We were hoping for an opera a day. Tried to watch Carmen tonight, but the website was overwhelmed. Berlin Philharmonic is doing the same thing. Watched Mahler’s Third Symphony conducted by Lorenzo Viotti. If anyone wants to know what it is like to play in a symphony orchestra, watch this! Phenomenal. https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/act/1381316/5buo2gw9rirvcplz/1381316/5buo2gw9rirvcplz

Don't know how true, probably a lucky guess but interesting meme to say the least..

It doesn't resist treatment. It isn't pneumonia-like. It can lead to pneumonia though but so can the flu and all kinds of other viruses and bacteria. It is also not a baffling illness. It is a virus from a well-known family of viruses that made the jump to humans.

Also not that impressed with prediction above it unless I missed a funguslike (what does that even mean?) disease that we quarantined everyone with until we stuck them in an oven and zapped them with electricity.

I also despise psychics like her that make public pronouncements about the fate of missing children and regularly get it wrong. Predatory garbage.

Same!

So which one of us will be the first?

I'm convinced that I had it and have now recovered - I had all the symptoms and tested negative for the flu.  I work with frequent international travelers and also take (took) public transportation, so definite potential for exposure.  As it is now, there is no way to know if you have it or not, they won't let you test unless you have severe symptoms (rare).

We think Sister Gui may have had it about 3 weeks ago. All the symptoms were there, but could have been the usual kindergarten contagion. Come think of it, if she had it, there is no way I could have avoided it.

Wouldn't be surprising based on where you live.

You could have been an asymptomatic carrier.  Maybe you infected her...:unknw:

Symptomatic?  Given my typical isolation (now I don’t even have to explain to people!) and it’s supposedly not shown up in Utah Valley yet last I heard, probably not me.  Unless someone had it at the  clinic/doctor’s today....one of those big houses everyone under the sun places. It is great because all my doctors can share the same charts.

No using pads to self check in and no weighing either. Chairs were spaced out and doors propped open so you didn’t have to touch anything. Checking in at reception desk at the entrances to get cleared first as well.

Someone stole a case of their antibacterial lotion as well as gloves out of their supply closet. They were ticked.

We were making lots of jokes though. Place was pretty empty so didn’t worry about someone getting offended not understanding we were longtime friends teasing each other. Been going there since 2003 for all the family.

I haven’t been around 500 elementary school kids all month like she has. She is required to continue working from home, phoning school kids’ families and other things like that. Being retired from teaching, I get to watch her work while I practice my violin. I should be getting really good by the time this is over. 🎻

It’s mostly up in King County (Seattle area). Not so much down here in Pierce County. Kirkland (the epicenter) is about 35 miles away. Maybe the virus knows better than to cross the county line.  😡 We’re way more Conservative down here. I have stopped going to the Cox vs State of Washington trial out of an abundance of caution.

I'm missing the exact movie reference, but I have to say, in trying to figure out what it is, it's basically the plot of every zombie movie ever made.

(Except that one french artsy zombie movie.  That one had the zombies stacking up artistic piles of chairs, and the one lady became queen of the zombies by losing her joie de vivre.)

Its The Mask of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe

I'm with Kaiser and they are shutting down many health clinics and moving to virtual clinics. My doctors office is now shut down. They have a few still open for those who must be seen in person.

Sister Gui just got notice that all school personnel here are expected to staff day care for children of first providers including health workers, police, and fire folks in our schools. Seems to me that defeats the purpose of closing the schools, but who am I? Just a fiddle player.

I'm not sure I want her to be tending kids of people who may be exposed and then coming home and sharing with me. We are in the geezer group.

Seems like there would be sufficient number of staff so as to allow older employees to stay way.

If you are in an at risk group, this should not be required. You should push back.

Maybe. It still doesn't make sense to close the schools yet do this. It's a difficult situation.

Didn’t realize the language issues with that last post...my husband was editing as he read them to me. 🤷‍♀️

With the number of laid off service workers the number of daycare providers is skyrocketing. Sadly it is also a good way to spread the virus. I cannot really blame people though as many of them are desperate to be able to pay their rent and buy food. :(

Congress needs to throw together something soon. Parts of California have already announced they are not processing evictions for the duration of the crisis. That needs to be nationwide. Making people homeless is a very bad idea right now and not just from a moral view, it will also spread the virus more quickly. Preferably the same for mortgages.

Oh, and if you want to hate someone meet these douchebags:

pwObcha.jpg

The original post had their phone number and LinkedIn on there. They were slammed with negative reviews everywhere and have 1 or 0 stars depending on what the low end of that scale is, got a lot of angry phone calls, and their LinkedIn profile was shut down due to negative traffic.

I suspect it is a money grab. They expect evictions to be prohibited so they are threatening eviction BEFORE the due date hoping to get money before the government steps in.

This stuff is why we used to put heads on pikes.

See?   Get kicked out of your rental and the fort made out of hoarded toilet paper bundles from Costco pays off.
