presumptive positive. Depending on how the rest of the week goes I could see the stake start shutting things down this Sunday or next. I need to clean up my “work from home” desk here too. I will probably need it next week. I also wish the pollen count would fall. My allergies are making me look like Typhoid Nehor. 1

We are starting drive thru testing w/doctors note tomorrow. Labcorp and Quest are also on board but results take longer. Lab capacity has been a huge issue. All state labs are now up and running and private labs are coming on line. I hope the spring weather puts a damper on the spread but they really don't know if it will yet. I watch the press briefings from the CDC and the Feds each day. They are stressing that now is the time to practice social distancing and take preventative measures if you are in a high risk group even if your state has no cases. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLcyNzloAwM&feature=emb_title

Peacefully Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Copied from a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint Facebook group: “Here's a little glimpse into Church in the heart of the Covid-19 outbreak. I live in the Snohomish county just north of Seattle. - The temple is closed - Church meetings are reduced to sacrament meeting only - Youth activities cancelled - No Relief Society weeknight meetings - No ward or stake activities or choir practice - Presidency meetings are encouraged to be remote - Young men are required to vigorously wash their hands and sanitize everything before preparing the sacrament. - In the chapel, every other row is reserved so that the deacons can pass to every individual. Nobody else touches the trays. - Some wards are putting the bread into individual cups. - Seminary will continue unless schools are closed. (Some schools have been shut down if a teacher or student tests positive.) This will be in place through the rest of March, then they'll re-evaluate.” I think the bread in individual cups is a great idea and sitting every other row if space allows. These are steps all wards could take at this point. I think I will mention these ideas in ward council if the subject comes up. 3
