I fear we (BYU) is going to have to play much better if they are going to be successful with their schedule... I was disappointed in Taysom Hill's performance... He didn't seem to be his "old" self.

Sept 17, 2016... Well here we are with BYU's opening home game against UCLA... and I'm really disappointed in the way our Cougs are playing... Taysom Hill has lost his magic.  I noticed it in our last game against the Utes.  It's not all his fault... our offense has been mediocre... with 2+ mins left in the first half they had had only 2 first downs... Taysom was sacked a minimum of 3 times... Jamal Williams had only 7 yards rushing... etc etc

The defense has made some really good plays, particularly against Rosen, the much touted UCLA quarterback, forcing numerous punts, and has generally been doing a pretty good job in spite of UCLA leading 10 - 0 at the half.  But thinking about our upcoming schedule, I get a real sinking feeling... I'm hoping we can get it together for the second half...

So let me know if I need to be prepared for my husband to come home glum or not.

Be prepared for glum...

Yep... we're in trouble...

Taysom had -7 on the ground... in the after game show on BYU-tv, the three commentators all agreed that Taysom wasn't "his old self."  One reporter asked Coach Sataki if he was considering bringing in Mangum, and Coach said he was satisfied with the players on the field... so Taysom stayed in...

Of course, I lay this at the feet of the coaches... mainly the offense... because the defense had some terrific playing...

Thankfully he came home in a good mood.  The defense was entertaining enough that he saw the game as a plus.  And since he didn't complain about the refs, the thing that most bugs him (bad calls) apparently weren't a big deal...I could also tell it wasn't a vigorous game because he still had his voice.  And I got the benefit of doing a neatness in the kitchen so he wouldn't be more depressed when he got home....currently putting all my energy into going through family pictures my mom has dump on...ah, entrusted me with over the past couple of decades as it is obvious now she won't be organizing them and there are some I don't know who they are and need to check with her before it is too late.  Plus we are running out of storage room because she keeps getting my sister in law to buy her stuff and then she isn't that thrilled with it, but doesn't want to hurt her feelings so she wears it once and washes it and then decides to put it in storage til she needs it, so it gets taken over here along with all her books she may want sometime in the future and stuff I am supposed to hold onto for siblings and nieces until they are ready for them (married and settled in a house, not an apartment).

lol, looks like I am quite frustrated because my big plan to finish off the new 'mail' desk to ensure bills get paid (for some reason even after years of being proved wrong, my husband still assumes he knows what is inside a letter without opening it) in a timely manner got waylaid so I can't finish up the major picture effort tomorrow as planned so I can goof off next week by only having to take my daughter to the doctor on Monday...and Tuesday and Wednesday and do errands with Mom on Thursday.

I give up!!  I ABSOLUTELY GIVE UP!!!

Toledo just took the lead... 28 to 21...

Taysom Hill's skill has been squandered... keeping him in the pocket has resulted in constant pressure, sacks, incompletes, etc etc...  OH!! Bless Jamal Williams... He just answered with a touchdown run of his own, and we are now tied...  28 to 28.

But I still say Taysom looks confused or discouraged when the camera shows his face... and I still blame the coaching..

Oh great... Toledo just completed a field goal to take the lead again... well, so it goes...

GG

I did an "Edit to add" after the game but it doesn't show here... so... Wow!  Just Wow!! what a game... basketball scores (BYU wins 55 to 53).
