Stadium of Fire is generally held on July 4, but this year will be held Saturday night so as to not interrupt Family Home Evening traditions on Monday. The Freedom Festival uses Brigham Young University facilities and staff to put on the event.

What will be your activity on Monday, July 4th?

Every year our ward produces a 4th of July breakfast. Full pancake/bacon/sausage etc., flag ceremony

by the Scouts, a message from the bishop, recognition of veterans, and a kid parade around the parking

lot. One of our members has a giant Uncle Sam costume that he wears (he stands on stilts), kids decorate

their bikes and wagons, and lots of loud patriotic music. It's always well attended and attracts some non-members.

We always have FHE on Sunday night so the 4th won't impact anything.

I would have thought that any activities relating to celebrating the 4th would be considered a good activity for FHE? Or did they change it so those running things could be with their families? The change seems silly to me.

I consider what we do on the 4th FHE enough for us. We at least start out off with a prayer before we eat or BBQ!

We generally go to the parade.  On the way home we buy cookout fixings, and fireworks.  We might stop at the dairy for ice cream.  In the afternoon the kids usually play in the water.  The two youngest, at least, will probably watch a few episodes of Liberty's Kids.  In the evening we will have a cookout.  Then we watch 1776 until it's dark enough to set off our own fireworks.  Finally, we load everyone up and drive to "our spot," which is close enough to the city fireworks to get a good view, but out of the traffic. We prefer to get home before midnight.

We go back and forth on having FHE on Sunday or Monday night.  In general it is on Monday night.  For the forseeable future it is on Sunday night since DD just started singles ward FHE since graduating this year. So while we won't be having a lesson on the 4th, we would have probably had one if we were having FHE on that night.  

I'm not a purist on having events on their dates so I have no problems with it being moved to Saturday.

July 4th was the original Brexit

On Canada day (July 1st) we went to a park where the city and a few community groups provided free hot dogs and other treats, then we went to a rural museum which had Canada Day activities. We ended it with a fire work display at a local high school, again sponsored by my local community. They had all sorts of family activities lasting until 10pm when the fireworks started. No time for a family home evening on our independence, we were having too much fun. But the day was filled with Canada Day focused activities so I would not have seen the need to then end the day with a lesson even if it were on a Monday.

I am planning to refight the American Revolutionary War on a tabletop to find out if the British should have won. If we have time we will probably also refight the War of the Ring to determine the fate of Middle Earth.

Nehor...have you ever thought about being a stand up comic???  Imagine..!  You and Kirby could do so well in bridging some laughter between Mormonism and the world!!

I work.  I kid you not though..at the store, it has been like Christmas!  So many people and orders..I was tempted on break today to sneak into a parked motor home and just see where it would take me!

I am not quick enough on my feet. I have wit but I tend to be a little too slow in person.

I play a lot of games. Today I refought the Austrian War of Succession. The Pragmatic Army broke the will of France. God save the Queen! Plus we got a female Hapsburg on the throne. Viva la feminism!
