Kudos to you for doing the self-editing.

Some might notice almost all of my posts include an “edited by” stamp. No shame in that.

I always want to add something..but because my mind is going faster than my fingers..always have to fix something.

No, it was not “seriously,” in fact. It was an instance of facetious overstatement. I supposed that would have been apparent to a typical reader. I guess I was wrong in your case.

By the way, I do let a lot of errors go by. The vast majority of what I notice, in fact.

I think it's because of my mother, she was an editor of her school's paper, and a stickler, but I'm still way behind her.

Two posters I have noticed over the years have a knack for typing flawless text before pushing the “send” button the first time. One is Daniel C. Peterson. The other is Pahoran/Russell McGregor/Kiwi.

This is probably so true.  But we must remember that all the good grammar in the world really has nothing to do with intelligence.  I look at you and these other gentlemen and see that there is a great talent.

Ha...had to edit..that I do admire such talent.:D

Prayerfully seek repentance for the lives that have been lost.  Then inquire of God as to a interpretation of what is meant by family..what is it?

Repentance from what, exactly?

I wouldn't say it has nothing to do with intelligence. But it is not the only mark of intelligence, and it's not an infallible one.

I do believe it reflects a logical and orderly mind, coupled with an urge to express oneself as effectively as possible.

Because we all know that what Julie committed was a very serious sin and someone had to draw attention to it?  It was so serious that you "just couldn't allow" something to go by as insignificant as someone using the wrong word 3 months ago?  I think we all knew what Julie meant when we originally read it.   We also all know that mistakes are made (and auto correct happens....).

But....

She did do it twice....so, shame, shame on her....

(I hope she gets here soon to correct her errors and repent....)

Hilarious!!!!  Alas, it appears I’m too late and can no longer repent of this very grievous sin (commited twice no less, oh the horrors).  I guess I’m no longer allowed to edit those posts and I’m heartbroken over that.   My sins will remain here forever now for all to see :P

What’s funny is I actually remember seeing these and intending to fix them at the time.  But got distracted, I guess and never made the corrections.

It’s just so nice of Scott to point them out for all to see (again) though.  Ha!!!

Who says you're no longer allowed? This thread has not been closed, or we would not be posting here.

From policies that did nothing but hurt people...and many other things.  This post of mine was old further back in the thread.  But no worries..the church, authority, does not apologize.

When I go to those posts, there’s no longer an “edit” option.  Maybe after a certain time, you can no longer edit a post?

ETA:

Just tried again and there is no edit link, only a quote one now.  (I’m just on my phone and will see if it’s the same on my computer later, but I can edit this post just not those from months ago.)

I agree and this is what I tend to do too.

I feel it's arrogant and rude to draw attention to someone's error and I always cringe when I see it done here.  I can almost always tell what the person who typed the message means and many times can tell it's just an unintentional typo or slip up.

Do you think when it is a funny pun type of error that what probably amounts to lighthearted teasing is rude?  Serious question as I am amused by my own errors like that and wouldn't have any issue with people teasing me about it, but if other people get annoyed or embarrassed I will stop pointing it out.

No, I think one can tell the difference.  A bit of lighthearted teasing is fun and harmless (most of the time, IMO).  It's good to try and keep a sense of humor and have the ability to laugh at yourself too.

I've never seen you do anything rude or offensive.  You're no grammar Nazi....not at all.

I am sure I have done something, at least in my head. :P

I have called a few posters trolls, iirc only after demonstrating inconsistent posting styles that lead me to believe they are putting on a show, playing mind games, etc.

The ability to edit your own post on an open thread goes away after about a day.

Ok thanks!  I didn’t know that  :)

I agree, bluebell.

So what is wrong with the church accepting families involved in a SSM as a part of their congregations?  (Honest question).

As I posted above, I know of at least one active gay couple who is greatly welcomed and loved in their ward and who contribute greatly.  But, if they marry....they risk being excommunicated.

Are they living together? Are they having sex? If so, and they haven't been excommunicated, that would say much about the lds church. I don't think that a civil marriage would change their standing.

Posted

The lds church can never change their marriage policy because of eternal marriage between a woman and a man. How could this be changed by the lds church? If they did change it, many members would leave the fold because of hypocrisy and going with the relativist flow.

Some policies will always hurt people. No way to escape that at all. When I was an young adult in the 70s, a sexual sin usually meant excommunication or disfollowship. But what to do? Rules were rules. Should the church have acted differently because they may have hurt people? I wonder if Saint Paul thought about some of his policies hurting people. Or was he more concerned about doing god's word?

So if "some policies will always hurt people" (emphasis added), there's no reason to reassess the policy as long as the claim is made that the policy is from God?

I checked my older posts on this thread and found I still have edit capability with them.

I don't know.  I just know that I've reread posts from the day before and found a spelling error or something like that, but the edit button has been gone.

Posts from the same day always seem to have the edit button for me.

Now that I look at some of my old post with this browser I see that I can edit them.  But I do know I've wanted to correct and error in one of my posts before and been unable to.

Perhaps the thread had been closed.
