High Altitude Can Cause Suicides?

If He wanted to send us to a depressing place, He would have sent us farther north. It's cold up there.

It is cold enough in Utah!

Ah, Canada…where your nose freezes together if you breathe through it and you have to hold the air in your mouth for a bit before finishing inhaling it.

By "Canada" I assume you're referring to the barren wasteland west of the Rockies and east of the Great Lakes, right?

I've lived in Utah, I never felt so cold as I do now living in the north. And there is still Canada and Alaska that's colder.

They may be colder, but that doesn't make Utah warm. It is depressingly cold as it is for me, a foreigner.

I had a bout of altitude sickness once while up high in the Colorado mountains.  Before I got down I didn't think suicide was going to be necessary.

I don't have any studies or proof for this, but I believe that wanting to die or kill oneself increases the rates of suicide by a lot.

"Having a schoolmate commit suicide increases the chance that a teen will consider or attempt suicide"

Having suicide prevention education increases the chance too, iirc. Better to focus on at risk behaviours or mental or emotional illness such as depression than suicide itself to avoid the contagion risk.

Fine line between counselling to help cope and drawing attention to it.

Old age increases risk as well.

I think just about everybody fits into at least one of those categories. So just how seriously should we take such studies?
