It’s the same rendering and has the silver steeple/Moroni. Edited December 5, 2021 by Judd 2

Could still be needing to be approved by the local government, still in negotiations of what is and isn’t acceptable. Maybe meeting and the picture to His Majesty was part of the process of getting the community comfortable with it. added: Judd just posted, makes sense they introduce the community to the idea with a successful relatively local example. Craig Speechly Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 In another interesting twist, Book of Mormon themed pictures are also disappearing from LDS church foyers and hallways in preference to pictures of Jesus.

This doesn’t say, though, that Book of Mormon art is to be removed from hallways necessarily, only that foyers and entryways are to have pictures of Jesus rather than art with other themes. I also find it interesting that distracting objects such as posters on easels are not to be displayed in foyers. The prohibition of easels in foyers was put in place years ago, yet it is widely ignored. There’s something about our people that it seems we can’t shed this easelmania. 2

I can't speak to other temples but in this temple the paintings are all about Christ, whether or not they are from the Bible or Book of Mormon-I can't say I have focused too much on the paintings as I tend to get lost in the temple................what does this door lead to? oh, hey they got jelly beans in here!!!!!!!!!! don't mind if I do!

First, it doesn’t “beg the question.” That phrase doesn’t mean to raise the question or prompt the question or incite or invite or inspire the question. It means something totally unrelated to that. Second, it’s not that Book of Mormon art has “fallen out of fashion” in the Church. It’s just that inspired leaders are earnestly endeavoring to emphasize and convey the centrality of Christ in the doctrines and teachings of the Church that He Himself founded and that, consistent with His own direction, is named after Him. Art selection and placement is just one way of doing that. But the Book of Mormon is not going away as a subject for artistic works. In the temple where I serve, for example. there are two copies of a painting that depicts Moroni’s visit to Joseph Smith. One is in the foyer of the baptistery. Wanting to focus more on the Savior than an artist's interpretation of scenes from the BOM doesn't mean anything has fallen out of favor or is forbidden. It just means that priorities have changed somewhat. Given everything else that has been changed to center on the Savior, the change in art makes sense. 1

Greetings Sir, If you are the Scott Lloyd who used to write for the Des News, (fat change of that, but still possible) then I appreciate that you would take the time to correct me, a mere mortal, and I concede that you would be in a better position to know than I would be, given your assumed background. The common trope, Beg(ging) the question comes from a 16th century translation of Aristotle's 'petitio principii'. Simply put, it means to "assume the conclusion." So yes I stand corrected. I should have more correctly assumed the conclusion and merely stated: Quote "It appears that Book of Mormon characters have fallen out of fashion and become forboden. First Moroni from Temple spires and now paintings of Samuel from the walls of Zarahemla or Alma standing in front of King Noah from foyers and hallways. " Instead of framing the statement in a question. That said, I agree, that the church AKA President Nelson, has decided to place a greater emphasis on Christ then on the Book of Mormon characters, which would also explain why Moroni is missing from an ever increasing number of Temple spires

Craig Speechly Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 For those interested, there is actually a list of Temples without a Moroni https://www.ldsliving.com/the-number-of-temples-without-an-angel-moroni-statue-will-soon-double/s/92906
Craig Speechly Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Of the 62 recently announced Temples, 51 or 82% of new temples, will not feature a Moroni statue. Seems Moroni is definitely being relegated.

Just curious --- wondering if @Craig Speechly knows. I will be interested in seeing if **any** Moronis are announced in future ones, because the trend is pretty stark and striking.
