MustardSeed Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Wouldn’t it be amazing if kids who were deemed unworthy to serve a teaching mission were found useful and valuable in service? It could be redeeming and be so amazing for self worth. Edited November 16, 2018 by MustardSeed 3

Violence is always the understood exception I have a friend who served in the SLC mission, proselyting, and there was a sister missionary in the mission who used to cut her companion's hair when they were asleep. Can you imagine! She never served with her as I recall

Avatar4321 Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Can someone tell the rest of us who don’t have the option of watching the video what’s so cool?

Church video with more emphasis on service missions versus proselyting missions. Shows options for people who for health reasons, can't go far. Mentions people who come home early for health reasons can continue to serve in this fashion!

Even better, perhaps no word is necessary at all. The reasons will vary for choosing a service mission and should be kept private IMO. 4

Actually I thought that as I was typing. I dislike the word so much. I’m on board with Thinking! 2

I think that 'unable' would probably work. 2

Ineligible seems appropriate if necessary to explain, unable or inability is probably best though in terms of neutrality imo. Edited November 16, 2018 by Calm 1

I have long had a distaste for the words "worthy" and "unworthy". I think the word is misused terribly. The root of the word "worthy" is "worth", and we all know that the worth of souls is great in the sight of God...ALL souls. Edited November 16, 2018 by pogi 1

The word "worthy" used to have the primary meaning of "suitable" or "well suited for the purpose". As in "a worthy saddle." But the language drifts over time, and sometimes our uses need to drift along with it as well.
