Second Coming, I Wish It Were Here

Recommended Posts

I am tired of the violence, corruption, and evil. I just wish the Savior would return soon.

I hope I will be alive when He does return. My opinion 20-40 years.

I'd just love to be ready for him to return.  Right now I think I'm too much of a work in progress...

FWIW in my 70 + years the doomsdayers have never been right but I have no doubt if they continue then one of these days they will accidentally get it right.

I'm sure someday a prophet will get the date of the second coming right too.

Nope - what part of "no man knows" don't we understand.

The second coming is not going to be revealed ahead of time.  Other end times happening might be, but the second coming is going to surprise all of us.

Even the angels in heaven don't get to know the hour.

For he who knows how to read the signs it will not be a surprise.

Who is ready? No one really ever is. I know I certainly am not, but I try.

Somedays I have the oil and some days it seems Im with the five that are lacking, yet still I wish it would happen soon.

I do not remember any prophets giving a date.

I doubt it is the coming that will be the problem but what you will have to wade through before.

The key to a good second coming prophecy is to prophesy a date that is well beyond your life expectancy. Also, when making any prophecies, ensure that they are sufficiently vague/general, thus allowing them to be self fulfilled in the minds of your followers. For more tips on how to be a prophet feel free to PM me :)

Me too.  I don't feel ready, but I would like Him to come for the sake of my kids.

Things have to get much ,much worse world wide before the second coming. When I think about all the death from war and disease in the 20th century, if that didn't signal a second coming, what will it take? It needs to get like Sodom in that there will have to be very few righteous around before the Lord will begin the destruction. In my opinion there is still a large percentage of people who are striving to be good and kind in the world. Perhaps we are on a cusp of unrighteousness but I don't think we are yet. That could change in a generation if there is a massive financial collapse or a pandemic etc. Tribalism would become the governing norm. Not yet folks. Not yet. As has been said, the run up to the return of Christ will be so horrific to live in we will pray for death. Imagine Bosnia or Somalia but the world over.

Perhaps we will be able to repent like Nineveh did and avoid all that turmoil. ( not holding my breath )

Well they had better hurry up because Armageddon is starting to go into 2nd gear as we speak. Read "The Prophecy Driving Isis"

 http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/16/opinion/bergen-isis-enemies/index.html

"The mistake some make when viewing ISIS is to see it as a rational actor. Instead, as the magazine documents, its ideology is that of an apocalyptic cult that believes that we are living in the end times and that ISIS' actions are hastening the moment when this will happen.

The name of the Dabiq magazine itself helps us understand ISIS' worldview. The Syrian town of Dabiq is where the Prophet Mohammed is supposed to have predicted that the armies of Islam and "Rome" would meet for the final battle that will precede the end of time and the triumph of true Islam.

In the recent issue of Dabiq it states: "As the world progresses towards al-Malhamah al-Kubrā, ('the Great Battle' to be held at Dabiq) the option to stand on the sidelines as a mere observer is being lost." In other words, in its logic, you are either on the side of ISIS or you are on the side of the Crusaders and infidels.

When American aid worker Peter Kassig was murdered by ISIS in November, "Jihadi John" -- the masked British murderer who has appeared in so many ISIS videos -- said of Kassig: "We bury the first crusader in Dabiq, eagerly waiting for the rest of your armies to arrive."

In other words, ISIS wants a Western ground force to invade Syria, as that will confirm the prophecy about Dabiq.

We live in an increasingly secularized world, so it's sometimes difficult to take seriously the deeply held religious beliefs of others. For many of us the idea that the end of times will come with a battle between "Rome" and Islam at the obscure Syrian town of Dabiq is as absurd as the belief that the Mayans had that their human sacrifices could influence future events."

I understand it completely. It was said that no one knows and I believe it. It did not say no one would ever know. That was Joseph's justification for asking. It could be revealed. Presumably the Angels will be told if they are coming with him. I believe the Savior said he did not know. At some point before it happens he will have to.

I wonder what everyone's role will be in the millennium. I wonder what my role will be.

Since we are going back to a monarchy I plan to apply for the post of court jester.

This thread has brought an interesting question to my mind.  Some of the comments seem to suggest that the Lord is waiting for humans to reach a wickedness threshold which will then trigger his return and the end of days. I have the impression that His time is set regardless of the behavior of men.

Seems if His return were contingent on us being wicked we'd be proselytizing people to act a lot differently. :)

The wickedness is the inevitable by product of rejecting God and the messengers he is sending.
