Hubby and I saw the new Star Trek last night.  Loved it.  I give it 4 out of 5 stars, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!

I'm not a trekkie, but maybe need to see this then. And I'm also wondering how Jeaane liked the movie! I didn't like ending at all, but know that several have liked it.

Tacenda...I am going to have to watch that movie again...this tired ol' lady...went to sleep. Kind of ticked off at myself.  Off tomorrow and will watch it again.  Duh..

I'm not s trekkie either but it's very entertaining. Lots of action and emotion and it's pretty funny. Watch the first one from 2009 and you'll see what the new franchise is like.

Tonight I rented "Miracles from Heaven" starring Jennifer Garner and based on real events in the Beam family from Texas... a wonderful family movie with an uplifting message. The family is a Christian, church attending family.  The Beam's 10 year old daughter, Anna, became gravely ill with a rare stomach disease that prevents the body from digesting food... it is very painful; there is no cure and is eventually fatal.  The story centers on the daughter, and Christy Beam's efforts to find help for her, taking her to Boston's Children's Hosp to a well known doctor who handled such cases.  After numerous efforts at treatment, Christy takes Anna home... where one day she is playing with her sisters and they are climbing a huge, hollow, tall tree when she falls 30' into it... what follows then is the Miracle...

Watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.  The first movie was PG and this one is PG-13 which it earns.  There's a lot more sex jokes throughout the movie.  Those kinds of jokes can be funny in small doses but they can get old real fast.  There were some good moments but overall not nearly as good as the first one.

I watched Concussion with Will Smith.  I am a football nut so it was very interesting and sad...I am glad the NFL woke up and doing a better job in helmets and stuff.

The Intern with Robert De Niro. Very good. No nudity, or violence. However not really for the younger set, under about 50.

Watching "Concussion". What do you all feel about this, do you think the football league or the NFL should do something? I feel like warning so many out there, as football season is around the corner.

I watched A Halogram for the King... starring Tom Hanks as a recently divorced businessman sent by his company to try and sell a new halographic conference calling system to the Saudi Arabian king... it's a charming comedy/romance that is shot on location, which provides an interesting look at a planned "new city" and other views of the area/culture.  It does have a brief few minutes that shows a woman's breasts while swimming but done in such a way and part of the story so not really offensive... at least I wasn't offended.  Hanks gives another laudable performance...

We went to see "Kubo and the Two Strings" tonight.  It's an animated film set in Japan.  It's kind of a fable having to do with courage and parental love.  We didn't quite know what to expect, but found ourselves completely drawn in.

I loved that movie.  It felt a lot like a video game but it had a lot of heart.  Great animation too.

I saw the new Bourne movie-it was entertaining the whole time, and i appreciate the lack of sex (though lots of violence of course).  Also saw Me Before You-good solid romance movie, also with no sex so that's a plus since it's hard to find.

Then on Saturday i saw the Jane Austin inspired movie "Love and Friendship".  I was disappointed.  The only funny parts were those that they showed in the trailer and the main character was not at all likable, though i think we were supposed to like her.

I read the book "Me Before You"  and then saw the movie.  Cried..boo..hoo..but as always, I think the book is better.  I am now reading "After You"  which continues the story.

I didn't know there were books! Thanks, I loved the movie so much I may buy it on Amazon, if not, I'll rent it.

Jojo Moyes is a great writer...I am going to get her other ones too.  Kind of a collection.  She is very british and after I read her books I go around saying "sod" all the time!

Watched Hail Caesar this weekend.  It was very entertaining.  Weird, but entertaining.  Lots of good actors and it was kind of fun to see a glimpse of old hollywood and how studios used to practically own the actors that worked for them.

I went to "The Last Descent". It was depressing but gives one hope for the after life and that God has a plan for us.

"In 2009, John Jones explored an un-mapped section of the famous Nutty Putty Cave. After becoming stuck in a hole 18 inches wide and 150 feet under ground, rescue crews worked frantically and heroically to free him. This is the story inspired by not only the incident at Nutty Putty, but by the way John lived his entire life."
