Your mind is held up by an aging, biological organ we call the human brain. The physical brain is not doing the thinking, it is the conduit for thought in this world, but the thinking originates elsewhere....

Not sure what you mean by saying the mind is held up by the brain. Our mind is aka our spirit, so yes while our spirit uses and accesses our brain I wouldn't say it is "held up" by it. But maybe I just don't understand what you meant when you said that. Edited by Ahab

Demonstrate this please.

When you die and your spirit leaves your body do you imagine your brain will still be doing your thinking for you?

Your body and all of the parts in it will decay and return to dust but your spirit will still go on thinking. Wait and see.

This whole life experience is happening in our mind and all that matters is the strength of our connection to the mind of God.

"Think" about it: brains are biological, fallible, aging-susceptible, and eventually DEAD. Any immortal mind operating through such an organ is held up/handicapped by its limitations....

Can't. We don't "touch" metaphysically, so with the limitation of the five identifiable senses, the biological senses, recognized and accessed by the brain, I have no way of communicating to you what I know by faith. You are also limited in transmitting to me what you know by faith, i.e. metaphysically. The only One who is in contact with us metaphysically is God, the Source of each of our minds....

Oh, so you mean held up as in slowed down, like when someone says they were held up in traffic. Gotcha now, I think.

So if the brain isn't doing the thinking but it can hold up the thought process, then when the brain has rotted into mush in the coffin the thought process speeds up?

You're teasing me. I'll answer anyway: of course not, the dementia-riddled organ was dropped a long time ago, and the immortal mind freed of the restraint....

So you, as many, feel the physical body to be something of a curse?

Not me but I do have a problem with some of the things that happen to it.

Oh I love that Calmoriah, am eager to hear a demonstration of the age old metaphysical connection of the mind and body.

Yes, it will be an historical event, don't you think?

Wait and see.

The claim was made in this thread so I don't think I want to wait....plus that does no good for the rest of the world eager to find out what QB apparently has been able to determine for himself.

Demonstration request sadly withdrawn then.

Can't say that I agree with that completely.

No. The mortal body, now, that is a different question. Yes, I find the mortal body "cursed" with infirmities, mounting infirmities as middle age advances to "high middle age" (which is more positive than saying "old age"). Then there are the genetic "curses" at birth. And the results of damage through unwise choices, accidents and ignorance, etc. I find all of these bad enough, but to layer on the "curses" we have people doing nasty things to others, victimizing them in countless ways. All of these "curses" are only mortal ones, though. My religious world view sees us as immortals, physical and perfect and incapable of being destroyed by the forces in the world. We are "gods", "the god race" in fact, but like Jesus Christ, we "descend" to the mortal realm to undergo learning experiences that physically perfect beings cannot comprehend. And the purpose of experiencing mortality is to learn what Joy Is and is not, so that we will be grateful for who and what we are as immortals. Only gratitude comprehends what Joy Is. Without gratitude there is no recognition of the Joyful state. So are mortals who are "cursed" the worst learning more Joy, or undergoing a "flogging" because they just don't "get it" yet? Maybe both....

You plan on living until the Millennium? If not, what about between death and resurrection?

Hm, time faster than the speed of light?

I tried to time flies one time, when I was having fun, but I couldn't get them to race. That's ok though because I had problems with my stopwatch anyway

Yes it is truly odd that Elder Nelson a medical doctor would not know the difference between a living organism and a nonliving explosion in print shop. All that is is a variation on the watchmaker analogy fallacy. http://en.wikipedia....chmaker_analogy

That is correct... there is a difference between the non-living and living. The living, cannot come from the non-living as it lacks that spark of life. I wonder what was the living part of the Big Bang that got the evolutionary ball rolling...
