In Utah, over 500,000 people have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic, with 2800 (and some) having died from it.

So, the odds are pretty good in favor of survival. That’s something to celebrate.

Indeed. According to Worldometer data, only five American states have had lower rates of population-wide deaths from Covid: Oregon, Maine, Alaska, Hawaii and Vermont.

Can those involved in heath care pleas explain this anomaly ?

the 27% of of U.S. health care workers who have not been vaccinated against the disease as of July, according to a study by The COVID States Project.

What anomaly? Healthcare workers are more likely to get the vaccine than the general population.

It is worth noting that healthcare workers include a lot of fields that would not see much from the pandemic. If you are a nurse at an endocrinologist’s office for example you are not likely to have much first-hand knowledge of the impact of Covid. ER and ICU healthcare workers have a higher percentage of vaccination than healthcare workers in general.

This kind of racial/social stereotyping would be unacceptable if it were used to attack other folks. Maybe you could choose not to do this any more?

Mocking people in Alabama is not a racial stereotype.

"Birds of a feather " One would think that health care workers in general would be exposed to all the horror stories about clogged hospitals/ ICUs . They are more likely to be exposed to covid patients or people that are close to them. Their vaccination rate should be around 90%  but no, it is about the same  rate as the general population where I live. Perhaps they are hearing the same messages  pro/con as everyone else and choosing to weigh the risks .

I do remember the anomalous message of doctors in smoking ads . 🤫 Maybe ' ironic ' is a better word.

You were given a choice of term.

They don’t flock together though. A nutrition nurse and an ICU nurse do not spend a lot of time interacting with others outside their specialty (or facility). The stats do show that ED and ICU healthcare workers (the ones who live covid deaths in their shifts) are disproportionately vaccinated.

What were the potential racial implications that led to it's inclusion?

Seeing that Alabama is about 70% white... oh I forgot, one can't be racist against whites , sorry.

It's fairly tough to serially marginalize and bulk repress the folks in power, yeah.

Yes it is. Whether you are mocking White, Brown, or Black Alabamans it’s still racial/social stereotyping. Which are you mocking?

Sweden has had a relatively high number of cases per capita. They didn’t do that well. They were held up as a gold standard for those advocating for herd immunity early on but later waves were not kind to it.

They are doing well compared to the US but that is true of almost everywhere.

Fine then.  There really has never been a perfect answer to this whole mess.
And don’t even get me started on the totalitarian state that Australia has become.

No it’s not.

I meant racism that profoundly alters generations of lives in bulk - not the bruising of easily wounded feelings that is sometimes mistaken for racism.

What's so bad about a compulsive, snoopy surveillance state? Except the part about it being subservient to US's growing surveillance state, I mean.

A strong government response requiring temporary restrictions on normal freedoms in the spirit of responsible coordination to deal with a threat to the lives of its citizens is totalitarian.

Wouldn’t that make Churchill a totalitarian? Roosevelt?

The answer will vary based on circumstances and situation but there is one component that is definitely part of the ideal answer. Get everyone vaccinated.

Now my youngest son posts this! I can't deal very well with knowing my child and the rest but one, are this bad.

What is your purpose in posting this, Tacenda?  Do you want people to address the claims?  If so, please write them out rather than reposting the video. Why give a video full of misinformation yet another platform?

I'm going to delete it. It's not good to bring in emotional posts. Thanks Calm.

I get the need to vent or just share when you feel outnumbered. Feel free to text me and we can talk privately and vent to each other. :)

I watched about a half dozen of those school board meetings. That clip is pretty tame.

A couple of common elements:

  • The violent and insane rhetoricians that are showing up often threaten violence against the board.
  • Many do not live in the school district and/or do not have children attending the school.
  • They lie repeatedly and without shame and demand rights that do not exist.
  • Many school board members are quitting due to threats leveled against them and their families.

In essence these people are terrorists. They are using intimidation and threats of physical violence against elected and appointed officials to coerce them into going along with their agenda.

I am saying they are fascists and need to be punched in the face.

Compulsion was Satan’s idea.

Maybe.

No. No more than Captain Moroni was for adopting serious measures during a national crisis. Or Lachoneus. Or any number of leaders from secular and religious history.

Not every restriction on human freedom is directly analogous to Satan’s plan.
