People could be assigned by location to a 'family group' just as we were for weekly activities when I was in a singles ward. If ministers and ministrees are not chosen by popularity in a singles ward, why assume that it "otherwise would" in this case? Oh, that’s right. Because every single member faithfully goes to their assigned FHE group. Silly me. It’s a total popularity contest.

Not everyone, but likely the ones who really care about commitment to the faith and the community. Unless young adults are very different now than when I was that age, that means most. Older ones I have less experience with, but see no reason they would be less committed and hopefully already have enough positive experiences to make it worthwhile. I think they should have the chance to have a family like experience if possible...and this is from someone who really didn't like almost all her assigned families when in a single ward. Rain Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Things are changing for us this week. We will have a facebook live sacrament meeting with 2 speakers. They will end and priesthood holders will do sacrament in home and then to those they are ministering to. We've been asked to dress nicely. 2

Does everyone in your ward have a robust internet connection and Facebook account? We had our high council meeting this morning via internet hook-up, and it mostly went really well. A couple of participants had slightly fuzzy connections, but we managed. I could certainly get used to waking up an hour later on Sundays! ETA: One of our newly called high councillors lives in a former diplomatic mission in an older neighbourhood. He mentioned how his family has reached out to all their neighbours to let them know they can ask for anything. As my housemate and I were studying from Come, Follow Me this morning, I was struck that we need to do something similar. We live in a townhouse complex, and many of our neighbours are older or groups of international students. I'm keen to consider creative ways to share goodness during this time. Raingirl Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 I just received a call from my newly assigned ministering brother. It’s the former bishop, so he knows me well. Not sure if that’s good or bad. 🤔 He informed me that the week for administering sacrament in the home has been changed from next week to this, so he will be bringing me the sacrament tomorrow morning. I will also be given a blessing, in light of my recent ER trip, and the general insanity of life right now. I am grateful for the opportunity. It’s been a very long time since I received a blessing. Also, it’s been requested that everyone dress in their Sunday best for the sacrament. 4

Other than the email from the RS Society President, no communication from anyone. I have been checking my junk mail this past week and I have found out about 2/3 of the Church's emails have been sent there. Makes me wonder if this has been happening all the time and I just didn't know because they weren't notable enough to be mentioned elsewhere. Pretty sure all the local stuff went through, but that was only an occasional one from the bishop and a monthly one from the RS Pres unless there was a funeral, so not sure now. Am thinking maybe a new thing because all the virus stuff looks like spam. Guess I need to get out my laptop and put those names in my contact list.

The former bishop and the husband of my former visiting teacher came by in the morning. I felt comfort in it being men I know. They started with the blessing. I offered them a chance to opt out since I found out the brethren were given instructions not to shake hands, etc. No physical contact. But they wanted to forge ahead, so we did. Proper hand washing, etc. We spent a little bit of time in conversation regarding the reason for the ER trip and the upcoming testing as a result. We proceeded with the blessing and followed up with the sacrament. It brought much needed peace. And it was nice to have even brief human contact. Living alone and no family means I have weeks of isolation ahead. I usually love - need, really - alone time, but this is more than an even an introvert like myself wants! I know they went to at least two other homes. Originally, this wasn’t supposed to happen until next week, but late last evening the stake president made the decision to move it up a week. In retrospect, I am wondering if this was because of the high probability that shelter-in-place will be ordered by the governor tomorrow. Also, our stake president is a physician and I am finding that medical personnel have a much clearer idea of what we are in store for in the weeks ahead. 5

The Nehor Posted March 31, 2020 Posted March 31, 2020 We had to stop the sacrament due to local government instructions. I was glad I did it the week before.

We still have permission to make 'pastoral visits' as clergy, but we are limited to one person visiting a home. This Sunday, one of the families I visit will set a sacrament table up outside their back door. I'll arrive to bless the emblems (following strict hygiene protocols) and then leave. Then the 12-year-old son will retrieve the bread and water for the family.

Providing sacrament won’t be an issue this Sunday, because it’s general conference, but it will be an issue the next week. Maybe things will have blown over by then.

Our only hope IMO is if we get everyone in the world a home test and schedule a day possibly and take them. And then wait for the results. And only those that are negative resume a job etc. And have the capability to test often perhaps. Watched a video of how this could be a possible fix. But it was for the US, not the whole world. That was my projection.
