Prayers for my Granddaughters: Bad Accident.

Recommended Posts

My daughter-in-law, was in a bad accident, she is on the way to one hospital, two of my granddaughters being taken to a Children's Hospital, one by ambulance and one by Life-Flight. Since we only have one car, I cannot even get to any of them. My wife was out when she got the call, and cannot take the time to get back by here to get me. My Son is a a softball game and we can't reach him by phone, so the police are trying to locate him.

Please join me in prayer for these precious souls!

Prayers papa!  Is there someone from the ward that can give you a ride?

Don't know, Bishop already knows. The youngest of the two, is in ICU, readying for exploratory surgery. The older is really busted up. My daughter-in-law called from Ambulance and asked that all go to the children's hospital. No one has even seen her yet, she is at a hospital North of Atlanta, and the babies are in a hospital East of Atlanta. I hate feeling so powerless to do nothing for anyone right now! My Son has made to the hospital with the babies, he needs his Father. Thankfully my wife (Nanny) is with the babies and Joshua, my Son.

If they were local, I'd hop in the car and pay one or all a visit now. Thoughts and prayers my friend. Contact your home teachers / visiting teachers and see if they can provide some assistance.

Just starting calling ward members until you find someone who can take you.

My wife just called, they are both in ICU...she said with both of them in ICU and so many of my family already there, there was nothing to be done now. I am going to make calls and see who is with Ashley. I may feel powerless being just 40miles away. I can only guess what her parents, and the babies other grandparents are feeling, all the way in Vernal, UT.

I'm sure there are many people who would be willing to give you a ride, if you asked them.  I'm sure Ashely would appreciate having someone with her.

Her visited teachers got to her, she is stitched up, and my son is picking her up to get back to the babies. The truck (a semi) that hit them, hit on the girls side, that is why they were injured the most. The little one is being keep under sedation to keep her from making things worse by fighting and screaming. She has a injury to her head, (bleed on the brain) spleen and ribs. The older babie has cuts to her face, broken nose, and other injuries from seatbelt. She is awake, but very upset about her little sister, so they are giving her medication to keep her claim. My younger son is on the way to get me.

Edited because situation changed...

If you haven't left already, you should make up an overnight bag for yourself with any medications and maybe a change of clothing, some snacks, etc. just in case you get stuck somewhere longer than anticipated.  Your wife might want one if you are going to the same place, if not you should call about any medication she might need if it is going to ban an all nighter for her and see if you can get that and anything else to her.

I'm with this.  I was once in a situation where me and my baby had to be flight-for-life'd.  When it's suddenly "hey were are going right now", you don't think of things like toothbrushes.  But after 10 hours of pacing the ICU floor all night and pulling your hair out, having a toothbrush makes you feel a tad more human.

My youngest is taking her all of this. She told me that there is nowhere to rest, since both are stable she will come get me in the morning...which reminds me, I need to call and get someone to teach my Priesthood class.

You know, while I was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia...I served on a medivac helicopter and we also did civilian support. There were dozens of time that we would transport children, pre-mature babies to the same hospital in Atlanta. I am glad those who transported the youngest there. Our flights in the Army and those on the civilian side save so many lives.

Let us know when you have the time and attention to spare.

Zoe may go home today, she is stitched up and worried about her baby sister. My wife and Son just took her up to see Rebekah in ICU. She is being kept alseep to allow for her injuries to heal. She was throne from her car seat, has a concussion, brain bleed (a minor one) and injury to her spleen. She will have to remain, and need to heal slowly for four maybe five weeks. She may not be able to start school on time. Ashley is black and blue, with stitches, and guilt ridden, despite all trying to reassure her, that is was just an accident. It is so hard to see her in neck branches and IV, she is all respirator and will open eyes when she hears the voices of all here, but drifts ofdright away.

Prayers still needed...

As a parent, it is so hard to see your children suffer, when a grandparent (Papa) it is only compounded to see your child lament over their own. It is draining, and heart wrenching. Her grandmother from Utah arrived hust 10 mins ago. Where one is now being released, the other is being kept under so she can heal...not sure for how long. Have not slept, nor my wife, her Nanny. In an hour or two, we have to take Grandma Shanna to my Son's house, he won't leave the hospital.
