You are the thousandth person to say these things. Been there done that. Thanks again. But Mf: y'all are goin' tuh hayall!! Hayall, ah tells yuh! Who would do that to their kids to scare them that way? It is a crime! That makes God into a beast. Thank God- that "god" really IS dead. Edited January 24, 2016 by mfbukowski 1
Storm Rider Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Saved, You are getting treated a little shabbily, but please understand that the things you have said are a very old argument for LDS - we have heard it a thousand times. What makes it more difficult is that LDS know their scriptures, on average, far better than most other Christians. We generally take things in context and we don't often cherry pick to find scriptures to support our position. Note that I used the terms: generally and often. There are exceptions. The scriptures, the NT, does not support maintaining a specific doctrine to be saved. You have declared that because of our doctrine we will be damned, but your own beliefs and Bible deny this. We freely, consciously, weekly testify that Jesus is the Christ, the only son of the Living God, born of the virgin Mary, lived, was crucified and was resurrected, he sits on the right hand of the Father and will return again to judge the living and the dead. We also believe that the Holy Ghost as the third member of the Godhead and that his presence teaches truth, leads all to Christ, and is our constant companion if we choose to follow Christ. Your comments reveal that you have an incorrect view of the what LDS teach or believe. I am also not sure that you have a complete understanding of the Trinity or at least one that is supported by the majority of Christianity, but that is a conversation for another day. I appreciate your desire to preach, but it may be helpful to first understand what we believe, think, and teach. 1

How are we to recognize this in others? I believe that it is the challenge of each disciple to become more and more like Christ. It is a process rather than an event. At least that is what Jesus taught and his early apostles. We know that simply knowing the name of Jesus is not enough - even the devils know Jesus' name be remained condemned. It is those that follow after, that keep his commandments that are saved.
savedwheat Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 All believers overcometh, but not all overcome at the same time. Many are still babes in Christ. Others are spiritual. Some yield 30 some yield 60. If you think a person who is saved, that is, believing in Christ (and not any Christ), can lose salvation then I know you are not saved. If you are not saved you go to Hell.

savedwheat Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 You're a Mormon but let's pretend you are Christian so you truly believe that Jesus is the 2nd Person of the Trinity, created ALL things and died on the cross for the sins of the world, resurrected the 3rd day, and the Godhead of One Being was alone from everlasting. If you say you murdered someone yesterday for no good reason, then I am sure you will admit you don't believe in Jesus and if you thought you did, you admit it wasn't genuine. But if you come to me and say you really believe I will sense by the Holy Spirit if you are genuine so that I know you will never murder someone; and thus, you are my broter in Christ.

So if you believe it is possible a person can lose salvation once saved you yourself have never been saved. Prior to the people turning back from Christ after he told them they had to cannibalize him to have eternal life where those people saved? Up until that point they had did everything he had asked them to do. They believed... forsook all and followed him. PS> If you can't lose salvation then Christ lied when he said... The synoptics go on to state that Jesus quoted the Book of Isaiah, stating that by hearing you shall hear but not understand, by seeing you shall see and not perceive, and that the people were hard of hearing, with closed eyes Isaiah 6:9-10. After this, the synoptics provide an explanation of the parable: The sower sows the word The seeds falling on the road represent those who hear the word but dismiss it straight away - the synoptics state that the wicked one (Matthew's wording)/Satan (Mark's wording) is what takes the word away The seeds falling on the rocks represent those who hear the word, but only accept it shallowly - the synoptics state that these sorts of people reject the word as soon as it causes them affliction or persecution The seeds falling on thorns represent those who hear the word, and take it to heart, but allow worldly concerns, such as money and cares of this world, to choke it. The seeds falling on good soil represents those who hear the word, and truly receive it spiritually, causing it to bear fruit. According to you those are saved Edited January 25, 2016 by Zakuska

savedwheat Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 That's figurative obviously. Why are Mormons so hostile to the Bible? They have no reverence. Yes Jesus knew He would betray Him. He acted as the scapegoat.

That's not just rude, it's ignorant. Or, perhaps it's easier for you to understand, if I say it's ignernt. By every reasonable (i.e. non-bigoted) definition of the term, Mormons are Christians. Both ducks and Emus are birds. Both turtles and snakes are reptiles. Both bats and whales are mammals. And not only are Mormons Christians, so are some Evangelical Protestants. 22 minutes ago, savedwheat said: so you truly believe that Jesus is the 2nd Person of the Trinity, created ALL things and died on the cross for the sins of the world, resurrected the 3rd day, and the Godhead of One Being was alone from everlasting. Just FYI: everyone less arrogant than you are understands that you don't get to set arbitrary criteria for determining who is and isn't a Christian. The Bible mentions some criteria. None of those are in it. 22 minutes ago, savedwheat said: If you say you murdered someone yesterday for no good reason, then I am sure you will admit you don't believe in Jesus and if you thought you did, you admit it wasn't genuine. What I get out of that astonishingly garbled rant is that you imagine to yourself that, by calling ourselves Christians, we're begging you to accept us into your club. Amazing! Just how arrogant are you, really? 1

Thinking Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I shared this story back on November 2, 2015. Quote A coworker of mine (back in the 80's) told me once that some missionaries (not LDS) had come to his door to try to teach him about their religion. During the course of the conversation he made it known to them that he wasn't going to change his lifestyle. They told him he was going to Hell. He responded that he was OK with that because from their description of who goes there, all of his friends would be there too. I wonder if savedwheat was one of the missionaries who knocked on my coworker's door.
