"We are all looking forward to General Conference. Then we will focus on the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness." Hmmmm

I wouldn't read too much into it since the fullness of the gospel was restored in the Book of Mormon. I don't think he is talking here about any changes that may be coming.

There's a meme going around that this virus thing was what Pres. Nelson had in mind when he talked about taking vitamins, get your rest, General Conference will be different than every other conference, as in Pres. Nelson had mind something like Covid19, maybe not specifically but this is what he meant by all that

Nope. It’s not the first time he has said it. The restoration is ongoing. I don’t know what he means but everything he said was for a reason.

Yeah and i disagree those who say it. It will be different for those who prepare not just because nobody can go to the conference center.

The gospel was restored in its fullness with the opening of the last dispensation or the dispensation of the fullness of times. The First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith was the event that ushered in that dispensation.

I think  that is the the context of President Nelson’s statement.

What about the fulness of the gospel was restored in the BOM?

The basic doctrines of the Gospel were clarified in the Book of Mormon,

“Behold I have given unto you my gospel, and this is the gospel which I have given unto you—that I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me.”
The Savior then reviewed for the Nephites the facts of the Atonement, including the need to repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end. (See 3 Ne. 27:13-22.)

But of course since we believe in latter-day revelation there is always the chance we will learn more.

Technically, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon could contain the fulness of the gospel (although this statement is somewhat ambiguous):

"And again, the elders, priests and teachers of this church shall teach the principles of my gospel, which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, in the which is the fulness of the gospel." (Doctrine and Covenants 42:12)

But I don't see that the fulness of the gospel is limited to any written text.  It encompasses all of the principles contained in the scriptures, but also requires the priesthood and priesthood keys to administer the ordinances of the gospel, and that's something you can't get from a book.

I know, the restoration is ongoing, we have more to be revealed to us. However, despite the fact that people sometimes abuse the terminology, the Gospel isn't the same thing as truth or doctrines of the church. The Book of Mormon text itself is very clear that the fullness of the Gospel is contained in its text (3 Nephi 11).

I'm just assuming that Pres Nelson is aware of this basic teaching of the church. I'm sure he will have things to announce, but it would be hard for me to believe he thinks we now have a fullness of truth or that we no longer are going to receive more revelation.

It is one of the main themes of the Book of Mormon. The Gospel or Doctrine of Christ is defined in 3 Nephi 11, 3 Nephi 27, and 2 Nephi 31. In summary it is the good news of Christ and his invitation to follow him as a disciple by entering into the way through faith, repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Despite the fact that people sometimes people use "gospel" to mean doctrines of the church in general, this is not the meaning in our scriptures.

This is summarized in Articles of Faith 3 and 4, as well as the third missionary lesson, so this is a fundamental teaching of the church.

Tasteless even by my standards.

I'm sorry you feel that way, I thought it was awesome. And it was shared by a very faithful LDS on my FB. What do you find tasteless? Maybe if it was shared by someone other than me, you'd have looked at it a lot differently?

The best and most comprehensive teaching of the power, purpose, and testimony of the efficacy of the atonement. An explanation of the covenant of Israel. Great teachings on the nature of faith, repentance, and the early ordinances of the gospel. Stories of power regarding missionary work and lessons for enduring in prosperous times and difficult time. A powerful reaffirmation of a literal Second Coming. I could go on.

I found the stitching together to just be weird. It seemed more like satire with the clips of apostles and other general authorities weeping interspersed throughout. Maybe I just did not get it.

Maybe listen again, did you watch clear to the end. It was uplifting to me for some reason.

Yeah, the music did not seem to work with the video for me at the end. It seemed off somehow.

That's ok, it was a little wonky, but I enjoyed the hopeful message it gave.

It was clever but seemed disrespectful at certain parts.

Tacenda thanks for sharing something you enjoyed.  I love all things Simon and Garfunkel, and I love General Conference.  And I am troubled.  So there.

Thanks MustardSeed! I too love Simon and Garfunkel, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters. Love your comment here! Except the part that you're troubled, but I get why you said it ;), you're a sweet person. ❤️

The prophets message is trending top three on youtube tonight.  Lots of folks in and out of the church are finding comfort in our loved presidents words.  I'm so grateful for him.  We need this kind of leadership in the world.
