But as bad as the company and conditions sound, as mentioned in the above scriptures, it is still a level of heaven where they receive the Holy Spirit through the ministration of the terrestrial;(verse 86) It's the best fit for those people who have become the kind of people they were while on earth.

No, they will not be able to do what they do here. The Telestial is the fate of the wicked after enduring hell's purification. They come out better on the other end. 3

On second thought, the idea of back to back to back 10,000 year Dukes of Hazard marathons should be enough to motivate anyone to give up their evil ways.

phaedrus ut Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I was a grown adult before I knew that the word Telestial didn't exist until D&C 76. It looks Greek/Latinish like Celestial and Terrestrial so I always assumed it was a real word. It wasn't until I had a student ask why Celestial is the sun when it means the stars and Terrestrial is the stars when it means the earth and why Telestial was made up. Needless to say i was a bit embarrassed of my naiveté. Phaedrus 1

Tacenda Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 We've been told from the church leaders, at least the current administration, that no one knows for sure.

Or am I way off? Nope, won't lie I've been unstable in the past and almost hospitalized. Long story short in a new place and considering another ward. Little nervous but it was an LDS friend who in the end who really helped me. I'm trying to get on my feet and not end up a total mental shipwreck again, and well the mormon afterlife is really, well, forgiving. 2

The meaning of Telestial is unknown. But given that 1. Heaven/Space and 2. Earth, then we could reason several options for the 3rd level meaning. In fact, someone did - https://bycommonconsent.com/2010/01/27/the-etymology-of-telestial/ I like the idea of it meaning distant or the end. Kind of fits. The usage of Sun -> Moon -> Stars is for comparison of levels of light and has no connection to the meaning of the words.
