What is a commandment that doesn't fall under Love God or neighbor?

Not that I am any kind of an authority on teaching (I'm as much of an authority on teaching as I am anything else, even things that I studied for years, which is to say, "not much of one," and even that is being generous!) but almost anything that gets the class participating, talking, thinking, and, perhaps, even moving is a good thing.  In the past, I've brought lists of questions to hand out and had classes divide into small groups to discuss the questions, brainstorm answers to them, and then select a spokesperson for each group to present to the class the conclusions that the group comes to.

Perhaps I'm just an Odd Duck (OK, OK, you win: Definitely, I'm an odd duck ;) ) and perhaps I don't have as good of a feel as I think I do for what works well, but I think it has gone over pretty well.

Participating is something that had been talked about in my education week teaching classes and in the many materials the church supplies to help with teaching.  Elder Bednar is very big on it.

It can be really tricky though.  If you ask unsafe questions you won't get much, if any participation - unsafe because it is a fact like dates or a "guess what I'm thinking question".  Mundane primary answers questions or yes or no questions don't work well unless you follow those up with other questions.  If you go too deep too fast it can kill everything.

The small groups thing is great, but depending on where you live it can be very overused and sometimes what the teacher is asking to be discussed is not done well.  One of my education week teachers who taught on teaching had us break up and practice the methods we were learning.  That was brilliant!  But other times people will do things like "discuss how to repent if you steal a candy bar" in an adult class or 'tell the other person some very personal feelings" and those are not good, but that holds true with whole class questions as well.

Doing it too often is a problem.  Introverts withdraw from coming and other people get bored, but that's the same with any method.  If I did a video or a post it note thing every time I taught, people would withdraw there as well.

Then you have to know your students.  I have one woman who will refuse to move from her seat for anything a teacher asks (she wasn't there this week).  If you have a lot of people like this then  movement participation won't work.  But it is absolutely critical to keep it safe for them not to move, you just have to figure out a different way to reach them.

There I go lecturing.

The word of wisdom I don’t think falls under love God or your neighbor.

Not having to smell tobacco smoke is a great gift to a neighbour.

My family will never have to deal with my alcoholism. And the only reason I don’t drink coffee is because I love God. And I do mean only. Do not assume that I think people that drink coffee do not love God. I made a commitment from my own sphere not to drink coffee. I honestly do not think God cares. But I made a promise, and I believe God cares about that.

I think about all of the horror and heartache and abuse, especially against women and children, that would not exist, and would never have existed, if no one was ever under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

That's the best laugh I've had today.  😁

The Law of Chastity applies to several situations.

Even if one doesn’t see premarital sex as problematic or even sinful, I think a different view of extramarital sex can be held at the same time given how people view the marriage relationship as a mutual commitment to monogamy.

I would think a view of adultery as detrimental to those involved and therefore wrong is not that controversial.

I would say avoiding adultery is “loving our neighbor” if we see the “neighbor” as anyone not ourselves.  Loving our neighbor is in essence caring about someone besides ourselves. Adultery at the very least harms the spouse of the adulterer as they are betrayed. Adultery may also harm the partner in adultery as they may destroy their own living relationships. Avoiding creating situations where others are harmed by out behaviour is very much loving our neighbors.

Yes i understand, but the only problem with this commitment is that for some people's view... "The law of chastity means" compleet shut down of (love) having a possible love relationship. That counts for people who are gay or lesbian for example. There is no posibility for me to find love. Because i may not even be together with a man. That's why i have choosen "The law of chastity" as a commitment. That does'n really fall under the love of our neighbors or God from my eye point/view.

But! I do understand you point as well. Because the "Law of chastity" applies under several thinks. Like you allready have mention in your post. And avoiding adultery (cheating on your partner) is indeed something that you can see as loving your neighbors. True. Because you don't wanna hurt your partner (when you have one). And "The law of chastity" should prevent people from that kind of behavoir.
