The 2Nd Coming Is Soon At Hand

That works, comports with what I am saying, and provides an answer ("no") to rodheadlee, upthread who wrote:  "Why do people think the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is the End of the World? Can we not get married and have children during the Millennium? it will be a beautiful 1000 years!"

No, the Millennial Reign (1000 years) is still part of the temporal life of the earth.  We will still marry and seal during that time - until the end of the events of Revelation 20.  But AFTER the final resurrection at the end of the 1000 years and the resurrection of the Earth (Revelation 21) then all earthly things will become eternal, and only those with eternal marriages will remain married.  The weddings have to be completed during the mortal creation period that ends in Revelation 20.

Yes, Thank You, JLHPROF. that's what I was trying to show with scripture. That regular life will go on until the end of the Millennium.  Christ will be the world leader so it won't really be regular but a Terrestrial world but not yet a Celestial world. I suppose it won't be regular in that resurrected beings will be living side by side with mortal humans. it will be fantastic.

Has it been forgotten the "one grand sign of the Son of Man in heaven?"

“Judah must return, Jerusalem must be rebuilt, and the temple, and water come out from under the temple, and the waters of the Dead Sea be healed [see Ezekiel 47:1–9]. It will take some time to rebuild the walls of the city and the temple, etc.; and all this must be done before the Son of Man will make His appearance. There will be wars and rumors of wars, signs in the heavens above and on the earth beneath, the sun turned into darkness and the moon to blood, earthquakes in divers places, the seas heaving beyond their bounds; then will appear one grand sign of the Son of Man in heaven. But what will the world do? They will say it is a planet, a comet, etc. But the Son of Man will come as the sign of the coming of the Son of Man, which will be as the light of the morning cometh out of the east [see Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:26].”

https://www.lds.org/manual/teachings-joseph-smith/chapter-21?lang=eng

What I take from this is the Savior will appear in the heavens for quite awhile as He approaches the Earth. At least enough time for the world to broadcast the news about its ideas of what it is seeing: a comet, a planet, an asteroid.

"But the Son of Man will come as the sign of the coming of the Son of Man."

Then those of you who recognize what it truely is will be running around screaming your heads off. While the world will say your crazy because it has to be a comet, etc. - or why else the media preparing the wolrd to always be fearful of an asteroid slamming into the earth?

Isn't is great that all these signs are so clear that there is no possible way to misinterpret.

Maybe there is fear of an asteroid slamming into Earth because it has happened numerous times before.

Yes, it happens all the time, doesn't it.

Do you realize how many meteorite craters there are across the face of this planet.  Yes it has happened a lot.  Just because you haven't educated yourself does not negate what has happened.

We, the Mormons, are cute sometimes. There are so many of us who think we know more than we know and we often get, as I've seen and as seems evident in the story of the OP, upset/defensive/proud about our particular opinions.

In a sense it's probably good because we all want to be prophets. In another sense, it's silly because we're spitting out that which we don't know as absolute truth.

With that all said I like it when discussions get a little tense at Church. It's so boring otherwise. And it often suggests to me something--that some people are trying to make sense of all of this.

Well, I don't know about you, but I definitely know more than I know.

The thing about asteroid strikes and meteorites (and cometary strikes as well, since the ancient Sudbury crater was recently attributed to a comet), is that except for our astronomers catching them in view before they arrive, they do not trend.  They happen when they happen, and there is no prediction possible.

On the other hand, we can examine trending things like the dramatic increase in Islamic terror groups such as ISIS, and others.  That, my friends, is definitely trending UP.  And Israel stands in danger of them, and the danger is increasing.  It may die down again.  Or it may not.  But the trend, as they say, is your friend.  Not that what the trend portends is necessarily positive, but that the trend gives some guidance as to what may happen in the future.

And I'd say we are definitely trending into some dangerous times.  Keep yer powder dry.

There is no case in all of world history where a city was destroyed by an asteroid.   So the trend is that we are reasonably safe.

Tell that to the dinosaurs...

Who told you that?  Please provide references.

As I pointed out, asteroid strikes and the like cannot trend because they are such rare events, occurring at random and at long intervals.  There is no safety trend for them.

Actually, the trend is that they don't occur except hardly ever.

But when they do, it can be a bit destructive.

"We" are told this?  Actually, this is the first time I"ve ever been told this.  Or, by "we" were you speaking of yourself and that mouse in your pocket?  :D

HappyJackWagon,

I'm sorry; this is off-topic, but there's something I simply have to get off of my chest: every time I see your screen name, I think of this guy:

"What're you doing, you Jack Wagon??!!!"

That is all! :);):D

2 Nephi 2:22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.

In other words, Mormon theology holds there was no death on this world before the fall.

There are dead dinosaurs in the fossil record.

There would not have been sufficient room on the ark to carry two representatives of every species of dinosaur, and indeed no living dinosaurs come down to us today, unlike the animals that were taken aboard the ark such as cattle and doves and ravens.

Putting two and two and two together, the dinosaurs perished in the flood.

And all things which were created must have remained in the same state [immortal in the garden; mortal out] in which they were after they were created; and they [Adam and Eve] must have remained forever, and had no end.

This is one possible interpretation.

That assumes the Garden of Eden is the whole Earth.

So when it says, "And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created" that refers only to all things that were created outside of the Garden.  I'm glad that plain and precious thing has been restored to the book.

In which case Noah failed. He should have loaded raptors and T-Rexes as instructed and we could have made a very interesting Jurassic Park prequel.

So I'm uneducated? So how many meteorite craters are there across the face of this planet? :)
