It is MNSHO that modern prophecy gives none of those answers. However I do note that any mention of the US in any significant role is missing. England is there, Russia is there Israel is there and middle east Arabic countries are there. It always seemed strange to me but the way our political situation is shaping up I can see why.

Yes. The Lamanites (I assume Hispanics) will blossom like a rose and, aided, by their Gentile brethren (most of the current Church) build the Holy City of Zion.

The government? No idea. The people? Yes, unless they repent the prophecy is that the Lamanites will basically tear them to pieces. I advise repentance.

Probably both just like it has always been.

It will still end or at best be subsumed at the Second Coming. Plus I question whether that prophecy suggests that the nation will survive. Sounds more like a remnant holding to the Constitution when the rest is on the verge of collapse or actually collapses.

If you count the Book of Mormon, or the prophecies about the latter days in it as latter day prophecy:

1 Nephi 13 speaks of the European settlement of the “New World” and the subsequent rebellion of the colonists against their former home nation. While most of the chapter could refer to any group or locale on the Western Hemisphere, I read a narrowing down to the USA when it comes to verse 34 since New York and Pennsylvania are where the Restoration of the Lord’s “gospel, which shall be plain and precious” took place. The rest of the chapter seems to indicate that “America” would be the land where this begins to take place and will spread to all the other nations.

1 Nephi 14 speaks of blessings and curses upon depending on their faithfulness in carrying the Gospel to Lehi’s seed and the rest of the nations. Again, verse 7 seems to point to the USA as the place where this begins, though the activity is eventually extended to every place and nation where Lehi’s seed might be found, and the eventually to every nation.

So far these chapters indicate that based on the righteousness of the people as a whole, America will survive and not be conquered by its enemies and will be a force for good, or perhaps better put, the locale from whence the forces for the restoration and sending forth of the Gospel are based. Regardless of what happens to America, the Lord’s work in the “land of America” will go forward and the American saints of course will be part of that, whether they are of a Gentile nation, of Lehi’s seed, or otherwise part of the house of Israel.

3 Nephi 20 and 21 reiterate these themes and takes the prophecy a step further by referencing the future New Jerusalem, which the Articles of Faith states is to be established on the American continent, specifically Missouri (D&C 84), but the future of America as a nation depends on the righteousness of the people.

This is an interesting topic and one that I have thought about for decades.

Interestingly, President Benson stated that the events leading up to the appearance of Christ in the Americas among the Nephites was a type or pattern for the events that will occur in America before Christ's second coming.

It is fascinating to see the political, social, and religious parallels between the record between 3 Nephi 1 and the destruction before Christ appears.

I saw armies arrayed against armies. I saw blood, desolation, fires. The Son of Man has said that the mother shall be against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother. These things are at our doors. They will follow the Saints of God from city to city. Satan will rage, and the spirit of the devil is now enraged. I know not how soon these things will take place; but with a view of them, shall I cry peace? No; I will lift up my voice and testify of them. Elder Orson Pratt also described the anarchy that would sweep the nation:

"What then will be the condition of that people, when this great and terrible war shall come? It will be very different from the war between the North and the South. Do you wish me to describe it? I will do so. It will be a war of neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed, and manufacturing will, in a great measure, cease, for a time, among the American nation.

Why? Because in these terrible wars, they will not be privileged to manufacture; there will be too much bloodshed, too much mobocracy, too much going forth in bands and destroying and pillaging the land to suffer people to pursue any local vocation with any degree of safety.

What will become of millions of the farmers upon that land? They will leave their farms and they will flee before the ravaging armies from place to place; and thus will they go forth burning and pillaging the whole country; and that great and powerful nation, will be wasted away, unless they repent." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 20:151, given on March 9, 1879.)

It's disputed whether this is at all accurate, but I've seen this one going around.

I had a book about modern revelations concerning the last days, I haven't seen that book in a while though. It did discuss America. I wouldn't quote it as Gospel Doctrine though.

I do need you to define exactly what you mean by "survive" the lawyer in me just doesn't like answering ambiguous questions.

I would argue that it's already been a force for God and I don't know if it will be conquered by enemies but I don't think so. Eventually Zion shall be established among us.

But in terms of scriptures, you might just want to put the keyword "nation" into the lds.org online scriptures and spend some time studying what is really there.

Here are some for all to consider. (Any italics are mine.)

3 Nephi 16:10 And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.

3 Nephi 20:20 And it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that the sword of my justice shall hang over them at that day; and except they repent it shall fall upon them, saith the Father, yea, even upon all the nations of the Gentiles.

D & C 35:7 And it shall come to pass that there shall be a great work in the land, even among the Gentiles, for their folly and their abominations shall be made manifest in the eyes of all people.

And the "best" for last:

While this stuff does tell of very intense stuff which we are, as humanity as a whole, right now living through (it is NOT future, it is now)--I feel like it is something transformative that will leave room for something to be born from the "ashes".
