Walden Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Tough loss last week for the Cougars at UCLA; I thought that BYU had them with their solid running game, but the Bruins found a way to win. Despite the loss, I like BYU at Michigan this week. The Wolverines have a shaky secondary and a turnover-prone QB, so if BYU can slow down the rushing attack and continue to throw the ball well, they will be in this game. Go Cougs! 2
Jeanne Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Uh oh..not even half time and BYU is down by 21...USU will win next week!!
Garden Girl Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I'M HAVING THE VAPORS!! What in the world is going on with the Cougars?? We're playing terrible... a game we are/were favored to win. True, Michigan is a really good team with a fearsome defense... but this is just stunning...Jeanne... they are down 31 to 0... and it is now halftime... We'll never be able to make up the deficit but hopefully we'll put some points up... this is terrible. GG

Dgal Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Was there even a team on the field today? Given what happened to today, the rest of the season is a toss up in my view.
Garden Girl Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Was there even a team on the field today? Given what happened to today, the rest of the season is a toss up in my view. Doesn't even look like the same team that played Nebraska, Boise State, and almost beat UCLA (certainly we outplayed UCLA and should have won that game). But today... GG
Dgal Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 That was disappointing That was so beyond disappointing.
Jeanne Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I thought there were some questionable coaching decisions. I thought BYU's questionable use of time outs would create clock management problems late in a close game. As much as I wish BYU would have won, it's tough for me to feel all that bad about a close loss to the tenth-ranked team in the nation. And there's no time for the team to feel sorry for itself: If it starts doing that, another handful of losses is on the horizon. What's done is done. Time for the Cougs to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, forget what happened last night and start focusing on the next game.Yeah,,,with Utah State next Saturday!
3DOP Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Not to rub it in...but, somebody named me said before the season started: My only disagreement might be that the new coaching staff at Michigan should be viewed as a negative. Jim Harbaugh has had fast positive impact in his prior two assignments at Stanford and San Francisco. 1
3DOP Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 But you guys should get four in a row from now. Maybe five?
rodheadlee Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Do you guys like Utah? The Utes? Wow.Yeah, they killed the Ducks. I'm a UCLA fan.
Garden Girl Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Yeah, they killed the Ducks. I'm a UCLA fan. We should have beat UCLA... we outplayed them most of the game. Actually, we should have just tried to get in field goal range instead of passing... we would have won by two points. GG
Mars Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Yeah,,,with Utah State next Saturday! the utah state game is thanksgiving weekend.

Kenngo1969 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I admire what Bronco wants to do with his defense, the only problem is, can he recruit the kind of athletes he needs to do it consistently. I have my doubts. I couldn't watch the whole game (praise Heaven above! ) because I had to work, but it seems, from what little I did see and what I heard, that BYU's receivers had trouble making themselves available for their talented-but-inexperienced quarterback. When a defense has good upfield pursuit and good downfield coverage, it makes life very difficult for an offense. And BYU's defense usually only has one of those two things; either that, or it overpursues and ends up having to scramble to make a play. That said, the defense did shut Michigan out in the second half (albeit, probably against Michigan's fifth-stringers, who aren't likely to see the field again all year ). Still, as much as I would have preferred a win or, at worst, a close loss, I don't think all is lost: Tanner's still the man, by gum, and, while his receivers might have difficulty against a secondary as athletic as the Wolverines', BYU isn't likely to face that kind of a test again this year.
Kenngo1969 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Do you guys like Utah? The Utes? Wow.VERSEI am a Utah Man/Fan, sir, and I live across the green,Our gang it is the jolliest that you have ever seen. Our students are the finest and each one's a shining star,Our yell, you'll hear it ringing through the mountains near and far! CHORUSWho am I, sir,A Utah Man/Fan am I!A Utah Man/Fan, sir,Will be 'til I die.Ki-yi!We're up to snuff, we never bluff, we're game for any fuss.No rival band of college fans dare meet us in The Muss*.So fill your lungs and sing it out and shout it to the sky,We'll fight for dear old crimson for a Utah Man/Fan am I!Ki-yi! VERSEAnd when we prom the avenue,All lined up in a row, and arm in arm,And step in time as down the street we go.No matter if a freshman green, or in a senior's gown, the people all admit we are the warmest gang in town. CHORUSVERSEWe may not live forever on this jolly good sphere,But while we do we'll live a life of merriment and cheer,And when our college days are o'er and night is drawing nigh,With parting breath we'll sing that song: "A Utah Man/Fan Am I." Go Utes!*MUSS = Mighty Utah Student Section! Could be the Utes' to finally make some noise in the PAC!
3DOP Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 *MUSS = Mighty Utah Student Section! Could be the Utes' to finally make some noise in the PAC! heheh. Could be indeed Kenngo. The Pac-8, er Pac-10, er Pac-12 seems up for grabs. I have barely begun to accept that those Arizona schools belong in my conference. And now you want me to accept these "Easterners" from the mountains? They are as close to the Pacific as Ohio State is to the Atlantic! Nevertheless, they seem to be making some "noise" as you say. If they could get there, come January, I'll be all for the UTES against anybody the wrong side of the Rockies. 1
Garden Girl Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Well at last we get a win... 30 - 13. If BYU hadn't won the game against UCONN, we would have really been in trouble after the embarassment of the Michigan loss...I hope the team will pay close attention to the play films and note the numerous mistakes that should not have been made... the weak responses... but also to see the good things we did... the flashes of everything clicking.I was yelling at the TV on several occasions... heh... but, thankfully, the Cougs prevailed... GG 1
Kenngo1969 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 ... I was yelling at the TV on several occasions... heh... but, thankfully, the Cougs prevailed... GGHeh. What's Bob's reaction when you do that? Does he hide? Our doggie didn't know quite what to make of it when her "#1" (my mom) had such reactions when she watched Jazz games. 1
